Chapter 35: Han Family Forces Arrive to Capture Song Yurong
As Jiang Yun was lost in thought, someone from the young man’s group stepped forward. It was likely a villager who had witnessed the death of Han Fei, now pointing an accusing finger to win the young master's favor.
"These two are the ones who killed your brother, Young Master," he said. "They didn’t even take your family name seriously, even after being threatened."
The young man glared at Jiang Yun and Song Yurong with a face full of undisguised anger.
In reality, he didn't actually care about his deceased sibling. He thought to himself, I couldn't care less about that trash brother of mine, but the two of you killing him forced me to take a trip to this godforsaken, barren place. I won’t let either of you off easily.
The young man addressed Jiang Yun and Song Yurong in a commanding tone. "I am the second son of the Han family, Han Chen, and I am here to take both of you back to the family for punishment. Come quietly and we won’t make things hard for you; otherwise, you will suffer much more than you can possibly imagine."
Jiang Yun simply stood there in silence. He was far too lazy to bother with people so completely beneath him.
Instead, he turned to Song Yurong and gestured for her to handle the situation. Since these people were much closer to her level of power, they would serve as a proper match for her to practice on.
Seeing Jiang Yun delegate, the fight to her, Song Yurong felt a surge of excitement. She desperately wanted to test out her new Foundation Establishment power in a real battle, especially since she had never been in an actual fight before.
She stepped forward defiantly, "You aren’t worthy of taking us anywhere. Come and try it, if you dare."
Being openly humiliated by a woman he considered completely beneath him, someone who was supposed to be nothing more than a disposable marriage tool from a weaker family, caused Han Chen to fly into a furious rage.
He immediately gave orders to his men. "Bring that woman here and make her suffer while you're at it! Don’t let her off easily; it doesn't matter what happens, as long as we bring her back alive. As for the man, just kill him."
Upon hearing their master’s command, the guards stepped forward. They intended to capture the woman to teach her a lesson, and to kill the man next to her.
Having recently entered the world of cultivation and had the lower realm cultivation levels explained to her by Jiang Yun, Song Yurong now understood the division of power.
Back when she lived with her wealthy family, she had heard whispers of the Body Building realm, but she had never been able to distinguish between the different stages or tell which level a person had attained.
Looking at the guards approaching her, she could easily tell they had entered the Body Building realm, with their strengths varying from the first to the fifth level.
Meanwhile, the hired cultivators staying back near the carriage were merely at the low levels of the Qi Refining realm, ranging from the first to the third level. It was a strange feeling for her to realize that none of the people standing before her were her match anymore.
When the guards charged forward to attack, Song Yurong did not back down. Instead, she took a calm step forward to intercept them.
The guards were surprised to see her advance rather than run away in fear, but their hesitation lasted only a second. As soon as they were within arm's reach, they reached out with their hands to grab her, believing that a normal woman could do nothing to resist the physical strength of the Body Building realm.
To their utter shock, their hands never found their mark. With a gentle, effortless hand motion, Song Yurong pushed them back.
The force of her strike sent them landing right beside their young master, Han Chen. They got up quickly, their faces burning with embarrassment at being shoved aside so easily by a young woman.
Han Chen’s face darkened, and he shouted angrily, "My family has poured so many resources into training you guards, and this is the result? We gave you the resources to become Body Building experts, yet you lose this embarrassingly to a single woman! If you don't bring her down right now, do not expect a lenient punishment when we return to the estate."
Knowing his threat was far from empty, the guards quickly rushed at Song Yurong once more. This time, they used their weapons directly to end the confrontation quickly.
The outcome, however, was no different. Song Yurong did not feel inclined to show them leniency a second time. She used her fist to deal a blow to each of them.
Each guard she punched was sent flying through the air straight past Han Chen before slamming heavily into the walls of the surrounding buildings. They then collapsed, bleeding heavily, before falling unconscious.
Looking at his unconscious guards, Han Chen finally realized that Song Yurong was no longer the defenseless girl who had fled her home. He assumed she must have somehow trained and entered the Body Building realm herself, and he knew ordinary guards would not be enough.
He turned back toward the carriage to look at his hired help. "Since I pay you men so handsomely, go and capture that woman," Han Chen ordered the cultivators. "I do not care if she gets injured or broken in the process, just bring her to me."
Hearing that it was finally their turn to earn their pay, the Qi Refining cultivators stepped forward, their expressions relaxed and confident.
They knew Song Yurong came from an ordinary mortal family, meaning she could not possibly be an actual cultivator. To them, a cultivator dealing with a mere Body Building realm practitioner who possessed no spiritual energy was an incredibly simple task.
The cultivators arriving in front of Song Yurong then stretched out their hands and used their Qi to try to immobilize and capture the woman in front of them. As their hands approached, Song Yurong punched the closest cultivator present, who was at the third level of Qi Refining, and sent him flying back like the guards before, heavily injuring the man and making him fall unconscious.
The other cultivators present, who were weaker than the man who was so easily defeated, stopped their hands from getting closer. They realized the woman in front of them was not a weak Body Building practitioner, but a genuine cultivator. This woman definitely had a higher realm than them, considering what they had just witnessed from the previous attack.
These Qi Refining cultivators froze in place, not knowing what to do as they realized they couldn’t defeat this woman. She had just used one attack to turn a third-level Qi Refiner into a bloody mess that was now unconscious. The result with the rest of them would probably be the same.
As these cultivators were contemplating what to do, Song Yurong interrupted them, saying sarcastically, "Why aren’t you continuing your attack on the weak woman that I am? Continue, I’m right here for the taking."
Being taunted right in front of them fueled their anger, but the lingering feeling from watching their companion instantly defeated kept them from acting on impulse.
Han Chen, from the back, seeing the situation turn for the worse, was looking for a chance to escape. Seeing the cultivators still standing in her way, he took the chance to try to get back into the carriage to drive off.
Song Yurong, not wanting to give Han Chen a chance to escape, attacked the remaining cultivators and knocked them unconscious with a heavy punch, which served as a lesson for ganging up on her.
At this time, Han Chen had already gotten into the carriage and had started the horses to drive off. Not wanting Han Chen to go any further, Song Yurong took out her flying sword to give chase. Boarding the flying sword, she then streaked through the air, reaching Han Chen in minimal time.
Han Chen, seeing Song Yurong catching up and that she was directly behind him, knew that he couldn’t get away like this, so he got directly on the horse and cut off the carriage, hoping to have the carriage block her way.
As the carriage suddenly slowed down, Song Yurong saw it directly in front of her and punched it into pieces. Seeing that Han Chen wasn’t inside but was riding a horse not far away, she continued the chase.
This time, without the carriage slowing down the horse, the chase took a little longer, but ultimately Song Yurong caught up. Once she was right next to Han Chen, she raised her hand intending to knock him out for later use.
Han Chen, seeing Song Yurong next to him, knew there was nothing left he could do, so he shut his eyes as Song Yurong’s hand came down and prepared for the worst. With a swift hit, Han Chen fell unconscious and fell off the horse. The horse then sped away without Han Chen on its back.
Song Yurong grabbed Han Chen by his clothes and started flying back to Jiang Yun.
