After Achieving Invincibility, I Set Out to Destroy Sects

Chapter 40: Song Yurong Faces the Land God Sect Alone

As her voice echoed throughout the sect, movement could be seen instantly as many cultivators flew toward Song Yurong with their swords under their feet. Leading the group was a slightly old, middle-aged man who could fly without the assistance of a sword.

As the group approached, they soon arrived in front of Song Yurong. The leader of the group asked, "I am Mo Feng the Sect Master of the Land God Sect. I would like to ask you, as a fellow Golden Core cultivator, what could have possibly happened between you and my sect to cause such strong enmity that you would want to destroy us?"

Song Yurong replied, "One of your sect’s elders tried to kill me after I sought justice from one of my enemies. He then threatened me, saying that his sect would avenge him if I killed him. Now that I’m here, I will deal with you all and save you from the trouble of looking for me."

Mo Feng was confused and asked, "Just who are you talking about? I don’t remember anyone from my sect being so audacious as to offend a fellow Golden Core cultivator like yourself."

Song Yurong then replied, "I never asked for the man’s name, but he was at the fourth level of Foundation Establishment and was very confident when he tried to attack me. He looked quite old and had completely white hair."

Mo Feng thought about who could fit such a description. He then remembered that his brother had gone out recently and found a new disciple, matching exactly what this woman was saying.

Mo Feng then yelled, "You killed my brother? I treated you as an equal because we are both in the Golden Core realm, but don’t think that just because I wanted to avoid trouble, I am weak! For daring to kill my brother, I won’t let you leave here alive. You must die by my hands today!"

The group of cultivators, along with Mo Feng, drew their weapons as they knew the person in front of them was a Golden Core realm expert as she could fly without assistance of a flying sword. This meant that the woman in front of them was very strong and required their full attention. Right after drawing their weapons, they charged toward Song Yurong to avenge the Sect Master’s brother.

Song Yurong countered by unleashing the spells she had learned from Jiang Yun toward the incoming group. In an instant, the air was filled with a chaotic mix of wind blades, ice shards, blazing fireballs, crackling thunder, and various other projectiles.

Faced with so many objects flying toward them, all the cultivators scrambled to block or dodge. While most managed to deflect the onslaught, some of the weaker cultivators were quickly overwhelmed, struck down by the barrage of projectiles, and died shortly after.

After firing off the magical projectiles for a while, Song Yurong stopped. This level of attack had already wiped out the weaker opponents, but it would have a hard time killing the stronger ones. The remaining survivors consisted of only a few late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivators and the Sect Master himself.

Looking around, Mo Feng realized many of his sect elders had died in the opening volley. Infuriated by the destruction of such a large portion of his sect's fighting force, he surged toward Song Yurong even faster to prevent further casualties. The remaining Foundation Establishment cultivators were still in a daze from the devastating attack.

As Mo Feng closed the distance, Song Yurong used her Law of Time to slow him down just slightly. She used those precious moments to summon a massive fireball the size of a person and hurled it directly at him.

Because Mo Feng was still being slowed by the Law of Time, he could only conjure a hasty, rudimentary defense before the fireball struck. Just as he barely managed to block the flame, a succession of more large spells came crashing toward him.

Before long, Mo Feng began to feel immense pressure from the continuous barrage of high-level spells. The relentless assault made him wonder just how much spiritual energy this woman in front of him actually possessed.

During this time, the cultivators who had been dazed by the previous bombardment finally snapped out of it. They flew forward in a desperate bid to assist their Sect Master. As they drew near, Song Yurong redirected a portion of her attacks toward them as well.

With her offensive focus now split, the pressure on Mo Feng was instantly alleviated, and he seized the opportunity to escape the center of the spell barrage. However, the moment he slipped away, all of the attacks that had been tracking him redirected onto his remaining sect elders.

Within seconds, he watched the last of his elders perish under the exact same horrific onslaught he had just barely survived. Seeing all his elders die and fall from the sky made Mo Feng realize that the enemy they were facing was far too strong for his sect to handle.

Engaging this woman had driven them into an utterly hopeless situation. The sect he had spent so much time and effort developing had fallen before they could achieve greatness. Mo Feng could only lament his profound misfortune at offending such a murderous woman.

Now that the main force of his sect was dead and he had no one left to assist him, Mo Feng considered fleeing, since there was nothing left to protect here anyway. Just as Mo Feng prepared to make his escape, Song Yurong relentlessly pursued her attack. This only made him feel more frustrated and desperate.

