I Have a God Simulator

Chapter 118 - 113: The White God’s Struggle

Making it in the forest is all about being ruthless, having a big crew, and staying loyal.

Back in the day, Bai the Second heard his boss say that all the time.

The boss was the head of the White Mane Race. His body was covered in scars—trophies from his battles against all kinds of monsters. They were enough to command respect from allies and enemies alike.

The forest was vast, large enough for many tribes to inhabit.

But the forest was also small, as friction and conflict were ever-present.

The White Mane Race’s rivals were a pack of Forest Wolves. The wolves were a powerful faction—numerous, organized, and ruthlessly fierce.

After the White Mane Race grew stronger, they went to war with the Forest Wolves whose territory bordered theirs.

After suffering casualties amounting to a quarter of their clan, the White Mane Race gritted their teeth and held on to the end.

The boss lost an eye, but the Wolf King breathed his last.

The pyrrhic victory was followed by a clan-wide celebration.

With a wider territory and more food and space, the White Mane Race’s status in the forest rose even further.

They just needed to wait a while, birth more little ones, and the whole clan would recover. If they were lucky, they might even receive a reward from the Forest God.

Disaster struck without warning.

Vast swathes of land sank into the sea, a Hurricane in the ocean blotted out the sun, and black cracks appeared in the sky. The whole world seemed to be ending. Everyone in the forest said the Forest God had fallen.

Bai the Second was scared to death.

’Even a God has fallen. This world is doomed.’

But the boss said, "Don’t panic, follow me."

The boss led the entire tribe to abandon their original forest, avoiding the sinking land and escaping the encroaching sea. He resolutely led the whole clan north, migrating to the highest ground.

The Molting Monsters and Corrupters appeared.

These two types of monsters from the Otherworld began to slaughter all living things in the forest.

Especially the Molting Monsters.

They liked to peel the skin off their prey in one piece, forcing their victims to feel the agony of being flayed alive. This painful ritual would please the [Skinner] and bestow a Blessing upon the Molting Monsters.

The Molting Monsters set their sights on the White Mane Race.

The boss, leading the charge, frantically wrestled with the monsters, his one remaining eye filled with unyielding courage and ferocity.

The other pigs followed suit, fighting bravely to defend their clan.

Bai the Second fled without looking back.

He felt there was no chance of victory. Whether one-on-one or in a group, the White Mane Race could not contend with the Molting Monsters. It was a war they could never win.

’Why fight? Why resist? Run! Running is the only way!’

Many years later, he would often recall that night he fled.

It took Bai the Second a long time to understand that without his clan fighting to the death, he would never have had the chance to escape.

He survived.

Bai the Second was the sole survivor of the entire clan. Like the lowliest worm or gopher, he burrowed deep into the mud, hiding in the foul, rotting soil, not daring to move a muscle.

Hunger changed him. He fled the dangerous land for the water, hunting fish and shrimp to fill his belly.

In desperate times, even a pig has the courage to go to sea.

Bai the Second discovered he had a miraculous ability: he could always find good things.

For example, he found a treasure in the sea: the [Tyrant Whale Whiskers]. This treasure allowed Bai the Second to live in the sea long-term, just like a fish.

For another, he could find the corpses of Extraordinary Creatures.

Consuming these rotting corpses made Bai the Second stronger, little by little, until he could hardly feel any Weakness or aging in his body. He understood: eating brought strength.

’As long as I keep eating the corpses of Extraordinary Beings, I can live forever and grow ever stronger!’

As the first White Mane Pig in history to live in the sea, the Second was extremely cautious. He almost always stayed underwater, never surfacing unless absolutely necessary.

At times, he even felt he had become a fish.

A fish that looked like a wild boar.

He lived in solitude, swimming, searching. Surviving as the last survivor and the shame of the White Mane Race.

Even so, he was eventually targeted by the Molting Monsters that remained in the area.

This time, Bai the Second did not run. Things were different now!

He rammed his enemies into the sea one by one, tearing the monsters to shreds in the water, venting his rage as he ripped into his hated foes.

This act, however, attracted a [Mad Skinner]. Those monsters used a kind of inextinguishable fire, which severely injured Bai the Second.

He could only flee back under the water.

This time, he escaped to a small island north of the continent.

While recovering from his injuries, Bai the Second suddenly sensed something. ’Treasure!’

This feeling was stronger than ever before, like an Acupuncture needle, making it impossible for him to even rest—which meant the treasure was rarer and more precious than any he had found before.

