Chapter 43: Song Yurong’s Reunion with Su Ming
Song Yurong immediately felt heartache seeing Su Ming chained to the wall, suffering. Song Yurong quickly slashed open the iron bars that were locking her away and cut the chains, setting her free.
Su Ming’s unconscious body then started to fall toward the floor but was caught by Song Yurong. Wanting to know what had happened, Song Yurong tried to wake Su Ming up, but no matter what she did, Su Ming just did not wake up.
Wondering what she should do next, Jiang Yun then appeared beside her. Song Yurong was instantly startled by the sudden appearance of Jiang Yun. The initial surprise faded as Jiang Yun then handed her a few pills.
Jiang Yun then explained, "These are healing pills that I have heavily diluted. These pills should be able to help a mortal like her recover, but make sure she takes them one at a time, as the effects are still very strong."
Song Yurong then took the pills and fed one to Su Ming. Soon after feeding the pill, Su Ming’s injuries healed at a visible rate and the heaviest injuries became bearable. Her eyes then started to flutter as she was waking up from her injuries.
Su Ming then saw a figure in front of her and wondered who it was, as it didn’t look like Chu Meng, who was the only one who came down here to see her. As her eyes fully opened, she then saw Song Yurong and was surprised to see her here.
Su Ming then asked, "Miss, what are you doing here? Weren’t you running away from the Han family young master? How did you end up in the prison of Chu Meng?"
Song Yurong then explained what had happened, as she had already killed Chu Meng. Song Yurong then asked, "What happened to you? Why are you in such a horrible state, so close to dying?"
Su Ming replied, "After you escaped and I was taken to the Red Sun sect, Chu Meng brought me to his room. That man liked to torment women until they obeyed before touching them, as it brought him amusement. I was one of the toughest people he ever tried to break, which caused me to become his favorite. As nothing he did worked when trying to break me, he decided to just leave me here to be starved until I gave in."
Song Yurong then thought how she had let Chu Meng die too easily for all he did to Su Ming. The only thing Song Yurong was grateful for, as Su Ming had explained, was that she hadn’t been defiled yet, which was very important to her as a woman.
After letting Su Ming rest for a while and heal from her injuries, Song Yurong asked, "Since I have destroyed the Han family, I am now free. I want to take you with me to learn to cultivate in the future to repay you for the kindness you've shown me over the years. Please come with me."
Su Ming was shocked that she was allowed to learn to cultivate, so after a moment of processing, she agreed. She then said, "Let me get some of my belongings first, as I wasn’t allowed to take them when I was forced by Chu Meng to come here. I don’t know if they still have my possessions, but there is something important that I left behind that I’m sure is still there."
Song Yurong then asked, "What is so important that you still need to go back to get it?"
Su Ming replied emotionally, "It is a picture of my mother. She was also a maid in the Song family household but died before I became your personal maid. She was my only family, and I don’t have any other mementos of her other than her picture. That picture was drawn by a street artist while my mom was still alive, and it is the most lifelike image I have left of her."
Observing how important the image was to her, Song Yurong decided it was worth taking a trip to the Song family to take the photo before going back to the sect.
Song Yurong then replied, "Don’t worry, going back to get it won’t be a problem. We’ll just go back quickly to get it before setting off to go cultivate."
Su Ming, hearing the positive reply, said gratefully, "Thank you, miss."
Song Yurong then waited a few hours for Su Ming's injuries to completely heal. Once Su Ming's injuries were completely gone, the three then set off toward the Song family.
Back at the Song family, the guards had searched frantically for Song Yurong to no avail. She had already left and the guards had searched every corner for her but couldn’t find her. After not being able to find Song Yurong anywhere, they went back to report to the head of the Song family.
Next to the head of the Song family stood a middle-aged woman who was very angry as she shouted at the head of the household, "Song Chen, look at the good daughter you raised! She has injured our sons to this sorry state where their bodies are covered in burned flesh! What do you expect us to do about our rebellious daughter?"
Song Chen then replied to his wife, "Don’t worry, I already sent the guards to look for her. I will punish her heavily once the guards capture her. Even though she may be a cultivator now, it doesn't mean our family has no cultivators ourselves. Those cultivators we hired should be able to capture her easily."
The guards then came back to report, "Master, we could not find the young miss. It's as if she disappeared, as we have searched every corner of the territory."
Song Chen then spoke, "You useless bunch, if you can’t find her in the territory, then look outside. We must capture her today and punish her for harming her brothers."
Soon, another guard came rushing in, reporting, "We have found where the young miss has gone. Accompanying her are a man and a woman. These three people are heading to the servant quarters, and we are unsure of their purpose."
Song Chen then yelled, "Go over right now and capture all of them. We can’t let them escape today. Go and call over the cultivators who are in the territory right now and make sure that my daughter is captured without errors."
The guards quickly left to do their assigned tasks, as the head of the family was furious.
Song Chen then muttered to himself, "You dare rebel even against your own father? Just wait to see what I do with you."
At the servant’s residence, Song Yurong followed behind Su Ming as she headed toward her room. Upon arriving, nothing had changed, as her room was in such an inconspicuous place that it could be easily forgotten in this vast territory.
Su Ming quickly entered and headed toward a secret compartment where she hid the photo of her mother. As she opened the compartment, she was relieved to see the photo was still there. Su Ming then quickly packed up all her things, preparing to leave.
Song Yurong then stopped her, saying, "I have a storage ring, so don’t worry about packing. I’ll just take everything here, so you don’t have to worry about leaving anything."
Song Yurong then started stuffing her ring with everything in the room. After sorting through many things, the room was now barren with absolutely nothing left.
Su Ming then was amazed by the convenience of being a cultivator. So many things were so easily stored and can be easily transported with just a ring. The group of three then prepared to leave this place that held so many unpleasant memories for Song Yurong.
Suddenly, sounds could be heard from the hall as a group of people were heading toward them. Not long after hearing the commotion, a group of guards arrived, surrounding the three of them.
The head guard stepped forward and ordered, "Young miss, come with us quietly, as the head of the family has requested your surrender. Do so without resistance and we can resolve this peacefully. Otherwise, we will use force."
After the guard finished speaking, a group of low-level Qi Refining realm cultivators stepped forward, trying to show off their pressure to scare Song Yurong.
Song Yurong, hearing these threats, was unimpressed. She then took Su Ming’s hand and started to walk out of the encirclement quietly, as she felt like this farce wasn’t worth her time.
The guard, seeing Song Yurong wasn’t complying, then sent the order, "Since you don’t want to do things the easy way, then let's do it the hard way."
The Qi Refining cultivators then stepped forward, intending to capture Song Yurong. These cultivators thought that even if Song Yurong was a cultivator, her realm shouldn’t be that high considering her age being so young and that she was a mortal not too long ago.
As the cultivators got close, Song Yurong became impatient as she directly summoned large fireballs that shot directly toward her aggressors. As the fireballs hit the cultivators, it instantly caused an explosion that didn’t allow them to react before they turned to ash. The remaining guards froze in place, horrified by the sight in front of them.
Song Yurong then asked, "Anyone else want to try and stop me from leaving?"
