I Have a God Simulator

Chapter 83 - 78: Entering a New Era

A light drizzle began to fall.

The short autumn slipped away quietly. Almost overnight, the temperature plummeted.

After nightfall, the streets grew quiet, with fewer and fewer pedestrians. Only the sporadic barks of dogs and meows of cats could be heard. Outside the motorcycle factory dorms near the city outskirts, a streetlight stretched a lone figure’s shadow out long.

This late-night traveler was none other than Luh Yao.

The reason he was back so late was a company dinner. Having survived his recent ordeal, Boss Huang had finally been generous for once, treating everyone to a meal at Haidilao.

Back then, the Apostle Sirut had locked Boss Huang in his car, demanding to know where the key was. Boss Huang had been completely baffled.

Sirut had strangled Boss Huang, nearly killing him right there in the car.

After the coercive questioning, however, Sirut confirmed that Boss Huang truly knew nothing about Jia Xiaokai’s situation—he didn’t even know Jia Xiaokai had been arrested and still thought he had fled the country to lay low and avoid his creditors.

All of this information was confirmed after Isabel interrogated Sirut’s Wandering Soul.

Unfortunately, as the Apostle of the Lamp God, Lin Zecheng, Sirut’s knowledge was quite limited. He was merely following his God’s commands, just a high-level tool.

Luh Yao jogged home, put down his umbrella and bag, and went straight to his computer.

Daytime was for work; nighttime was for living.

He had, in fact, considered it.

’I’m not like ordinary people anymore. I have special abilities. Maybe I should consider quitting my job, escaping this life as a wage slave.’

Luh Yao seriously weighed his options.

’After quitting, I’d have to find another way to make money.’

’The fastest way to make money, of course, would be through those major ventures listed in the criminal code.’

’But do I have the guts for that?’

’Nope.’

’Am I ready to spend the rest of my life on the run?’

’Not that either.’

’Do I have the ruthlessness to kill without batting an eye, or the Madness and arrogance to make an enemy of all normal people?’

’Still no.’

Most importantly, Luh Yao really didn’t like business trips.

For someone in a gray or black-market line of work, constantly being on the move was an essential experience, one that couldn’t be avoided.

Luh Yao came to a sincere realization.

’At my core, I’m the very model of a good person. I just can’t play the villain.’

He crossed the "illegal ventures" branch off his list.

That left one other path.

Entrepreneurship.

The mere sight of the word made Luh Yao’s head ache.

’As someone who hates dealing with trouble, I’m probably just not destined for entrepreneurship in this lifetime.’

’What about cashing out some precious metals from the Pixel World via the simulator?’

’But then I’d have to find shops or buyers, which would easily attract unwanted attention.’

’I might even get marked as a fat sheep and targeted. Whether it was criminals tailing me or the police questioning me, it would be endless trouble.’

After eliminating all the wrong answers...

...whatever remains, however absurd, must be the closest thing to the right choice.

Continuing to go to work seemed to be the most suitable option for him at the moment.

It didn’t attract attention, and it gave him a fixed schedule to operate the simulator and continue to quietly develop his world.

There was no need to rush things.

Luh Yao felt that was perfectly fine.

...

On the computer screen, the little people of the Garlic Tribe had begun to domesticate horses.

Camels were also usable, but they were much slower than horses and better suited for carrying heavy loads. Horses were an upgrade in their line of animal transport.

The arrival of dogs livened up the tribe.

The Garlic Tribe had an abundance of food, so the dog population grew rapidly. They not only served as Hounds, but some also became pets.

Building on this, the resident gamer, Muke, whipped up something new.

[Muke has invented dog fighting.]

[The Garlic Tribe has learned to raise and use fighting dogs. Everyone’s Morale has increased slightly.]

This was the first time Luh Yao had seen a tribal invention increase Morale.

The advent of dog fighting led to a surge of martial fervor in the tribe. The little pixel people started turning into hotheads at the slightest provocation.

"Hey! Your horse just hit my horse!"

"So? Why didn’t it move?"

"You’re not going to apologize?"

"This is between the horses. You’re being nosy."

"Release the hound!"

"Bring it on!"

And just like that, the two little people who had gotten into a spat over their horses would summon their dogs and let the two animals fight it out.

Both owners would boast about their respective dogs. The winner would depart, triumphant and laughing, dog in tow. The loser would be left dejected, slinking home with his equally defeated canine.

This was a typical scene from the tribe’s daily dog fights.

They had dog fights to settle disputes, they had dog fights to celebrate, they had dog fights out of boredom... Most of the time, the little tribespeople were just looking for an excuse for a dog fight.

Before long, Muke even organized a tribal dog-fighting tournament.

He used a sheep pen as a venue, inviting all little people willing to participate to come and make friends over dog fighting. This small event gradually became a regular fixture, constantly expanding until it became the Garlic Tribe’s most important form of public entertainment.

Another Hero, Shang Li, seized the opportunity to partner with Muke, making the dog-fighting tournament bigger and better.

They commissioned Stonemasons to build a massive, circular plaza for gladiatorial combat centered around dogs. Besides fierce canines, other beasts such as wolves, wild boars, bears, and even lions gradually began to appear and fight in the arena.

A series of notifications popped up in the simulator.

[Muke and Shang Li have built the Beast Fighting Arena.]

[The Garlic Tribe has invented the Beast Fighting Arena.]

[Wonder Prototype discovered: Beast Fighting Arena.]

[Faith cost for constructing a Wonder for the first time has been reduced.]

[The Garlic Tribe’s Morale is soaring.]

[The Garlic Tribe is ecstatic.]

[The Garlic Tribe firmly believes that under the guidance of their God, they have entered a new era.]

—You shall name it the ___ Era.

Luh Yao didn’t get it, but he was profoundly stunned.

The wheel of the era, which he had tried so hard to push forward, had its turning point in a Beast Fighting Arena of all things.

Luh Yao typed three words.

A line of text slowly materialized on the screen.

[From their primitive beginnings, the people here have shown extraordinary potential.]

[From garlic to iron, the land began to reveal its secrets, the ocean filled them with excitement, and their God guided them onto a new path.]

[The Garlic Tribe has entered the Beast Fighting Era.]

The little pixel people raised their arms high and cheered.

"Great Yao God, thank you for Your guidance!"

"The Beast Fighting Era! This is the Beast Fighting Era!"

"A new journey! We will become extraordinary!"

"We are the God’s chosen! We are the one and only!"

"With the blessing of a mighty God, a mighty era has arrived!"

Watching the smiling faces pop up over the little people’s heads, Luh Yao couldn’t help but smile as well.

The only fly in the ointment was that entering a new era hadn’t generated any extra Faith.

’Oh well,’ he thought. ’What I have is enough for now.’

Luh Yao glanced at the top-right corner of the screen.

Population: 21,701 / Faith: 24,117

As long as he didn’t get into a large-scale Divine War, this Faith Reserve was by no means small.

Only then did Luh Yao remember that he seemed to have overlooked a notification.

The Beast Fighting Arena was the second Wonder Prototype. Looking at the description, the cost to build a Wonder had been reduced again.

He clicked on the [Miracle] tab.

Sure enough, the cost for a [Wonder] at the very bottom had become 3,000 points—a 40% discount.

Luh Yao thought to himself, ’I wouldn’t take it even if you gave it to me for free. I’m still counting on this place to develop.’

He opened his bag and carefully took out the plastic bag inside, afraid of crushing the fragile gift.

Inside the bag was the latest [Blessing].
