Chapter 367: They Hope You’ll Be Their Son-in-law
The sudden change in Lu Cheng’s tone made Shen Nian look up in surprise. Following his gaze to the dust on her clothes, she instantly understood the reason for his abrupt anger.
’But I was sure I’d brushed myself off when I got up,’ she thought. ’I can’t believe I missed a spot, and of course, Lu Cheng had to be the one to see it.’
She gave a wry smile. ’Looks like there’s no hiding it now, even if I wanted to. After all, I can’t exactly claim the dust jumped onto my clothes all by itself!’
"I... took a little fall earlier. I must have gotten dirty then."
"You fell?"
Lu Cheng’s eyes widened. "Let me see. Are you hurt anywhere?"
Shen Nian frantically waved her hands and shook her head.
"No, I’m not hurt! Really, not even a scratch. I promise!"
Seeing that Shen Nian didn’t seem to be lying, and that aside from the dust on her clothes, she wasn’t too disheveled and had no visible injuries, Lu Cheng finally relaxed a little.
’If he brought Shen Nian to the Chu Family’s home only for her to get hurt, he would never forgive himself.’

Although Lu Cheng didn’t say her name, it was perfectly clear who "her" referred to.

"Did she give a reason?"

Hearing his reply, Shen Nian knew Lu Cheng had misunderstood her. He thought she was saying that Chu Lingxiu targeted her out of jealousy because she liked him.

"How do you know she doesn’t like you?"
At Shen Nian’s question, Lu Cheng realized he might have said something he shouldn’t have, and his expression instantly grew awkward.
