Chapter 248: Are You Trying to Destroy Terra?
Hearing that voice, everyone—whether the emergency-gathered leaders of various countries or ordinary people—focused on their television screens.
They saw two figures falling from the sky like meteors.
But before they landed, their bodies became as light as feathers, and they touched down gently on the tips of their toes.
They were two tall girls with delicate features.
They were dressed fashionably, in a style befitting girls their age.
One was an Asian girl with blonde gradient hair, wearing a baseball cap. She stood only four or five meters away from Magneto.
No one knew who they were.
But judging by the way they had descended, they were clearly no ordinary people.
…
Inside a low-key yet luxurious club room, everything was elegant and refined, from the expensive oil paintings steeped in history that adorned the walls to the furnishings themselves.
Three people sat on the sofa.
One was a fair-skinned, beautiful blonde woman in a long dress. Another was a middle-aged white man in a white suit, his bearing somewhat flamboyant.
The last was a seductive woman with long black hair, dressed in tight leather beneath a long black swallowtail coat.
"Wow. Looks like more guests have arrived. What a wonderful show."
The blond beauty held a tall wineglass and took a sip. She seemed calm and relaxed, but there was a lingering tension deep in her eyes.
"Hmph. Little Erik, he really has grown old. What do you think, my dear White Queen?"
The only man looked at the image playing on the huge screen in front of him, especially Magneto's aged face, and could not help letting out a laugh. He glanced sideways at the blond beauty.
"I thought you would be impatient, Black King." the White Queen replied, unmoved by the Black King's gaze, her seemingly respectful tone laced with biting sarcasm.
"Yeah, I am indeed impatient. Unfortunately, this war might not happen after all," the Black King remarked, entirely unbothered, though there was a hint of regret in his voice.
"I prefer that the war doesn't break out, Black King," the other black-haired woman said, her voice slightly hoarse.
"So the Black Queen can feel fear too?" the White Queen mocked, discarding any attempt at concealment.
"Heh. If we're talking about who's most afraid, I think it should be you." the Black Queen retorted, refusing to back down as she exposed the White Queen's inner dread.
Watching the Black and White Queens bicker, the man known as the Black King did not grow angry. Instead, he watched with great amusement. However, when the two women stopped so quickly, he found himself rather disappointed.
Turning his attention back to the massive screen, his eyes lit up as they settled on the beautiful young Asian girl.
"Don't you think she's quite fascinating?"
"Do you know them?" the White Queen asked, somewhat surprised.
"I believe you both should know them."
The Black King smiled, raising the heavy-bottomed glass in his hand and gently swirling the wine inside. Through the glass and the shifting wine, the girl's image on the screen warped slightly.
Then he said with certainty, "Raven."
"It's them?"
This time, both the White Queen and the Black Queen could not help crying out.
"Terra, the Emperor, Astartes, Raven, Grey Knights...Where on earth do you all come from?"
As the Black King spoke, his tone gradually became low, and his face turned especially cold.
…
"Hey, give me some face, Mr. Magneto, and calm down for a moment, yeah?"
In front of the abandoned church, Skye raised her voice and shouted to Magneto.
"It's you?" Seeing Skye and Jessica beside her, Magneto, who had been fired up and emotional, immediately cooled down. His brow furrowed tightly.
Meanwhile, the X-Men and Professor X breathed a collective sigh of relief at their arrival. However, the blood-red tint deep within Jean Grey's eyes grew even more vibrant, and her expression imperceptibly turned grim.
"You should not have come here, nor should you stand in my way," Magneto declared. Facing the young Skye and Jessica, he actually calmed down, his tone remarkably calm.
This sudden shift left viewers across the world utterly astounded. Who were these two girls? Why could they make a furious Magneto calm down? At the same time, many intelligent individuals quickly deduced their identities.
"The conflict and anger you have been building up for so long would naturally explode one day."
Skye's opening words struck like thunder, making everyone's expressions change. But no one expected her to suddenly change course, her voice turning serious and resolute.
"But if you intend to slaughter civilians—"
"The Emperor will absolutely not allow it."
The moment those words left her lips, it was as if a bomb had gone off in everyone's minds.
The Emperor?
It could be said that the moment they heard that title, everyone immediately thought of the one who had shown a miracle in the former Sokovia.
Then Skye's and Jessica's identities were immediately explained.
Were they Raven? Or Grey Knights?
As for Astartes, they were all made up of men, so that was naturally impossible.
For a time, social media was completely set ablaze. In a short time, discussions surged wildly.
"Thank God. Praise the Emperor. Has the great Emperor finally come to save the world?"
"Damn it, they almost started a war. I thought my family and I were going to die."
"Magneto is too terrifying. He can actually control a nuclear bomb."
"That freak must be stopped. Kill him."
"Actually, don't you think they were forced into this?"
"Fuck, that old bastard wants to nuke the whole world, and you're still speaking for them? Are you a mutant?"
"Shut up, you idiots. It's people like you who pushed mutants to this point."
Magneto did not know about the arguments on social media.
Even if he did, he would not care. What he cared about was the identity of the girl in front of him, and the one standing behind her.
He stared at Skye. After taking a deep breath, he said in a low voice, "They want to destroy us. War has always been equal."
In Magneto's worldview, there was one idea that had never changed from beginning to end.
Humans were humans, and mutants were mutants. They were two different races.
Since humans wanted to destroy mutants, then as the leader of mutants, he could also destroy humans.
That was equality.
"We're human too. Are you going to destroy us as well? Destroy Terra?"
Skye's question directly silenced Magneto.
Magneto looked at Skye's serious little face. He really wanted to refute her.
Why don't you listen to what you're saying? You people can be called human? You're practically monsters.
Skye's Observation Haki could sense Magneto's speechless emotion. She did not mind. Instead, she smiled and said, "Magneto, from beginning to end, you've been thinking about one thing wrong."
"Not all those who persecute mutants are ordinary people. I won't deny that there are people among them who hate mutants, but there are even more innocent people."
"The people you should hate and take revenge on should not be them either. So what if you detonate that nuclear bomb and destroy a city?"
"It won't cause the slightest loss to the people who truly persecuted you."
"And one more thing. I'm not trying to persuade you. I am representing the Emperor's will and demanding that you give up your actions, Magneto."
