The Grand Catastrophe

Chapter Five: Dwarves and Jewels, part three (119)

Hejimal was rather frightened. No, the amount of fear running through him was enough to kill a normal frost dragon, his just wrapped back around to being calm. Something was wrong with these invaders.

His first clue to his probably near imminent demise, was the fact that none of them other than the tall purple-haired woman noticed him. His next clue was that said woman didn’t really seem to give a shit. He just stood there, they all stopped, and he tried to look scary.

It didn’t work of course, he was smarter than that. If a group of strange people walked up to your home and didn’t look frightened at all by the bodies in the yard, then something was up with them.

It would be better to simply ask why they were here, in fact. If he was polite, then maybe nothing bad would happen? After all, these people screamed power. His dragon senses told him that not only did all but the dwarve in this party have the most powerful of magical clothes, but that they themselves were powerful.

“Um, Hello?” Hejimal started, and the two short ones in front stopped and looked up at him.

It was then that he actually thought about the reasons that these people were probably here. They came with a dwarve, so they were probably aligned with them. He had been sent here to fight them, which he was ignoring in favor of not dying.

They were here to kill his father, or at least dispose of him and the quagoa leader. The Dwarves had undoubtedly hired them as mercenaries from outside of the mountain range. After all, they had access to some kind of human empire that he, nor his family and the quagoa knew much about. In all honesty, he might die here.

“Oh, that is a rather fat Frost Dragon, isn’t he Aura?” the pale skinned one said to the dark elf next to her.

“Hey don’t bully him the first second you meet him,” Well at least one of them was polite, “even if he is fat, you shouldn’t point it out. I think He’s been sent here to make us go away.”

Never mind, they all seemed a bit out of it right now. Or at the very least, they just weren’t focussing. To them, he was no threat. Of course, he was no idiot. He may have been fat, he may have stayed in his room all day, but at the end of the day he was one of his smarter siblings.

“I surrender,” he said, placed his head on the ground in submission.

He wasn’t dumb, he would die if he fought. The others looked at him with a bit of confusion, other than the pale and tall woman that wreaked of the undead. She seemed to remain the same throughout it all.

“I haven’t even beat you yet?” the small pale one asked more than stated.

“I am Hejimal, son of the Dragon Lord Olasird'arc Haylilyal. I humbly request that you don’t kill me,” he asked them, and they all looked to the undead woman in the back by the dwarve for guidance.

“Well, didn’t you say that you wanted a dragon Aura?” she asked, and the dark elf girl brightened.

“Yeah!” she excitedly said, and whipped her head back around to look at him, and in that instant he felt like he would die here anyway.

As the dragon known as Hejimal was tamed by Aura, Momonga thought to themselves. To her, this whole thing was a bit of luck. After all, now they had information. They had the information to properly gauge how strong the dragon Lord here was.

After all this dragon, while fat, seemed like one of the smarter ones. He surely had the knowledge that she would need in order to prepare for whatever fight she would have. She then refocussed as Aura’s taming skill went off and finished.

“Alright, now let’s get to the capital!” Aura chanted out cheerfully.

“Of Course, My lady,” the now tamed dragon said.

Momonga raised a brow. She had expected the dragon to be more fearful after all, the taming skill was basically just a concentrated fear aura. Sure, there were many beasts that wouldn’t faint or some other such thing, but they were much more powerful than Hejimal. She expected him to piss himself.

“Come on Lady Momonga, let’s go,” Aura said with a smile, and Momonga along with Shalltear and Gondo got onto the back to the dragon.

After she got onto the back of said dragon, the looked down and asked him a question. He had info she needed. It was only fair to ask, after all.

“So, Hejimal, what kinds of foes should we expect in the capital?” Momonga asked, and the dragon started his explanation.
