Shen Nian and her two roommates were completely unaware that after Cao Yuqing left their dorm, she had gone somewhere else to bad-mouth them.
Or perhaps, even if they had known, they likely wouldn’t have cared. After all, they couldn’t control what other people said.

Even the timid Wang Chunhua seemed to grow much bolder. Seeing that Shen Nian and Qi Yunzhi were both interested in the local specialties she had brought, she launched into a whole speech about all the good things from her hometown, making Qi Yunzhi’s eyes light up.
"Wow, people in your hometown are so lucky to have so much delicious food!"
Shen Nian, on the other hand, was much calmer than Qi Yunzhi and didn’t react so dramatically. After all, she was far more worldly and experienced.
"If you like it, I’ll bring more back next time I go home."
Wang Chunhua was genuinely happy to see how much Qi Yunzhi liked it. After all, the shadow Cao Yuqing’s earlier reaction had cast over her still hadn’t completely disappeared.
"Awesome! I know my way around B City, and there’s lots of delicious food here too. I’ll take you out to eat when we get the chance."
Qi Yunzhi wasn’t one to simply take advantage of others. She believed one good turn deserved another; since someone gave her something delicious, she would of course return the favor.

After leaving the dormitory, Gu Shuxin walked straight out of the school gates, where a car was waiting.
Gu Shuxin glanced in its direction, then walked toward the car parked by the gate, opened the door, and got into the passenger seat.
Qi Chengliang, who was in the driver’s seat, spotted Gu Shuxin the moment she walked out of the school gates. His eyes followed her all the way until she was seated in his car.
After what had happened that day, Qi Chengliang could clearly feel a subtle shift in his feelings for Gu Shuxin.

Seeing Gu Shuxin—the very same woman who was always so cold and severe with him—forced to meet him against her will because of his threat, Qi Chengliang couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement.
In the past, he had been so good to Gu Shuxin, yet he couldn’t even earn a single smile from her. While she had never outright rejected him, she had never agreed to anything either. Qi Chengliang wasn’t stupid; he had always known this, he just chose not to dwell on it.
But now, with just a single piece of leverage, a single threat, the dynamic between him and Gu Shuxin had completely flipped.

"What did you call me over for? Today’s the first day of check-in for school. Stop causing trouble!"
