Chapter 75: Ch 75: Love At Night
After settling things on Earth, Neo decided to return to Olympus. The transition from the harsh, polluted reality of the Detroit camp to the ethereal, magical realm was always jarring, but tonight, it felt like a profound blessing.
After the login sequence completed, he arrived at the familiar setting of Naida’s Apothecary Shop. The ambient noise of the bustling celestial city had died down, replaced by a serene, comforting quiet that immediately began to soothe his frayed nerves.
The shop was closed, since it was past evening. The heavy oak door was locked, and the magical glowing sign in the window had been dimmed to a soft, resting amber.
The interior of the storefront smelled heavily of dried lavender, crushed mint leaves, and the lingering, sweet aroma of medicinal honey. It was a scent that Raidan associated purely with safety.
He moved silently through the rows of glass vials and wooden shelves, pushing aside the thick velvet curtain that separated the shop from the private living quarters in the back.
After entering, he saw Naida. She was standing by the magical hearth, wearing a simple white apron tied securely over a flowing emerald dress, deeply focused on cooking dinner.
From the back, the snug fit of the apron strings pulled the fabric tight against her figure, making her elegant curves and beautiful assets become very prominent. Her silver hair was swept up into a messy, delicate bun to keep it away from the cooking flames.
This style completely exposed her nape. Her neck was graceful and slender like a swan, glowing warmly in the firelight and instantly igniting his deep desire to press his lips against her flawless skin.
Going sneakily from behind, utilizing the silent footsteps his high agility stats provided, he crossed the stone floor without making a single sound. He abruptly hugged her soft waist, wrapping his strong arms securely around her middle, startling her.
Naida gasped sharply, her entire body going completely rigid in his grasp. For a terrifying, fleeting second, she was genuinely scared, thinking a creepy pervert or a dangerous thief had somehow broken through her protective wards.
But then, she took a breath. Upon smelling his unique scent, a comforting mixture of ozone, ancient pine, and the faint metallic tang of a distant storm, her tense expression completely softened.
All the fear drained out of her muscles, replaced by a rush of liquid warmth. She leaned her back flush against his broad chest, melting into his solid embrace.
"Raidan, you have returned," she said over her shoulder, her voice dropping to a tender whisper as she felt his hot breath ghosting across the sensitive shell of her ears.
"Yes, my love," Raidan murmured softly, burying his face into the crook of her neck. He placed a slow, lingering kiss on the soft skin just below her earlobe, feeling her shiver delightfully in his arms. "I was missing you so much, so I came. I wish to enjoy the entire night with you."
Naida let out a soft, musical laugh that made Raidan’s chest flutter. She reached out and turned off the magical heat beneath the iron skillet with a simple flick of her wrist, completely abandoning her cooking for the moment.
She turned around within his embrace, bringing her bright amethyst eyes up to meet his gaze. Her eyes were filled with an absolute, overwhelming ocean of affection. She reached up, cupping his face with her delicate hands, her thumbs gently tracing the sharp contours of his cheekbones.
"You always work yourself too hard on the other side," Naida said softly, her gaze searching his eyes for the hidden exhaustion he always tried to bury away. "I can see the heavy weight of two entirely different worlds resting upon your shoulders. You look so tired, my champion."
Raidan closed his eyes and leaned heavily into her warm touch, relishing the absolute peace she brought him. Earth was a waking nightmare of blood, politics, deception, and constant warfare. He had to be a god, a monster, and a leader all at once. But Olympus was his true sanctuary, and Naida was the very center of it. Here, he did not have to be Master Verde. He just had to be Raidan.
"Being right here with you is the only rest I will ever need," Raidan replied sincerely. He leaned down and captured her lips in a deep, passionate kiss. It was not a rushed or frantic collision.
It was a slow, deliberate exploration that communicated all the intense longing he had felt during his absence.
Naida kissed him back with equal fervor, her hands sliding from his cheeks to wrap securely around his neck. She pulled him closer, eliminating any remaining space between them.
When they finally parted to catch their breath, both of them were flushed, their foreheads resting gently against one another.
"Dinner is nearly finished," Naida whispered, a rosy, beautiful blush coloring her cheeks. "Will you sit with me while we eat? We can talk about everything that has happened."
Raidan nodded, reluctantly loosening his grip on her waist just enough so she could move to plate the warm food. They sat together at a small, rustic wooden table nestled snugly in the corner of the warm kitchen. The meal was simple but incredibly delicious, consisting of roasted root vegetables, fresh celestial bread, and a savory broth infused with restorative herbs from her shop.
Raidan ate quietly, but his eyes never left Naida. He watched the way the firelight danced across her silver hair, making it shimmer like spun moonlight.
