I Have a God Simulator

Chapter 233 - 225: If You Haven’t Flipped an Earth Traveling Boat, You’re Not Driving Fast Enough

As the old capital of the Empire, Crystal City was larger than both Yao City and Yan City. But now, the city had been reduced to a vast expanse of ruins.

Sand, dust, and glass shards covered the ground. Mixed within these fragments were the remains of every person from the Empire—sharp and cutting, yet also Fragile, just like their style and their past.

After parking the Earth Traveling Boat, Uluu arrived before the Ghost Tower.

The place was as striking as the rumors claimed. Atop the tall tower was a verdant, vertical pupil, watching over the entire city.

Inside the tower, he found Lady Yaopu.

His teacher had told Uluu to find this lady, saying she could provide assistance.

"It’s good that Fabiani is still alive."

Lady Yaopu wore Ghost Armor, and her words and actions were remarkably efficient. Thanks to her [Intimacy] ability, she could easily understand Uluu’s sign language and convey her own words to him.

"By the way, has Fabiani been seeing other women on the outside?"

Uluu shook his head.

Lady Yaopu nodded. "Good... Did he not tell you I’m his wife?"

Uluu was taken aback.

The Wuzi People had no concept of male and female, but most of the Yao Race did.

Uluu understood that procreation between males and females led to a very complex and subtle relationship between the two types of individuals—something difficult for the Wuzi People to comprehend.

"That guy... Looks like the wedding is going to be delayed for a long time."

Yaopu sighed and began to show Uluu around the tower.

"Right now, the Ghost Tower in Crystal City has 73,219 official residents. They were all citizens of the former Empire who died after their bodies crystallized during the Divine War."

"The interesting thing is, the former ministers and Generals of the Empire are all hiding, too afraid to show their faces."

Yaopu’s laughter was mixed with stuttering and static.

She tapped her helmet, which echoed with a CLANG CLANG.

"This suit of Ghost Armor is severely worn down. I need to find time to get a Dwarf to repair it. The sound is often distorted, and sometimes my movements are delayed..."

Uluu noticed another man in the tower.

He was dressed in a linen robe with a travel pack on his back and sheepskin or cowhide boots on his feet—the typical attire of a Yao Race city dweller.

The man noticed him and gave Uluu a nod.

"Let me introduce you two."

Yaopu took the initiative. "This is Uluu, an Archaeologist. He’s here to survey the History of the old imperial capital."

"And this is Mr. Boutu, a Commander of the Yan City Guard Army. He’s here investigating a series of Ghost murders."

Boutu and Uluu greeted each other.

Uluu gestured in sign language—*Excuse me, are you talking about the criminal at large, the one who killed seventeen Ghosts in a row in Yao City and Yan City?*

Surprisingly, Boutu understood without needing a Translation. "Yes," he said. "Do you have any leads? I know sign language, so please, tell me in detail."

Uluu gestured another question—*I heard the murdered Ghosts were all former Old People of the Empire.*

Boutu confirmed, "That’s right. Before they died, the murdered Ghosts were all officials of the Empire. We would be very grateful if you have any leads."

Uluu shook his head.

Boutu said softly, "We have reason to suspect that it might be a Wuzi Ghost. Eyewitnesses claim the killer wears Ghost Armor and leaves behind strange stone carvings at the crime scenes."

All the Ghosts who were attacked had been influential figures in the Empire, which suggested the perpetrator harbored a deep-seated hatred for the Empire.

Uluu signed—*The war is over. I don’t think the Wuzi People would do such a thing. Only molten Wuzi are aggressive, and that only happens deep underground.*

Boutu seemed lost in thought.

Yaopu suddenly heard something. She said to the two of them, "A group of Ghosts has started fighting over a flowerpot. I have to go check it out. You two continue your chat."

With that, she CLANGED her way up the stairs.

The two who remained were silent for a moment.

Boutu let out a laugh. "How strange. I never thought the Bo Race and the Wuzi People would meet face-to-face like this."

Uluu thought to himself.

’So Boutu really is one of the Empire’s Old People.’

’No wonder he can understand my sign language. He was probably a soldier on the front lines.’

What Uluu was more curious about was how Boutu had survived the Bos God’s world-ending Divine Abilities. All the Bo People of the Empire had been turned into glass sculptures by that powerful Old God.

The other man suddenly asked, "You’re an Archaeologist. Would you like me to teach you the language and script of the Empire?"

Uluu could hardly believe it.

He immediately signed—*Really?*

"Of course. But in return, please teach me about the script, customs, and living conditions of the Wuzi People."

Boutu’s smile faded. "If the killer is one of the Wuzi People, I can track him down faster. If not, then we can rule them out as suspects sooner."

Uluu nodded.

Just then, Uluu was struck by a wave of dizziness. A powerful, warm energy suddenly flooded his entire body, and his form, shrouded in a black robe, began to glow faintly.

Across from him, Boutu smiled. "Congratulations. This is a Blessing from a God. It seems you’ve done something remarkable. Quick, offer your thanks to the Lord God."

