Chapter 889: Little Sun
Yan Wanning knew that she was being too hard on Bai Meiyue, but this was the only way. If her daughter did not take hold of herself, there was a good chance that she might end up putting herself in danger.
"I am so glad that you are my mother."
Bai Meiyue gritted her teeth and took a deep breath. With her hair drenched, she endured the hellish degree of labour pain, which was similar to having twenty of her bones broken, and started to climb the stairs. There was no way out for her. This was all she could do.
While she was trying her best to give birth to her child, Lu Yin and Master Ning were planning how to invade the safe base. However, with the ability users fighting back, they realised that it was not as easy as they thought. But their morale was boosted by the fact that the ever-powerful Bai Meiyue never appeared in front of them; even when the human-faced spiders got too close to the safe base, she never made an appearance.
Master Ning told Lu Yin that even though the ability users were unwilling to fall back, as long as they captured Bai Meiyue and her child, they would be able to control these ability users with ease. Who asked them to have such an obvious weak spot? What was more, Bai Meiyue was not willing to step out, which meant that she could not deal with the trouble at the moment. Since that was the case, they could always deal with Bai Meiyue and capture her.
Even if Lu Yin’s spies were controlled by Xiao Wu, Lu Yin was smart enough to know that something was wrong with Bai Meiyue. Who would have thought that she would be so lucky as to arrive on the very same day when Bai Meiyue was out of action? But since she had finally got the opportunity to bring Bai Meiyue down, she wasn’t going to let it go so easily.
"Continue." Even though Dacheng had warned Lu Yin again and again that she shouldn’t poke a finger in the lion’s eye, she continued to behave defiantly. She was almost certain that she would be able to win this time around. Bai Meiyue was out of action, and there was nothing she could do at the moment; then there was Lei Qian, who was unconscious.
Without the two of them taking care of the safe base, it would be an easy feat to take control of the safe base.
Master Ning’s eyes flashed with satisfaction. At least one of them was easier to control than the other one. He immediately nodded before ordering the rest of the ability users to attack the safe base.
These ability users moved along with the human-faced spiders and attacked the safe base defences. In their hearts, they still believed that they were doing right. Their leaders had told them that as long as they worked hard, they would be able to win this war without any worries.
ROAR!
Bai Meiyue raised her head and looked toward the source of the sound. She was halfway up the stairs when she noticed the battle that was going on outside and sucked in a breath. LU YIN! It was that woman again.
She understood what was going on and immediately cursed her luck. This was a dangerous situation. Even if she wanted to, she could not do anything to help the teams that were fighting for the safe base.
"Don’t watch. You cannot help them." Shen Zhen knew that there was nothing that Bai Meiyue could do— after all, the current situation was simply out of her control.
"But..." When she heard the terrified screams of the residents of the safe base, she could not help but frown hard. Was she really going to ignore the cries of these people?
As if reading her mind, Shen Zhen nodded at her. "Yes, even if you don’t want to, you have no other choice but to ignore them. At the moment, you cannot help even yourself; how can you help them?"
And as much as Bai Meiyue hated to admit that it was the truth, she had to admit that it was indeed the case. She closed her eyes and ruthlessly turned her gaze away, even though she wanted to rush into battle and kill that woman!
Just when Lu Yin and Master Ning were planning to cherish this opportunity that was handed to them, and were thinking of killing Bai Meiyue with their own hands, suddenly the safe base was lit up. The light was so bright that it illuminated the entire safe base even at night. It was as if daybreak was finally happening, but the three red moons in the sky proved that it was still night.
Everyone who was inside or outside the safe base raised their heads and looked into the sky, only to see a few red, orangish beams rising slowly and stretching into the sky. At first, they were just flickering beams, but then they combined together, and suddenly a ball of energy appeared in the safe base that flashed pure white. The light was so bright that even the ability users had to close their eyes and hide in a safe spot.
And it was a good idea as well, because a second later, the little sphere of light grew bigger and bigger and then exploded, and the energy that it released—it was so aggressive that no one was able to control it. The human-faced spiders were burnt to ashes as this energy spread all around the safe base.
Lu Yin, who was about to make a move, stopped at once. She looked at the situation in front of her and frowned hard. "What is going on?"
On the watchtower, Xiao Wu jumped up in fright; he turned around and looked at the little sun that was shining brighter and brighter. He turned to look at one of the underlings and cried, "What is going on?"
He had hardly finished speaking when there was a loud boom behind them.
