I Have a God Simulator

Chapter 157 - 152: Run, Hero

The situation in the Southern New Continent had also stabilized. All that was left was to let the Elves, the Elf Lake, and the humans interact naturally with the various Extraordinary Creatures.

Luh Yao stood up, stretching his arms, shoulders, and neck.

The New Era’s version update had made him a little tense, and he wished he could solve all the new problems in one go to stabilize the world’s entire framework once again.

And Luh Yao had indeed done so.

However, after a period of intense mental concentration, he felt exhausted once he relaxed.

He yawned. "Xiaohuo, heat some water for my feet. Not too hot."

"Yes, Lord God."

The Cactus Ball climbed out of its pot, shook off the dirt, and nimbly hopped off the table, scurrying outside.

Luh Yao’s thoughts turned to another matter.

’The New Year is coming up. What am I going to do about the simulator when I go back home?’

He took out a USB drive and tried to copy the God Simulator source file. The file was still 20 MB, and he easily copied it onto the drive.

Luh Yao first closed the original program, then tried clicking the simulator’s source file on the USB drive.

The screen went black, then the game’s start menu appeared.

It ran normally.

Luh Yao clicked "Continue Game" and found there were no issues.

If the source file on the USB drive worked, then it should theoretically work on another computer, too.

The simulator seemed to have some kind of deep, personal binding ability. Just like before with Prayer God Jia Xiaokai, his Prophet Hai Chengyao had been completely unable to launch the simulator.

A thought suddenly occurred to Luh Yao.

’Can I run two instances at once?’

He tried clicking the simulator’s program again.

There was no response.

’It’s no use.’

The simulator didn’t support running two instances.

In any case, he should be able to play when he went home for the New Year.

This set Luh Yao’s mind at ease.

While he was soaking his feet, a notification suddenly popped up on the screen.

—Great God, a Believer has performed a feat far surpassing its peers. Do you wish to transform it into a Hero?

[Yes][No]

’A new Hero has been born?’

Luh Yao clicked the text of the Hero transformation prompt, and the view switched to a forest on the Western Continent.

The camera locked onto a small animal.

A rabbit.

[Off-Road Rabbit].

Luh Yao was baffled.

’What’s this all about?’

He clicked on the Off-Road Rabbit.

...

[Off-Road Rabbit LV4]

Life Value: 64/64

Mana Value: 21/21

Damage: 2

Defense: 1

Speed: 9

[Off-Road LV4]

Can run at high speed for long periods to evade enemies.

[Forest Element LV1]

A Forest Elemental Creature that contributes to the rapid growth of forests. All its Attributes are enhanced while in a forest. The effect depends on ability level and Life Value.

...

This rabbit was clearly not the original [Off-Road Rabbit]; it lacked Isabel’s mark, and its level was lower.

Luh Yao clicked [Yes].

’I wonder what a rabbit Hero is all about?’

The pixelated rabbit’s body lit up with a white glow, and the title [Hero] appeared above its head.

Besides its name changing to [Heroic Off-Road Rabbit], it still didn’t have a personal name, though it did gain a section for [History].

...

[History]

At the age of 12, it discovered the [Aegir’s Fire] volcano was about to erupt. By running frantically to sound the alarm, it saved thousands of humans and other creatures.

...

’So that’s what happened.’

Luh Yao had a flash of insight.

’Wait a minute... A volcanic eruption?’

’This must have happened on the Western Continent while I was focused on the Elf Lake.’

Luh Yao switched his view to [Aegir’s Fire].

Now, many more Fire Elemental Creatures were gathered around the black volcano.

Among them were the [Blazing Chicken], [Mad Flame Bird], and [Scaly-Horned Giant Snail] that Luh Yao had seen before, as well as one type of Fire Elemental Creature he hadn’t.

Fire Wild Ox.

...

[Fire Wild Ox LV4]

Life Value: 166/166

Mana Value: 12/12

Damage: 3

Defense: 5

Speed: 6

[Thick Hide]

Innately possesses high Life Value.

[Fire Element]

Can continuously restore Life Value while in fire. Attacks inflict additional fire element damage.

...

Thanks to the interaction between the [Fire Box] and [Aegir’s Fire], as well as the amplification of the Fire Element, the area had gradually turned into a settlement for Fire Elemental Creatures.

Problems soon followed. The volcano’s size expanded further, and coupled with the ever-increasing number of Fire Elemental Creatures, it began to erupt sporadically.

Fortunately, [Aegir’s Fire] was located on the far northern edge of the Western Continent. Given its slow rate of expansion, it would at most engulf a certain area of the forest and posed no threat to Yao City.

