Chapter Six: Dragons and Cities
It was a tad bit annoying, in retrospect. That is to say, it was annoying having to deal with the idiot in front of her. You see, Momonga had been having a fun time simply talking about the history of the local area with the dragon beneath her, as one does. Yet, it had been ruined rather quickly as His father spoke after they had entered the royal palace.
Yet, before that, she had sent off Shalltear and Aura to go and take care of the Quagoa. Gondo was still with her. The dwarve was still fine, she had expected him to get a little overwhelmed in this quest. He was fine though, all around great, if his words were to be believed.
…
With Hejimal below her, she looked around the area. The buildings of the capital lay barren, with the demi-humans not even living in them. Some of them seemed to be lived in, yet most of them were left behind.
The palace itself was large, and was the first thing that she saw. It was tall, and went all the way up to the ceiling of the cave, which was several hundred feet tall. Rectangular was one way to describe it. With large blue pillars that went higher than the main roof of the palace reaching the ceiling of the cave, as had been said.
“Shalltear, Aura, could you two be a doll and go and subjugate the Quagoa? We can’t have them rise up in rebellion after all, and their gift for ore is a rather useful skill. Just leave enough of them alive to repopulate. I leave how many, to you,” she said to the two of them as they then got off.
Momonga smiled as they then ran off in the general direction of where the quagoa were. After a beat or two of simply watching them run off to do her bidding, Hejimal started up again. Sooner, rather than later, they were there.
The front door to the halls opened, and on the other side was a rather large selection of frost dragons. Said frost dragons were lazing around piles of gold they had collected. What did they use the gold for? She didn’t really know.
The parts of her mind that liked collecting things went off when she saw the many magical items that the dragon was just lazing on. The thought of collecting these tools, despite the fact that they belonged to the dwarves, was tantalizing.
Though, it was not meant to be as the main dragon, the one who she could only assume was this place’s dragon lord, spoke. His tone was loud, and that peeved her. The mild joy she had gained went down the drain, and she sighed as she looked over to Hejimal again.
“Hejimal, you utter fucking failure of a son, what have you done now?!” the dragon raged.
Hejimal, not bothering to answer his father, spoke, “Now presenting her majesty, Lady Momonga of the Sorceress’s Kingdom of Nazarick.”
“Hejimal, that is the dumbest fucking thing I think I’ve ever heard come from anyone’s mouth. Shut up you utter waste of space,” the dragon lord said simply, as if he wasn’t insulting one of his smarter sons.
“Oh by Me,” Momonga sighed, “It’s gonna be one of those days, isn’t it?” she asked herself.
…
That was how she got here in the first place. Ignoring the dragon lord, who she was now confident couldn’t harm her in any meaningful way, she looked around the room as he started yelling at his son. It was a nice place.
The ceiling was high, the walls were a gorgeous blue and white. The floor had different items scattered all about the place. Over all, it was nice and would be even nicer with the dragon lord dead.
“Are you done?” Momonga asked as he started up a rant again.
The dragon lord stopped for a second, and actually focussed on her. He blinked, now realizing something. Momonga simply blinked at him, slowly. It was kind of funny to just see him stop after all of his ranting.
“Those items,” he said simply, and wandered from the top of his pile of gold.
Momonga tilted her head, yet ignored him as he drew closer. He apparently didn’t realize just how weaker he was, because the draw of her magical gear was enough to make him lash out at her. He pounced at her.
It was then that she back handed him into the right wall, and he crumpled to the ground. She simply raised a brow at him, and cast one of her favorites spells. A translucent heart, the dragon lord’s heart, appeared in her hand.
She crushed his heart in her hands. The three, what she could only assume were female dragons and his mates, looked on at his corpse as it cooled. Momonga blinked, and turned to Hejimal. She had gotten off of his back while he had been ranting.
“Now Hejimal, which one of these women are your mother? Which one will live?” she asked.
