Chapter 115 - 110: Prophet and Heretic
A new name was carved into the Yao City Monument.
"Hemira: The first Legendary Prophet of Yao City. She authored the *Divine Gospel*, led Yao City in spreading the God’s Faith to the outside world, and completed an unprecedented pilgrimage. She represents courage and perseverance, a model for all future generations."
People gathered around the Monument to mourn the Legendary Prophet.
In Yao City, everyone wore a piece of cotton to commemorate Hemira’s passing.
But life had to go on.
Before long, Order was restored in Yao City.
A new notification appeared on the screen.
—A Believer has mastered Theology. Would you like to transform her into a Prophet?
[Yes][No]
Luh Yao shook off his melancholy.
’The third-generation Prophet has appeared so quickly. It’s truly out with the old, in with the new.’
He immediately clicked yes and switched to the Divine Hall’s perspective.
Inside the Divine Hall, a 30-year-old female villager with a scorpion-tail braid was holding a copy of the *Gospel*.

...
Luh Yao was dumbfounded.
’What the heck is this!?’
Yaoshao was doing just fine as a Hero, but she actually changed her class to Prophet.
’Her pile of skills just screams ’jack of all trades, master of none’; she knows a little bit of everything.’
However, since she had chosen Prophet as her path, Luh Yao respected her personal choice.
With Hemira’s death, Yao City did indeed have a vacancy for a Prophet.
Yaoshao knelt before the Divine Statue and said, "Lord Yao God, I was once a Pharmacist who wanted to heal the sick. But in Yan City, the citizens don’t trust Pharmacists."
"Medicine is always scarce, and there aren’t many illnesses that can be cured."
"So everyone thinks Pharmacists are useless, more like charlatans. Many people believe that praying and worshipping the Divine Hall Council is the way to cure illnesses."
"I thought that if I could study Theology at the Divinity School and combine it with herbal treatments, I could help more people."
"Lord God, this is what I truly think."
"I know it’s foolish, but I want to try..."
"Prophet Hemira was my Theology teacher. She told me to persevere and encouraged me, saying this might be a new future for Pharmacists."
"Before the pilgrimage, my teacher had someone inform me that she hoped I would come to Yao City to continue improving and enriching Theology."
"My teacher’s pilgrimage allowed me to feel the vastness and fervor of the Power of Faith. This power can dispel sickness and suspicion, fill people with fighting spirit and unity, and save a great many lives."
"Lord God, I will do everything in my power to become a worthy Prophet!"
Her confession clarified the whole story for Luh Yao.
Basically, medicine couldn’t save the sick, so Yaoshao wanted to become a Prophet and save the world with Theology.
Luh Yao looked down on Yao City, observing Yaoshao’s every move.
Hemira’s successor showed no stage fright. After establishing her position as Prophet, she made a series of changes in Yao City.
First, Yaoshao relaxed the city’s various strict regulations.
Drinking was no longer strictly forbidden.
Worshipping at the Divine Hall was no longer a mandatory daily ritual.
The Divinity School was opened to commoners and outsiders.
The Beer Theater extended its opening hours.
...
She added several new measures.
The Divinity School began to publicly recruit apprentices. These apprentices had to pay a certain amount of Sea Shells for their studies, and upon passing the Divinity School’s exams, they would become Scholars recognized by Yao City.
The former Divine Hall Army was officially renamed the [Divine Hall Council] and would no longer be just a military force for protecting the Divine Hall.
The Divine Hall Council was composed mainly of Theology Scholars. Its duties included researching and spreading the Faith of Yao God, protecting and making offerings to the Divine Hall, and managing the Holy City. In short, the Divine Hall Council was the city’s ruling body, formed with the Divine Hall and Divine Faith at its core.
Worshippers were encouraged to donate Sea Shells. Yao City needed funds to maintain Order and the sanctity of the Divine Hall. The Prophet would lead the Divine Hall Council in regularly clarifying doubts and explaining Theology for the Believers.