However, the Hunters and Adventurers who came here, as well as the various creatures living nearby, would inevitably have to face unpredictable eruptions.

Luh Yao had attempted to move it many times before, but all his efforts had ended in failure.

[Aegir’s Fire] was simply too large; it was a black volcano in and of itself, and one that was still expanding. It wasn’t a small wonder like the [Forest House], which could be transported.

Wonders that could be easily relocated, like the [Dwarf Fortress], were far too rare.

However, the key to the eruptions wasn’t any of that. It was [Aegir’s Fire] itself.

The ammunition stock next to [Aegir’s Fire LV2] had changed to (7/6), and the numbers had turned an ominous red.

In other words, the meteorites were now refilling too quickly, causing the stock of Flaming Giant Stones to exceed its maximum limit.

At that moment, the Fire Dragon Spirit atop the black volcano was still roaring, appearing rather agitated.

’Could this be the reason?’

Luh Yao tried aiming at a stretch of deep sea to the north and launched a meteor shower.

After this round of bombardment was complete, [Aegir’s Fire] actually calmed down, its ammunition count returning to a normal 6/6. The Fire Dragon stopped peeking out, and the area around the volcano gradually grew quiet.

’Problem solved.’

Luh Yao made a mental note to clear out the meteorite stock regularly to prevent the volcano from erupting.

Just then, a new notification appeared on the game interface.

[The Heroic Off-Road Rabbit has received the gratitude and welcome of Yao City.]

[Yao City has recognized the Off-Road Rabbit as a beneficial creature.]

[Yao City has begun to raise Off-Road Rabbits.]

[Yao City has mastered methods for raising and utilizing Off-Road Rabbits.]

[Rabbit-ear hats have become popular in Yao City.]

Luh Yao was momentarily speechless.

’Is this how you people treat a Hero?’

’You can’t make a Hero shed both blood and tears... Even a cornered rabbit will bite.’

He looked down upon Yao City and saw that some people had already started raising Off-Road Rabbits.

These small, mild-tempered Extraordinary Creatures were not very aggressive and weren’t hostile toward humans. Most importantly, they were fast, so the people of Yao City used them to deliver letters and transport small goods.

As payment, the people of Yao City fed the rabbits potatoes, soybeans, and berries.

Thanks to the sprint of an unknown rabbit Hero, the fate of the entire Off-Road Rabbit race took a historic turn.

They were the first Extraordinary Creatures to formally march into a human city, and they had successfully completed a species invasion!

Luh Yao scratched his head.

’Oh well, it seems to be consensual.’

He yawned and prepared to turn off the monitor.

Another message popped up on the game interface.

Luh Yao couldn’t help but feel annoyed. ’Is this ever going to end? Is it that hard for me to get a normal night’s sleep?’

But when he saw the words on the screen, he immediately sat back down.

"Xiaohuo, pour me a cup of green tea. Make it strong."

’Are you even young if you don’t pull all-nighters?’

Luh Yao stared intently at the computer screen.

It showed:

[The Heroic Off-Road Rabbit has awakened the Silvanus Tree. Please go and claim the treasure from the Silvanus Tree.]

He had completely forgotten about this.

The [Golden Field] could be opened again. The prerequisite was the birth of a Forest Elemental Hero.

Originally, Luh Yao had thought this role would surely fall to the Wandering Elf. It had a high level, powerful abilities, and intelligence, making it a cut above the rest of the Forest Elemental Creatures.

But who would have thought that when given the chance, it would prove useless.

Since evolving from a Tree Person into a Wandering Elf, it had achieved nothing of note.

Instead, it was the Off-Road Rabbit, something no one would have ever paid attention to, that unexpectedly rose to the occasion at a critical moment and forged a path forward for its entire race!

’Though I don’t know if it was just scared by the volcano into running around in a daze... looking at the result, it saved many lives, and that makes it a Hero.’

Luh Yao switched his view to the castle and clicked on the golden leaf.

He entered the [Golden Field].

The Silvanus Tree still stood tall enough to touch the heavens, like a pillar of the world in the vast field.

A card flew out from the glittering, star-dusted tree.

...

[Natural Secret Language LV10]: Faith +10/hour, Mana Value +1000.

A Magic Book of unknown origin. It is permanently inscribed with the Magic [Magic Guessing].

Equipment Requirement: [Wisdom Lv20]

...

Luh Yao knew at a glance.

’This thing was prepared by the Forest God—Isabel’s previous life—specifically for herself.’

’Wait a minute.’

He suddenly realized something.

’Natural Magic Staff, Natural Secret Language... Could they be part of a set?’