Uluu hastily knelt on the ground and recited a prayer piously in his heart.

’Great Lord Yao God, thank you for your Blessing upon Uluu...’

...

「A moment earlier」

Luh Yao had noticed a series of notifications appearing on his screen.

Another little person with the qualifications for a Hero had appeared.

This time it was one of the Wuzi People, named Uluu.

He converted him.

On the character portrait, a metal figure stood by a pool of lava. The black mud covering his body vanished, revealing the true, silver form of a Wuzi.

A shuttle-shaped Earth Traveling Boat plummeted into the lava, while Uluu clung to a cliff with one hand, narrowly avoiding the same fate in the sea of fire.

Beneath the portrait was a line of text.

—If you’ve never flipped an Earth Traveling Boat, you’re not driving fast enough.

...

[Wuzi Race LV 7] Uluu

Mana Value: 43/43

[Crow Element]

A Crow Element lifeform with a long lifespan. Can find and use the Crow Element to replenish and strengthen itself.

[Dual Form]

The closer to a solid state, the more stable and inert. The closer to a liquid state, the more aggressive and active.

...

In addition, Uluu also had the abilities [Archaeology] and [Geology].

...

[Geology]

Skilled at exploring the world’s material composition, internal structure, external features, and the interactions and evolution between its various layers. Has a chance to discover various rare mineral deposits.

...

Uluu’s appearance brought about a series of changes.

[Uluu has invented a new profession: Geologist.]

[Uluu has discovered coal.]

[The emergence of Geologists has granted the Yao Race the ability to record and study the subterranean world. The underground structure and perspective are now officially unlocked.]

Luh Yao immediately discovered that the world beneath the surface was no longer invisible; he now had an underground-layer perspective.

Take Saniluo, for example.

By clicking on a cave entrance, he could see a network of tunnels underground. Sand Worms were inside, excavating rock, moving earth, and swallowing subterranean ore, which they would then transport to the surface for the Dwarfs to use in Refining metals.

Just like the emergence of writing and History, the birth of Geology made the visualization of the entire world clearer and more detailed.

Luh Yao had a sudden realization.

The simulator was an observation device that used civilization as its medium.

Initially, the player could only see the population and Faith of the Fragment World; everything else had to be inferred.

To perform high-precision observation and operations, the civilization itself had to evolve to a higher level.

Luh Yao was in a good mood.

The addition of the Wuzi People had an immediate and obvious effect.

This group of unique lifeforms lived underground. While not skilled at surface construction or cultivation, the subterranean world was their home turf, and each one of them possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the underground, backed by years of experience.

The Wuzi People would fill the gap in the Yao Race’s understanding of the subterranean world.

The simulator’s notifications continued to pop up.

[Tie Sai has created "Lying."]

[Because of the appearance of "Lying," the Yao Race has discovered Art.]

[Tie Sai has become a Legend.]

’A Legendary painter?’

Luh Yao clicked on "Lying."

...

["Lying"]: Defense -1, Attack +2. A special painting created by Tie Sai that absorbs the anguish of the brokenhearted to grow slowly over time.

Viewing this painting has a high chance of inflicting a short-term [Chaos] or [Weakness] status, and a small chance of granting a [Joy] status.

Tie Sai used his brush to depict the pain and bewilderment of a heartbroken man, creating an image with a piercing quality that strikes straight at the heart.

...

To be able to create a growing Artifact, Tie Sai truly deserved the title of Legend.

’Well done,’ Luh Yao thought.

If this painting was passed down continuously, it would slowly grow. He could always look up its entry in the Golden Field’s back-end system, so he wasn’t worried about it getting lost.

Luh Yao continued to read.

[Pawa has invented the quill pen and Smoke Ink.]

[Due to the invention of the quill pen and Smoke Ink, the literacy rate of the Yao Race has slightly increased.]

[Pawa has invented a new profession: Writer.]

Below that was the option to convert Pawa into a Hero.

Luh Yao converted him as well.

The portrait showed a figure in Brass Armor, his face completely hidden by a helmet. However, this Armor Warrior wasn’t holding a sword or fighting enemies. Instead, he was sitting at a desk, quill in hand, writing furiously.

The caption under his personal portrait read:

—To die in battle is for death to destroy death.

The [Writer] ability was added to Pawa’s profile.

...

[Writer]: Has created incredible masterpieces and possesses a high reputation. Has a chance to have a burst of creative inspiration.

...

The only strange thing was that Pawa’s name had changed to [Matthews].

Luh Yao checked his Personal History.

...

At age 66, Pawa intentionally committed suicide. After death, his Ghost changed its name to Matthews and began writing "The Crystal Empire."

...

This guy knew how to do a series.

Ending a series by committing suicide, then starting a new one under a different name.

Luh Yao had to admit, this was the work of a pro.

The little people of the Yao Race had all made significant achievements, pushing the world’s civilization forward in their respective fields.

’I guess I should get to work, too.’

He clicked to enter the Golden Field and looked toward the World-Dimension Space.

In the vast, boundless darkness, a massive, unified world-body caught Luh Yao’s attention.
