After Achieving Invincibility, I Set Out to Destroy Sects

Chapter 39: Song Yurong Breaks Through to Golden Core

The remaining people in the Han family immediately panicked, hearing Song Yurong turn her attention toward them. The elders of the Han family started to beg for their lives, hoping to gain some sympathy.

Song Yurong, not wanting to listen to their pathetic begging, killed them all.

The only people remaining in the room now were the head of the Han family, Han Chen, and Han Zhiheng. As for everyone else, they met an untimely death by Song Yurong’s hands.

The head of the Han family had been quiet this entire time. As a proud man himself, he refused to bend down and beg for mercy. Because he knew he couldn’t escape this situation, he had already accepted his fate and was waiting for death.

Song Yurong then asked, "Do you have any final words before I send you on your way along with your sons?"

The head of the Han family replied with no emotion, "Just hurry and get it over with. My life is in your hands anyway."

With a swift swing of her sword, Song Yurong ended the life of the root cause of all her troubles.

She then turned back, intending to do the same to the two brothers who were still restrained in the back.

The two, also realizing their fate, didn’t even bother to beg anymore, as they knew anything they said would be useless. It was better to accept it early rather than die in such a pathetic manner.

Seeing both of them ready for death, Song Yurong wasted no time and dealt the finishing blows. She was satisfied by how she had broken the two of them to the point where they no longer even cared about their own lives and were willing to die.

As she finished off the last few people of the Han family outside the hall, she went back to Jiang Yun’s side, wanting to know how well she had done today and hoping to hear some praise.

Jiang Yun, who had observed all of Song Yurong’s efforts, felt that her first real battle as a cultivator was satisfactory. She had fought an opponent near her level and had even managed to gain some advantage, though she ultimately couldn't end it herself. The result still wasn’t considered bad.

Now that Song Yurong was back and had an expectant face, Jiang Yun thought it wouldn’t hurt to compliment her. He said, "You did well today and have a bright future ahead of you."

Song Yurong, not being praised as much as she wanted, felt somewhat upset but decided not to dwell on it.

She then asked, "Now that I’m finished, will you teach me some combat moves so I actually have ways to fight?"

Jiang Yun felt that he indeed owed her a lesson, as he had promised. He then taught Song Yurong one of the most basic moves he could think of: the Fireball spell. This type of attack was simple and efficient, as it could also be used to clean up bodies.

After an initial explanation and a live demonstration, Jiang Yun asked Song Yurong to give it a try. Much to Jiang Yun’s surprise, Song Yurong got it on her first try and created a massive fireball the size of a boulder.

This made Jiang Yun realize that Song Yurong had a natural talent for Qi-based attacks, and he decided to try teaching her more spells. Jiang Yun then explained how to create wind blades, freezing attacks, shooting thunder, and many other spells. Each time, Song Yurong learned them on the first try and produced exceptional results.

Jiang Yun could only describe such a person as a genius.

After teaching Song Yurong so many spells, he wanted to try teaching her physical attacks as well. After demonstrating a simple swordsmanship technique, Jiang Yun expected Song Yurong to learn it instantly.

Unfortunately, her talents did not carry over to physical techniques. After trying several other martial movements to no avail, Jiang Yun gave up and went back to Qi attacks.

The progress on her Qi attacks was astonishing, however, as Song Yurong continued to learn them at a rapid pace. Jiang Yun realized that with this kind of talent, she didn't even need to use weapons to fight; she could just use spells to win.

After training Song Yurong’s spells to a decent level, Jiang Yun said, "We will cultivate here for a while, as I intend to have you reach the Golden Core realm and fight against the Land God Sect. I will give you a month. If you can’t do it within that time, I will destroy the Land God sect personally, take you back to the sect, and then I won’t let you out until you cultivate to the Mahayana realm."

Song Yurong, not wanting to be trapped indoors spending an unknown amount of time in seclusion, replied with determination, "I will reach the Golden Core realm in a month, so don’t worry about my progress. I will for sure accomplish the task."

Noticing her enthusiasm, Jiang Yun gave her several pills for cultivation, as her body was strong enough to contain these potent medicines filled with spiritual energy. These pills had no real side effects compared to power-enhancing pills that temporarily burned one's potential. These pills were solely meant to increase her spiritual energy for a breakthrough.

Song Yurong took the pills, understanding that the ones given were specifically for cultivation. She then began cultivating, taking another pill whenever she felt the spiritual energy from the previous one running low.

This allowed Song Yurong to enter an immersive state where she was completely focused on cultivating, paying attention to nothing else.

Jiang Yun also decided to help by setting up a spirit-gathering array, which, at his current level of array formation, could easily be used even by a Nascent Soul cultivator. Under these conditions, Song Yurong progressed incredibly fast in the month that followed.

Once the one-month deadline was almost up, Song Yurong successfully broke through to the Golden Core realm. She then woke up from her cultivation, feeling new changes in her body that were much different from when she was in the Foundation Building realm.

She asked, "Is this how Golden Cores feel? I feel like I will never run out of energy now that I have a golden core inside me."

Jiang Yun replied, "This is only natural. After all, Golden Cores are much stronger than Foundation Establishment cultivators. Now that you are at the Golden Core realm, you should get used to your new powers, so give them a try."

Song Yurong wanted to test her new power even without Jiang Yun’s suggestion. She then channeled her energy and slowly started to float up from the ground. She became incredibly excited, as she no longer needed to rely on a flying sword to hover. Now, she could move as she pleased without having to stay balanced on a sword.

While in the air, Song Yurong tried to fly as fast as she could, moving several times faster than when she was still on a flying sword. She then tried to cast her magical spells while flying, such as her Fireball spell, wanting to see if she could fight and fly at the same time.

Song Yurong enjoyed every moment of her newfound freedom as she soared through the sky. After a long period of flying around, she finally calmed down and flew back to Jiang Yun, now fully adjusted to her Golden Core realm power.

Now that she was finished with her experiments, Jiang Yun assigned her a task.

He ordered Song Yurong, "We will now go to the Land God Sect to eliminate future trouble. You will be fighting alone without my aid, as you should have enough power to deal with them now. If you happen to fail, I will intervene and save you, but I will punish you with more secluded cultivation if such a situation occurs."

Not wanting such a situation to happen, Song Yurong wanted to make sure, no matter what, that she wouldn’t need Jiang Yun’s help. She muttered some encouraging words to herself before replying, "I am ready. Let's go."

Having heard her confirmation, Jiang Yun grabbed her shoulder. They then disappeared from the Han family’s territory which had been used for secluded cultivation. After disappearing they reappeared outside a relatively unassuming sect. This was due to the sect being quite small when compared to other sects seen in the Eastern Region.

This sect wasn’t particularly special, nor did it have many people in it, but it was still a sect for cultivators nonetheless. Song Yurong, seeing that her enemy's headquarters wasn't as intimidating as she had originally imagined, felt significantly more confident.

Jiang Yun then backed away, hiding in the distance to observe Song Yurong’s battle against the Land God Sect, knowing that being too close could affect her battle performance.

As Jiang Yun backed away, Song Yurong knew she was truly going to face an entire sect by herself. Once Jiang Yun had completely disappeared into the distance—yet remained close enough to keep an eye on her—it was time for her to get started.

Song Yurong projected her voice with her spiritual energy, sending it echoing across the territory so it could be heard from a distance.

"I am Song Yurong, and I have come here to destroy your sect today, as one of your elders has offended me! Come out here and face me, as today marks the destruction of your sect and the last day you will ever see!"
