Chapter 221 - 214: Today I May Die, But I Will Forever Be Their God
The turning point came from an accidental overlap.
Bos God used the Fire of Faith to steer his Divine Kingdom, crashing it into King Wuzi’s slow-moving one. Unfortunately, a small accident occurred midway; his Divine Kingdom collided with a drifting Fragment World, throwing it slightly off course.
But this wasn’t a problem.
Bos God seized the opportunity, wedging his Divine Kingdom against the Fragment World and using its Rule Power to pull the Wuzi Kingdom into a firm lock.
Apostles Yanihu and Karlo pursued the Sand People into the overlapping zone. After killing them, they began to round up the Wuzi People and convert their Faith.
Although the Fragment World was dilapidated, it was maintained by a fundamental Rule Power, making it more stable than most Divine Kingdoms.
Without a special passage or the intervention of a Main God, outside Gods and Apostles could not cross the overlapping zone to enter.
And there was no point in entering anyway. To the Gods, a Fragment World was nothing more than a discarded junkyard. Even if a few flowers might occasionally bloom within, trash was still trash.
Any truly valuable species and spaces within them had long been carved out and taken away by the Gods during their Ascension.
However, within that overlapping zone, Yanihu and Karlo’s Fires of Faith were extinguished, one after the other, before they could even send back a message.
This ruined Bos God’s good mood.
’Yanihu and Karlo weren’t weak. There was no way the Sand People could have turned the tables on them. Besides, they had already reported executing the Sand People.’
The most likely possibility was that King Wuzi had made a move.
’That was why the two Apostles were killed almost instantly, with no time to react. Only a God possessed that kind of power.’
Bos God sneered inwardly.
’Using this method to lure me into the overlapping zone... King Wuzi must have some powerful setup or trap waiting for me there.’
As the one holding a winning hand, there was no need to take any risks.
The deaths of two Apostles were a pity, of course, but killing them must have consumed some of King Wuzi’s Power of Faith. This was indirect proof that King Wuzi was at his wit’s end, resorting to ambushes and sneak attacks against mere Apostles.
Servants like Apostles could be created as long as one had an Apostle Mark. He had traded for several from the Fearless faction and still had some left.
Bos God wasn’t concerned.
As long as he devoured the Wuzi Kingdom, such losses were insignificant.
Not long after, a third Apostle, Shane, also fell on the front lines.
Still, Bos God maintained firm control. By constantly absorbing and converting the Wuzi People, he would continue to weaken King Wuzi’s Divine Body. It was a zero-sum game; as one waned, the other waxed.
His only threat was King Wuzi himself, another God.
What Bos God didn’t expect, however, was the silent invasion of his Empire by a species of Extraordinary Creature called Bully Locusts.
These disgusting insects destroyed vast quantities of grain and farmland, quickly straining the front-line army’s supply lines. Back in the Empire, localized famine and Chaos erupted.
This was what Bos God hated about Extraordinary Creatures.
They weren’t powerful, but they always caused some sort of inexplicable trouble.
According to a report from Sote, the Emperor of the Empire, the locusts originated in the Wuzi Kingdom, where they were a native wild species. Their numbers had been small in the barren Wuzi Kingdom, but the fertile lands of the Empire caused their population to explode.
The locusts disgusted him.
But what truly made Bos God wary was another species entirely.
The Black Water Mite.
This insect was the Clan of the Whistleblower.
The appearance of the Black Water Mites meant that the shadow of a Titled Deity now loomed over this Divine War.
A Ghost—the Ghost of a Titled Deity—was now wandering the battlefield.
Bos God grew extremely anxious.
The involvement of a Titled Deity shattered the balance and rules among the Gods. But King Wuzi wasn’t the Whistleblower’s Subordinate God... It was a puzzle Bos God couldn’t solve.
But the arrow was already on the bowstring; it had to be loosed.
Abandoning the Wuzi Kingdom was out of the question. The rise or fall of his Divine Kingdom depended on this single war!
Bos God resolved to end this war quickly.
Just then, King Wuzi could finally no longer hold back. He unleashed his divine might and began to slaughter the Imperial Army.
This played right into Bos God’s hands.
The soldiers died in a frenzied sacrifice, transforming into a scalding hot Fire of Faith that left Bos God feeling utterly invigorated.
King Wuzi’s Divine Body was as weak as he had anticipated. He looked like a mountain but was merely a paper tiger.
Today was the day!
Bos God revealed himself from concealment, dragging King Wuzi into a fight to the death.
He had already confirmed it with the Wuzi People who had surrendered to him: King Wuzi’s Miracles were explosion and dissolution.
In combat, he could make mud adhere to a target and then cause it to explode.
As for dissolution, it was an ability King Wuzi used to extract the Crow Element to create the Wuzi People; it had no combat application.
Beyond that, King Wuzi had no hidden trump cards.
His Divine Body’s life force was plummeting. He was powerless against Bos God’s Miracles and offensive, his body constantly suffering from localized Elemental Confusion and paralysis.
Just as Bos God was pressing his advantage, a bizarre Divine Descendant Giant sprang out of nowhere. The thing was level 99 and displayed terrifying Combat Power, comparable to that of a God.
This, contrary to what one might expect, put Bos God’s mind at ease.
’So this is King Wuzi’s trump card,’ he thought. ’A hidden, powerful Apostle.’
’To cultivate an Apostle with god-like power from such a meager population must have consumed all his accumulated reserves and strength. And a threat you can see is no threat at all.’
Bos God wasn’t concerned.
An Apostle was, in the end, just an Apostle. Though the gap between an Apostle and a God seemed like a fine line, it was in truth as vast as the difference between heaven and earth.
While fending off the Apostle’s attacks, Bos God continued to unleash his Miracles and other abilities, steadily chipping away at the Life Value of King Wuzi’s Divine Body.
Before long, the Apostle vanished.
Bos God immediately realized it wasn’t a true Apostle, but something generated by powerful Magic or an Artifact. ’No wonder,’ he thought, ’it didn’t have a single special ability.’