...
Luh Yao was a little surprised as he watched Yaoshao’s policies being implemented one by one.
This third-generation Prophet wasn’t old, but she was bold. She had some of the same reformist zeal Yuzou had back in the day.
After a brief period of turmoil and doubt, Yao City quickly adapted to the new Order.
Most importantly, the city’s resources, which had been depleted by the previous large-scale cultural outreach, were now allowing the economy to recover rapidly under Yaoshao’s series of measures.
The Divine Hall Council officially took over the governance of the city. It also dispatched some Scholars to Yan City and Saniluo, maintaining close contact with the other two cities.
Hemira’s death and Yaoshao’s arrival symbolized Yao City embarking on a brand new path.
...
While Yao City was developing rapidly, a major incident occurred in the neighboring Yan City.
A heretical group had emerged in the city.
A small group of people was worshipping an Evil God called the [White God]. Because the [White God] had few Believers, Luh Yao couldn’t detect any change in the Faith statistics, but the nature of this was extremely serious.
Commander Yan Geller arrested five of the Evil God’s Believers.
They were all locked in a stone house at the base of the lighthouse, surrounded by Hounds. At the slightest disturbance, the Hounds would immediately bark to sound an alarm.
Luh Yao took this extremely seriously.
Aside from the very beginning, this was the first time another God had infiltrated his territory.
The strange thing was, this Evil God had no definite Altar or Divine Statue. The [White God] was more like a Legend passed down by word of mouth.
Cyrus drove the [Skeleton King Armor] all over the Eastern Continent but found no suspicious objects.
The Deep Sea Lord patrolled the seas and crossed the oceans, but also found no statues or Temples.
Isabel mounted her Magic Staff and flew over the entire world, but still came up empty-handed.
Luh Yao was a bit puzzled.
’They’ve searched by land, sea, and air without finding anything. This [White God] can’t possibly be a fake, right?’
’Did the villagers just make up an Evil God?’
He ordered Isabel to interrogate the heretics.
Isabel quickly reported back.
"My lord, they have never seen a Divine Statue of the [White God]; they only heard about him from others. They say that as long as you worship the White God, silently chant his name in your heart, and offer your Faith, you will receive the White God’s Blessing."
"The White God gives them gems and pearls."
"That’s why they have Faith in the White God."
The reason for their Faith was quite compelling.
Luh Yao became interested in the [White God]’s identity.
Isabel continued, "According to them, the first Believer to spread the Faith of the [White God] was named Yan Jiu. However, Yan Jiu has been missing for a long time, and they don’t know where to find him."
Yan Jiu.
Luh Yao suddenly remembered.
’Isn’t that the oldest of the three children from the [Salt Race]?’
The last time he saw Yan Jiu, the boy was only eight years old. He should be quite old by now.
Others might not know, but Luh Yao, being a God, saw everything clearly. Yan Jiu’s father was the Commander of Yan City, the [Corrupted Guard] Yan Geller—and Luh Yao suspected him of being complicit.
Faced with the Apostle’s questioning, an expression of Fear appeared above Yan Geller’s head.
"Lord Apostle, I don’t know why this is happening... Yan Jiu went to sea on a ship when he was thirteen."
"That ship sank in the deep northern sea, and there were no survivors."
The Yan City Commander said, trembling, "A short while ago, merchants in the city said that a few islanders came to sell gems, and their leader called himself Yan Jiu. I thought it was just a coincidence."
"I didn’t expect that after seeing him, I could sense that it was really him."
"But Yan Jiu absolutely refused to tell me what had happened over the past twenty years."
"Later, I found out that they were using gems to lure citizens and secretly spreading the Evil God’s Faith in the city..."
It seemed the [White God] did exist.
The sea and land had been searched repeatedly; there was nowhere to hide.
So, was it possible that the [White God]’s lair was underwater?
Luh Yao was eager to find out.
’Finally, a new player has spawned!’