He watched the way she smiled when he complimented her cooking, and he admired the graceful, elegant movements of her hands as she spoke. Every single detail about her felt utterly perfect to him. He reached across the small table, taking her free hand in his and weaving their fingers together.
He rubbed his thumb in soothing circles over her knuckles, grounding himself in the reality of her presence.
"Leave the dishes," Raidan insisted when they had finally finished the last bite of their meal. He stood up and pulled her gently from her chair, bringing her back into his arms. "The rest of this night is meant exclusively for us, not for menial chores."
Naida smiled shyly, a spark of anticipation lighting up her amethyst eyes. She allowed him to guide her out of the kitchen and toward the bathing chambers located at the back of the apothecary.
The room was a luxurious sanctuary in itself, featuring a massive bath carved directly from smooth white marble, enchanted with runic arrays to keep the water perfectly heated at all times.
Raidan snapped his fingers, utilizing a minor water spell to fill the massive tub with crystal clear water. Naida walked over to a wooden shelf and gathered a handful of crushed rose petals and calming lavender bath salts, sprinkling them gently into the steaming water.
The fragrant, heavy steam filled the air of the chamber, carrying the sweet, intoxicating scent of jasmine and lotus flowers.
They undressed slowly in the quiet room, the flickering candlelight casting long, romantic shadows across the stone walls. Raidan stepped into the hot water first, letting out a deep groan of absolute relief as the magical heat seeped directly into his tired, aching muscles.
Naida followed closely behind him, sliding gracefully into the water and settling directly between his legs. She leaned her back against his chest, sighing contentedly as he wrapped his arms around her slick, warm waist and pulled her tightly against him.
Raidan picked up a soft sea sponge from the edge of the tub and began washing her shoulders, tracing the elegant, fragile lines of her collarbone with gentle, reverent strokes.
"Your touch is like a profound magic of its own," Naida murmured lazily, tilting her head back to rest comfortably on his shoulder. "It washes away every single worry I have in this world."
Raidan leaned forward and kissed her wet shoulder, his hands moving lower to massage the tension from her waist and hips.
"I could say the exact same thing about you," he whispered, pressing another kiss to her swan like neck. "When I am on Earth, dealing with military warlords and void monsters, the thought of coming back to this exact moment is what keeps me fighting. You are my anchor, Naida. Without you, I think the power would completely consume me."
Naida turned her head slightly, capturing his lips in a sweet, lingering kiss that tasted like steam and lotus flowers. They spent over an hour in the bath, completely ignoring the passing of time outside their sanctuary.
They exchanged quiet stories, shared countless soft kisses, and simply enjoyed the profound intimacy of being completely alone together without the weight of the world pressing down upon them.
When the water finally began to cool, Raidan stood up and stepped out of the marble tub. He grabbed a massive, fluffy towel from the heated rack and wrapped Naida in it the moment she stepped out.
He dried her off with the utmost care, treating her like the most precious treasure in the universe, before lifting her effortlessly into his arms and carrying her into the adjoining bedroom.
The bed was a massive four poster frame draped in translucent silk curtains that swayed gently in the ambient magic of the room.
Raidan laid her down gently onto the soft, downy mattress. The moonlight filtering through the bedroom window painted her skin in a silvery, ethereal glow. She looked like a true celestial goddess, and Raidan felt incredibly lucky to be the mortal who was allowed to worship her.
He discarded his own towel and joined her beneath the heavy, woven quilts. The contrast of the cool sheets and the intense, burning heat of their bodies created an intoxicating sensation that made Raidan’s breath hitch.
Naida turned on her side to face him, tracing the muscular lines of his chest with a delicate fingernail, her soft touch sending electric shivers cascading down his spine.
Raidan caught her wandering hand and brought it to his lips, kissing her knuckles while his gaze locked intensely with hers.
"I am entirely yours," Raidan vowed softly, reaching out with his free hand to brush a stray lock of damp silver hair behind her ear. "In this world, on Earth, and in every other reality that might exist. My heart belongs only to you."
Naida smiled, a look of pure, unadulterated love shining brilliantly in her amethyst eyes.
"And I am completely yours, my love," she replied, her voice trembling with emotion.
She reached up and pulled him down by the back of his neck, initiating a kiss that quickly shifted from tender affection to deep, desperate passion.
The outside world faded away completely, leaving them utterly isolated in their own universe of sensation. There were no system notifications, no faction wars, and no impending threats knocking at their gates.
There was only the warmth of the bedroom, the hypnotic scent of jasmine, the soft tangle of silk sheets, and the endless, beautiful night stretching out endlessly before them.