Enduring his injuries, he dove underwater, dug through the seabed’s silt and gravel, and found his target in a deep-sea trench: a decaying Tree Person.

Famished, the Second devoured the Tree Person’s corpse and gnawed out something hard from within—it was a shimmering Divine Format!

’The key to godhood.’

Overwhelming bliss struck the ill-fated pig.

Tears streamed down his face in an instant.

All the years of scraping by and bearing it all, the flight and Timidity from so long ago, the loneliness and despair of living alone—it all seemed to be repaid by fate in this one moment.

From this day forward, there was no more Bai the Second in the world, only the God [White God].

The entire world was now completely different from before.

He could see the abilities of every Extraordinary Life, as well as their health and Mana. A multitude of numbers and words now reconstructed the world...

He miraculously and swiftly understood everything; the intricacies were beyond words.

This was the domain of a God.

But as for what a God was supposed to do, the White God wasn’t quite sure.

The White God tried hard to recall the rumored behaviors of gods.

’Believers.’

’Right, first I need to recruit Believers.’

’Then an Apostle. I need to get an Apostle to act as my proxy in the world. I don’t have one for now, so I’ll just fill the role myself.’

’And a Divine Statue.’

’A Divine Statue... I’ll deal with that later. Faith is what’s important. Right, I need to get some Faith first!’

The White God grew excited.

As long as He had enough Faith, He could unleash two Miracles Exclusive to Him as a God.

[Stamping]: Consumes 20 Faith to perform a stamping attack within a designated area.

When this Miracle was unleashed, it was as if an invisible giant palm descended from the sky, crushing an elliptical crater into the ground.

While the area of effect for Stamping couldn’t be expanded, its size and shape could be adjusted. The White God directly changed it into the shape of a giant pig’s trotter to show off his might!

[Deterrence]: Consumes 40 Faith. All targets within the area have their damage and defense reduced by 20%, with a chance to trigger Fear.

With one roar of Deterrence, the White God sent most of the surrounding beasts and humans cowering on the ground, afflicted with Fear.

He began His comfortable life as a God.

...

One day, as He was napping on a sand dune, the sky suddenly turned a strange shade of red.

Without warning, giant meteorites fell from the sky like a torrential downpour, bombarding the island and smashing the unprepared White God, nearly killing Him on the spot.

He desperately fled into the water, barely escaping with His life.

Behind Him, the island had been smashed into the sea by the cataclysm.

The White God had a sudden awakening!

’So even gods have their limits.’

’This won’t do!’

’I can’t keep being this lazy!’

’Otherwise, the next cataclysm might actually kill me.’

It was said that gods only fell in a Divine War... If He were to fall to a rock from the sky, the White God would find that hard to accept.

He began to actively search for His first Believers.

Soon, the White God found some people who had been shipwrecked. Among them was a child named Yan Jiu, who seemed quite sharp and also possessed the [Longevity] ability.

’He’s the one!’

The White God saved Yan Jiu, displayed a Divine Miracle, and called Himself Apostle Bai. Then He gave the boy guidance, telling him to go out and recruit Believers.

But the results were minimal.

The reason was that there were already other gods in the world now.

Among all the gods, that [Yao God] was especially famous. It was said His Divine Power was infinite and that He had slaughtered and erased many other gods, which made the White God a little nervous.

’I absolutely cannot confront him head-on.’

He had His Believers develop their following in secret, avoiding the areas controlled by the Yao God and not revealing their identities.

However, the Yao God’s Believers were too fast. Wielding the *Gospel*, they poached a large portion of the population by giving away food and clothes.

The White God learned from this painful experience and decided to imitate his rival.

’If you can give away food, then I, the White God, will give away something even better!’

’I’ll give them gems!’

The White God found many gems and pearls on the seabed and on islands. He used them all as resources to attract Believers, sending Yan Jiu and the others to expand their numbers.

When a God does not wish to be seen, He cannot be perceived. But when necessary, a God can also reveal His true form. He used His Disguise as Apostle Bai to awe and lead the Believers.

This time, it was truly effective.

The White God’s followers grew significantly, reaching an unprecedented 149 people! Although a dozen or so later defected, that wasn’t important. The overall trend was positive.

The key was that the gem strategy was working.

The White God began digging for gems that could be exchanged for Faith everywhere, searching with even more gusto.

Until, on a small island, He was struck by the second disaster from the heavens.

The same kind of island, the same meteor shower.

The same utter helplessness.

For the first time, the White God truly felt it: there were gaps between gods, too.

’Looks like I’m back to being Bai the Second again.’

The familiar feeling was like coming home.