Still straining under the weight of her heavy-hitting spells, Mo Feng shouted in grievance, "I am willing to leave and let you destroy my sect, just let me go! If you don’t, I will risk everything to fight you to the death! Let me go, and we can still bring a peaceful end to this fight!"

Song Yurong heard Mo Feng's desperate plea but chose to ignore it entirely. Holding a total advantage, there was no logical point in listening to him or halting her momentum. Observing her silence, Mo Feng realized Song Yurong had no intention of stopping.

He became furious, unable to comprehend why this woman would push things to such a brutal extreme. Driven to a corner, Mo Feng resolved to use his ultimate survival cards. He swallowed a hidden pill and retrieved a string of prayer beads from his neck, which was his most prized offensive treasure.

Under the influence of the potent pill, his cultivation level temporarily surged to the fourth level of the Golden Core realm. He then injected his Qi into the magical treasure, summoning a towering, transparent glowing figure behind him that successfully blocked Song Yurong’s ongoing spells.

Controlling the manifestation, Mo Feng commanded the glowing figure to make an offensive gesture, throwing a massive punch directly toward Song Yurong.

Seeing that her standard spells were now proving ineffective, Song Yurong decided to use a much more powerful spell to shatter the transparent glowing barrier protecting Mo Feng. Channeling as much energy as her body could output, she summoned a fireball several times larger than any before.

It burned so intensely that its scorching heat could be felt from a great distance. Summoning whatever energy she could still muster, she launched the massive sphere of fire at an extreme speed toward Mo Feng.

The colossal fireball and Mo Feng collided, triggering a massive explosion. As the smoke slowly parted, a battered figure was revealed within the clearing air.

It was Mo Feng, heavily injured and bleeding profusely, with most of his body charred black from the extreme heat. The precious bead necklace he had been holding was almost completely incinerated by the flames, rendered entirely useless.

In this ruined state, Mo Feng was on the verge of passing out from his injuries, but he fought to stay awake, knowing that falling unconscious meant certain death. As Mo Feng struggled to maintain consciousness, Song Yurong immediately took advantage of his helpless condition.

With her remaining Qi heavily depleted, Song Yurong could no longer execute high-level spells. Instead, she called upon her flying sword to deliver the final strike. Mo Feng was far too exhausted and severely injured to even perceive the incoming weapon; he could only float helplessly in place.

With a clean sweep of her sword, Song Yurong severed Mo Feng's head, instantly ending the life of the Golden Core cultivator.

Even though she was thoroughly exhausted after concluding the grueling battle, Song Yurong wanted to finish the job and completely uproot the Land God Sect to prevent any future trouble. Consuming a few recovery pills she had kept from her breakthrough training, she successfully replenished a portion of her spent Qi and flew down into the sect grounds.

Once inside the Land God Sect, eliminating the remaining disciples was a simple matter for a Golden Core cultivator. She was facing a disorganized crowd of low-level Qi Refining disciples; despite her weakened state, the task was entirely effortless.

After eliminating the last of the disciples to ensure no future vengeance, she thoroughly looted the sect's vault, taking everything of value for potential future use. Her tasks finally finished, she flew back up into the sky to regroup with Jiang Yun.

Not long after flying in the direction Jiang Yun had departed, he suddenly materialized directly in front of her. The instantaneous appearance caught Song Yurong completely by surprise.

Jiang Yun praised her, saying, "You have done a good job, and you will be rewarded."

He then pulled a storage ring from his robes and continued, "Inside this ring are various cultivation resources and high-grade offensive treasures. I am giving them to you now so that you will have more hidden cards to play in your future battles."

Song Yurong received the storage ring with immense gratitude. Sliding it onto her finger, she felt a wave of happiness upon sensing the valuable items contained within.

Jiang Yun then asked, "Since you have concluded your business here, will you follow me back to the sect now, or do you still have other matters to resolve first?"

Song Yurong replied, "I would like to visit my family one last time before we depart for your sect, as I still have some unresolved business there. It shouldn’t take very long, so please allow me to go."

Jiang Yun nodded in approval, wanting Song Yurong to completely clear her mind of past ties before fully committing to the sect. Seeing that Jiang Yun had agreed to her request, Song Yurong turned and flew in the direction of her family's territory.

Jiang Yun followed closely behind her, intending to remain a silent observer as she handled her final personal affairs.

The two then quickly sped off into the distance to resolve Song Yurong’s worry.
