Chapter Five: Dwarves and Jewels, part Two (118)
…
“Honestly, people nowadays,” Momonga sighed as she looked at the bridge itself.
It was such a simple thing to see, but another to ponder. The bridge was out. That meant many things. One of them, was that there was an enemy that was strong enough to cut the ropes that had bound the bridge up. In fact, the bridge’s ropes had been strong enough to resist attacks from level 25s and under.
Then again, that didn’t mean all too much. She sighed, and turned from the gaping hole in the ground, to Shalltear. The Vampire looked up at the 7ft 2in overlord with large, blinking eyes. She straightened her back, and started describing strategy.
Aura, soon after she started babbling, turned to speak with her. Momonga, feeling like she was a teacher for once in her life, turned around and shushed her. The young girl took this in stride and stopped trying to speak with her for the moment.
She turned back to Shalltear, and continued rambling on what was best to do when fighting the unknown. She continued speaking for the next 15 minutes. As she finished, and Shalltear stood there, with much more knowledge of PvP in her head, she turned back to Aura.
“What did you want to talk about, Aura?” Momonga asked.
“Nothing really,” Aura deflected, and Momonga nodded.
…
“Here we have the Lava Caverns. This place is also one of the great warriors that slow or halt people from entering the capital,” Gondo said, and Momonga smiled as she looked down at the glow, “Though I can’t recall the actual name of the thing,” he admitted.
As they flew over the rather pretty lava lake, a large fish-like creature popped up and out of the surface, and looked at them. Then, after a beat or two, it went back under. Aura smiled at the creature. She seemingly thought it was cool.
“Normally this is a lot more scary and difficult. We’re flying though, so it’s a lot more safe than before. I also expected the fish to attack us right away,” he said, and the rest soaked in those words.
The area itself was rather self-explanatory. It was a large cavern with lava spilled out all over the area. Rivers of the stuff flowed like water. It had been this way for the past millennia, and it would be this way for many more.
“This place is pretty. Can I go play with the fish?” Aura asked, and turned to Momonga.
“Later Aura. We have work to do right now,” she said, and Aura nodded her head.
Shalltear herself was simply on the lookout for any beasts to kill. Anything that could possibly pose a challenge to her Goddess was watched like a hawk. There was nothing that mounted to that though, so she just kind of stared off into space for like fifteen minutes.
…
“Next, we have the Poisonous Caverns,” Gondo said as they walked up to the entrance of the place.
It was another large space. Momonga was starting to get tired of caves. Sure, she lived in a manmade one, but the tomb at least had plumbing. This was just a big place that had gas in it.
“Again, I forget the real name. There is a poisonous gas that leaks all throughout the cavern. While you get killed via poison, you have to navigate the different tunnels to get to the right place,” he said, and Momonga nodded her head.
Then she placed a spell on Gondo and Aura to make them immune to the poison. Gondo looked down at himself as the spell was cast. Aura just smiled, and grabbed the hand that hovered her head as Momonga cast the spell.
The older woman smiled, and rubbed the little girl’s head. Shalltear, still in guard mode, didn’t ask to be petted. Yet, it looked like she wanted to. Then, Momonga cast another spell.
“Path Of Titania,” Momonga chanted out, and a glowing ball of golden magic appeared in her hand.
Then, after a beat or two, it flowed out and into one of the many differing paths that were all around the room. The place itself was simply a large cave with many sulfur geysers. Nothing more, nothing less. It was a bit of a shame that there wasn’t anything really cooler here.
“Or I guess we can just use magic,” Gondo mumbled under his breath, and she giggled a little in her mind.
The dwarve was a very funny man when he wanted to be. Now, to the capital! At least that was what was going on in her head as she walked forward to the path.
…
“I mean sure, it’s cool how Lord TouchMe can just cut through space and time, but at the same time, it’s a bit simple compared to lady Buku,” Aura said, and Shalltear nodded her head.
“Personally, I think that Lord Pero is the better of the long ranged fighters. I mean, he made me after all. He also had a range of like, 1.5 kilometers,” Shalltear started, and Aura frowned.
The conversation continued in front of Momonga and Gondo. The older woman watched with a hefty dose of nostalgia. The dwarve on the other hand seemed a little annoyed at all the noise they were making. Though, they had rolled over all what they had come up against before this. It should be fine.
The conversation kept going even as they walked along. Momona watched as Gondo turned to her and spoke. He seemed a little confused.
“Go they always talk like that?” he asked, ad she nodded her.
Yet, as she was about to talk, something stopped her. That something was a very large monster. Momonga blinked as she looked up as the beast stopped in front of the four of them, somewhat perturbed at the him, halting her conversation about her friends.
“Oh, a dragon,” was all she said as he reared back, and the fat dragon blinked.
