"By the way, Ms. Rwar. May I ask what kind of flowers Lily adores the most?"
I asked with a pleasant smile while activating my Eye of Usurper on her at the same time. I was curious what kind of abilities this pink slime actually had.
She didn’t really share them much in my previous life but the variety of things she could do had always amazed me back then as well. More than that, I was curious if I could copy Talents from spirits too.
The description of the ability hadn’t mentioned any such limitations but one could never be too cautious, right?
Immediately in response, a blue holographic screen appeared before me, showing her details.
"Why don’t you ask her yourself?"
Meanwhile, Rwar replied coldly but my attention was already focused on her status window.

But before I could look through it, the whole thing started glitching all of a sudden and my Eye of Usurper deactivated on its own.

What’s happening?
My mind suddenly started feeling incredibly lightheaded, and I could feel something liquid dripping past my nose.
My blood...?
My eyes suddenly went blurry, but before I could fall completely unconscious, something warm tapped against my head, and all the lightheadedness vanished in an instant.
I looked up, only to see Rwar’s slimy arm extended towards my forehead, glowing with golden energy.
"What were you doing?"
Her cold voice was completely at odds with the warm energy healing me.
But I was surprised by something else.
She felt me trying to check her status window.
How was that possible?
As if answering my thoughts, a status window suddenly appeared in front of me.

Looking at the note of Eye of Usurper, I understood one thing...
I had been too damn careless.
After learning how the Eye of Usurper was connected to Records, I had started treating it as invincible, trying to see through the status windows of everyone...
...but in the end, its power came from the unity of my soul, mind and body.
And although my mind and soul were strong, the vessel carrying them was barely anything.
So, it made sense for it to have limitations.
I shrugged those thoughts away and looked at Rwar with a small smile.
"I am sorry about that, Ms. Rwar. I truly didn’t mean to do it, but it seems that due to my lingering injuries, my Talent might have activated on its own."
It was a shitty excuse but I didn’t have any other way to explain why I had tried to peer through her soul. Though, I was sure she herself didn’t know what I had done. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have reacted so mildly.
And more importantly, with how much she cared about Lily, I doubted she would do anything drastic.
"You are lucky that Lily had asked me to heal you. If someone else had tried to do whatever you were trying, they wouldn’t have been breathing to give such excuses."
She continued in the same tone.
"There are things in this world you must see and there are things you must never even dare to do. I don’t know what you were doing but if I hadn’t interfered, the sudden pressure coming from your mind and soul would have crushed your pitifully weak vessel."
I didn’t say anything and simply nodded.
But at least, her words confirmed my own theories.
The awkward silence returned once again as Rwar continued healing me. Only after a few more minutes had passed did I look at her again, and ask the same question as before.
"By the way, you still haven’t answered which flowers Lily likes the most."
Rwar looked at me, her eyes rolling dramatically.
"You truly are shameless, aren’t you?"
"I just wanna know everything about her, that’s it." I answered without missing a beat.
"I will answer your questions about her, but in exchange, you answer my questions." Rwar narrowed her eyes at me. "Though do know that I can sense the deceit in your words through your soul."
Like hell you could.
She had used the same trick every time in my last life too but in reality she was simply good at reading faces.
"That’s fine with me, as long as you don’t ask something I cannot answer."
I nodded without hesitation.
A smile appeared on the pink slime’s face as she asked her first question.
"Who are you really?"
"What do you mean, Ms. Rwar? I am Zenith Ruinbringer." I answered immediately.
She narrowed her eyes.
"You seem to know too much about spirits for a mortal. Not to mention, you always seemed to notice me within Lily’s shadow. Then there was also the fact that you knew ways to undo the manifestation and how you woke Lily up as well."
"I know those things because I read a lot. Manifestation is not much of a secret, is it? Even Princess Seles knew about it."
I let out a smile.
"You are indeed right about the first part, but... how exactly did you know that Lily was being used as a medium? And your knowledge also doesn’t explain how you knew how to undo such manifestations, because in these continents, that knowledge shouldn’t be available yet."
She continued in the same suspicious tone before I could say anything.
"And suppose that also came from your ’knowledge.’ More importantly, how exactly did you know where to find her through that complicated body of Octina’s?"
Damn, she really isn’t letting me off easy, is she?
But if I thought about it, everything was indeed suspicious.
Knowing about manifestation was one thing but knowing that humans could be used as mediums was relatively rare knowledge. And even among that, knowing the structure of Octina’s manifested body was a different problem altogether.
And somehow, I had done all of that and found Lily.
In a way, it was suspicious no matter how someone looked at it.
So, I simply widened my smile and gave the only answer I could.
"It was all due to the power of love and friendship."
And as soon as I said those words, Rwar’s face twisted immediately.
