Chapter 8: Knife Fight

Ninya looked at the note in her hands. A group of men had come to take her sister captive. She had taken them out, rather easily too.

Though, it was annoying for her in all honesty. The enemies hadn’t really any defense for her attacks. They were ill equipped for dealing with a magic caster that fired 4th tier magic. She had trained well under her goddess and Nabe.

Tuare sat on the couch in the meeting room, her arms wrapped around herself. She was rather scared. Rightfully so, Ninya thought. She had nearly been kidnapped.

She looked away from her sister, and looked at the letter. Ninya scowled as she read the letter. Her brow furrowed even more as she read it a second time, then a third, and a fourth.

“What is it?” Tuare asked, her arms unraveling.

“These idiots think that Sebas is some sort of fool. As if he would come to a meeting place to try and take you back after they would kidnap you. They can’t even get the number of people who live here right!” Ninya shouted, her fist raised in anger.

Tuare’s reaction wasn’t what she expected. Her lips turned up, her chest heaved slightly. A small laugh escaped her as she giggled. Tuare was laughing. Ninya hadn’t heard her laugh at Ninya’s antics for a very long time.

Her joy was infectious. Soon, the two sisters were laughing while the sounds of a fist knocking against the door was heard. Tuare stopped, and got up to go see the door. Ninya stopped her with an arm, and went to check the door herself.

“No Tuare, let me go check. It might be more of those eight fingers people,” she said as she held out her arm and stopped the girl from leaving the meeting room.

Tuare nodded her head, and began to make some tea. After all, she herself was fairly certain that it was just Sebas and Solution. Ninya was fairly certain of that as well; she herself simply wanted to make sure.

As soon as she finished making the tea, the hot water having been boiled rather quickly by a magic item in the room, Sebas and Solution came into the room. She smiled at the two of them as they entered the room. Sebas greeted her with a smile and a hello. Solution herself seemed rather tired, but she greeted her all the same with a hello as well.

“Hello Tuare. I believe that Ninya mentioned a note and some trespassers?” Sebas said as he walked into the room and picked up the note that Ninya had laid on the table.

“Greetings, Tuare, trespassers you say?” Solution said and sat on the couch by the table.

Tuare nodded her head, and Ninya walked into the room just as she started her explanation. Ninya smiled as the girl didn’t flinch or cower when she told the story. She was already rather brave, when compared to when she had first came here. Tuare, meanwhile, simply told the story.

“Three people broke into the house. The shadow demons told us. Ninya prepped some spells, and made sure that they came into this room. When they came in here, she shot a, “Chain Lightning,” spell at them. They died instantly because she had some power boosting items on her person. We then moved the bodies to the bathtub and burned them,” she explained.

“Did you check them for any loot or items that may tell us who they were. Other than this note, I see nothing here to indicate as such,” Solution said, and Tuare nodded her head.

“Yes, they really only had some infiltration tools on themselves. They all had three daggers, but we put those the draw because we didn’t want to drop them anywhere and accidently hurt ourselves,” she said, her tone quivering a bit as what had happened was starting to claw its way in her mind.

Sebas moved to stand next to her as she started to realize finally what danger she had been in. He moved her to the couch, and she was at down. The tea that she had brewed was handed to her by Solution as she poured a cup for everyone.

“What do you think we should do now Sebas?” Ninya asked the head butler, and he put a hand to his chin.

Tuare didn’t really think they had to worry. Sure, the eight fingers were scary, but they had a goddess on their side! She also said that she would protect them. Surely, they would be fine, right?

“I think,” Sebas said after some deliberation, “that we should most definitely alert Lady Momonga first. Then, we should prepare a team to destroy this threat. After all, their foolishness may get in the way of Lady Momonga’s plans,” he said, his tone clear.

“I agree,” Ninya said, “They have tried and failed to tarnish the name of Goddess Momonga. They should be punished for their idiocy.”

Solution nodded her head as the everyone looked at her. She was the one with the message scrolls, so she was the one to open the message channel. She sighed as she grabbed the scroll from her form, and used it.

Lady Momonga, we have anemergency,” Momonga heard her message spell go off.

It was Solution. She didn’t know what the slime wanted, but she would have to listen. In truth, Momonga was tired. While she had the best sleep that she had had in a while, she was still groggy from the night.

“Yes Solution, what is it?” she asked, her words tired.

“Some assassins have tried and failed to kidnap and blackmail us. Ninya took care of them, so we need not worry about that. Though we have their address from a note that they were planning to leave behind,” Solution said over the message, the contents of waking her up all the way.

“We were planning on going and sneaking in at night to slay them all in recompence for what they were planning to do,” Solution said, “My lady, what should do? While that is our plan yes, it isn’t really thought out at all. What should we do?” she asked, and Momonga nodded her head as she walked down the hallway of the inn.

She thought for a minute. Her mind was plodding a plan along. She was busy, busy with pushing one of Demiurge’s plans along. Maybe they could fit together? After all, Demiurge needed to make an entrance as Jaldabaoth.

“Talk to Demiurge. He has a plan that he’s working on. Try and make a plan with him,” she said, and she felt Solution nod on her end.

“Of course, my lady,” she said, and cut off the line.

Momonga walked down the hallway of the inn as Calvaria. She shook her head in exasperation. Those kids couldn’t be trusted to be alone and not get into trouble for a second, couldn’t they?
