Chapter 33: Washing the Transforming Spider-Man Suit
I let out a slow breath and fully opened my eyes.
That confession… felt like something that came at the wrong time. Too late. Or maybe it was never meant to go any further from the very beginning.
But of course… that was only a story from another world. A version already neatly written, with a fixed plot where every relationship and conflict moved exactly as it was supposed to.
Here, things weren’t guaranteed to unfold the same way. It was even possible that those relationships would never happen at all, as if the line of fate itself had already diverged beyond comparison.
After finishing my shower, I exhaled slowly, a long breath, as if trying to cast away the lingering thoughts that had been spinning aimlessly in my head.
A faint layer of steam still hung in the air, while droplets of water slid down from my hair, falling one by one onto the floor and producing soft, barely audible sounds. The lingering chill of the water clung faintly to my skin, but my mind gradually began to feel lighter.
There was no point in getting lost in that kind of speculation right now. The more I thought about it, the more exhausting it became, as if I were forcing myself to solve something that might not even be true.
Without delaying any longer, I reached for my Transforming Spider-Man Suit, which I had placed near the bathroom door.
The fabric still felt slightly damp with sweat, cool to the touch, and lightly clung to the tips of my fingers. Its elastic texture was familiar, yet it still carried a faint sense of discomfort from its previous use.
Even though it didn’t smell that bad, I didn’t want to take even the slightest risk. A small oversight could easily turn into discomfort later when wearing it again—and that was the last thing I wanted.
I placed it into the washing machine and pressed the button without hesitation.
The machine began to hum softly, followed by the sound of water gradually filling its interior. The suit started to spin, moving repeatedly in a steady rhythm, creating a monotonous sound that was strangely calming.
It was as if that rotation pulled away the remnants of today’s chaos, replacing them with something more stable, more orderly.
Besides, tomorrow was still a holiday—Sunday.
Logically, I should have used that time to go back into action as Spider-Man: to search for more missions, solve more problems, and of course earn more rewards from the Spider-Man System I possessed.
That was the most reasonable choice—the most productive, and clearly the most beneficial in the long run.
And yet, for some reason, I decided not to leave the house tomorrow.
The decision felt simple, but also somewhat strange when I thought about it more deeply. Normally, I wouldn’t just let an opportunity like that pass. But this time… it felt different.
That was why I was washing my Transforming Spider-Man Suit now.
I could have easily done it tomorrow morning without any issue. Nothing was truly urgent. But it felt far more comfortable knowing everything was ready in advance, without needing to rush or be bothered by small things that could have been handled earlier.
No lingering sweat, no sticky discomfort. Everything clean, neat, and ready to be used at any time without a second thought.
After all, I really didn’t intend to leave the house tomorrow.
That was the main reason.
Simple… but enough.
I stood there for a moment, watching the washing machine continue its slow rotation. The reflection of light on its surface moved along with it, creating small, shifting shadows around it.
The steady hum filled the quiet room, stable and repetitive—like the perfect backdrop for my mind, which was finally beginning to calm after being filled with so many uncertain possibilities.
Thinking about it again… maybe it really does make more sense for me to stay home and use that time for something else.
Something more… important.
Not just running around aimlessly without a clear direction, but actually taking the time to think through my next steps more carefully. Reorganizing everything before I move again.
After all, there are quite a lot of things I need to do.
Things I can’t keep putting off.
Especially after everything that happened today—something that clearly isn’t the kind of thing I can just ignore as if it never happened.
I need to start training the new skill I just obtained—the reward from the mission to kill Killgrave.
That skill is definitely not something I can master instantly just by reading its description, as if understanding could simply appear the moment I know its name and function.
There’s a significant gap between knowing and truly understanding, and right now, I’m still at the very beginning stage.
It feels like holding a weapon that’s completely unfamiliar in my hands—I know it’s dangerous, I know it can be incredibly useful, but I don’t yet know how to control it properly without making mistakes that could turn fatal.
I need to figure out how to actually use this skill. Not just activating it and being done with it, but understanding its flow, its rhythm, its limits, and how it responds to different situations around me—whether in calm conditions or when the pressure rises and everything turns chaotic.
I have to repeat it over and over, test it under various conditions, try one possibility after another, even make small mistakes within safe limits, until the skill no longer feels foreign… until it becomes something I can use naturally, without overthinking—like breathing, something that just happens on its own.
Besides that, there’s also my Spider-Sense.
Up until now, I still haven’t been able to use it at all. There are no signs of it activating, no faint warnings appearing in my mind, not even the slightest hint of intuition.
It’s as if that ability truly exists, but is tightly locked inside me, waiting for something I still don’t understand to unlock it.
Even though it’s supposed to be one of the most important abilities—something that could give me an advantage even before danger actually arrives and touches me directly.
If I can increase my body’s sensitivity to the surrounding environment, maybe the Spider-Sense will start to respond, even if only slightly.
Becoming more aware of sounds that are almost inaudible, small movements that are nearly invisible, subtle changes in the air, even faint vibrations that most people would ignore… anything that can train my instincts to become sharper and more responsive.
If that works, then my chances of surviving in dangerous situations will increase drastically—far higher than relying solely on normal reactions that often come a fraction of a second too late.
I can’t always rely on luck. Reflexes alone aren’t enough to deal with threats that come without warning. I need something sharper. Faster. More… instinctive—something that works even before I consciously realize the danger itself.
Then, there’s one more thing. Enhanced Immunity.
I crossed my arms over my chest, my brows slightly furrowed as I tried to think through the various possibilities in my head. This skill feels different from the others.
Unlike physical abilities that can be tested immediately through simple training, its effects are more hidden, deeper, and far more difficult to measure directly using conventional methods.
But if I understand its basic concept, then there might be one approach I can try—carefully, and with thorough consideration.
