I knew what was going on.
After my brother told me everything, we sat down and discussed it all.
There was no way Ragnar had feelings for her. The only explanation I could think of was that he felt bad for her.
She used to look so vulnerable when she was fat, so I was pretty sure she was using that vulnerability in front of him.
He was just trying to do the right thing because, knowing Ragnar, he hated seeing men abuse women, and Verity was taking advantage of that.
Besides, Verity was not his type.
She was clumsy.
In fact, in office, she would either drop things, trip or set things on fire.
Knowing Ragnar, he didn’t like such women.
I was his type.
Calm, decent and very sober, who knew how to act and not run around making stupid mistakes.
So, there was no way Ragnar would ever even like someone like her.
I convinced my brother that there was nothing going on between them.
However, with Theodore and Jaguar, I started another round of being ’poor me’.
I no longer wanted Verity’s help.
Jaguar and Theodore would do everything they could to find out who Ragnar’s mate was, and they would deal with it.
As for Verity, I didn’t have to tell her she was off the spy mission.
I would use that to only make her look bad in front of Ragnar.
Instead, I would make her do things that would get her caught and questioned by Ragnar.
At the same time, Theodore and Jaguar would become convinced that she was sleeping with their brother.
No matter how much Jaguar and Theodore liked someone, if they found out that woman was characterless, coming between Ragnar and me, or causing me pain, they would cut her out of their lives.
Fine, I’d seen the way Theodore had walked out of the kitchen after being with Verity.
I didn’t even want to think about what might have happened in there because I wasn’t that stupid.
She was giving both brothers that look.
Before anything could even start between them, I’d already planted the seed of suspicion.
As for Ragnar and Verity, Verity was using Ragnar to punish my brother because she hated my brother.
Well, she was not going to get away with that.
My brother had already made his own plan. Very soon, he would sacrifice Verity’s purity to that same river.
Because I couldn’t wait.
I needed Jaguar in my grasp now.
Things had already started with Theodore.
"Ugh, my head hurts," I said, rubbing my temples.
"Who told you to drink so much?" Rochelle complained, still on her phone.
"Why are you here again?" I asked.
I hadn’t even confronted her yet about the shitty stunt she’d pulled with Jenna.
"Look, I need your help," she added, making me roll my eyes and drop my hands.
"I’ve already helped you, and you already caused me trouble," I said, reminding her of the last time I’d tried to help her with her ex-boyfriend.
"It’s not about that asshole," she said. "It’s about my little sister. She needs admission somewhere. Can you please use your status and your boyfriend’s rank to help get her admitted?"
Rochelle pouted, making me roll my eyes and shake my head.
"Ragnar is very against that. If it were that easy, Jenna wouldn’t have had to study so hard for the test," I mumbled, excusing myself as I reached for the glass of lemonade.
She immediately grabbed it before I could and handed it to me.
"Okay, thank you," I said suspiciously, taking it from her and sipping from it.
"Please, just look. This is her previous school record and everything. She’s a bright kid. It’s just that, you know, she turned eighteen, and when a girl turns eighteen, she’s immediately expected to find a mate. She hasn’t found one. She doesn’t want to date anyone or anything, and my mom has planned a mate ball for her in a few weeks. Her test is around the same time, so she doesn’t know whether she should prepare for the mate ball or the test."
While Rochelle rambled, I tilted my head and slowly lowered the glass from my mouth.
"She’s a virgin?" I asked.
I didn’t know why that had left my lips.
But Rochelle puckered her lips and nodded.
"Yeah, can you believe that? My sister is still a virgin?" she scoffed, rolling her eyes and shaking her head.
I kept watching her face before I smiled.
"Yeah, she needs a mate," I said. "You know what, honey? Why don’t you bring her here? I’ll help her with the test myself. In the meantime, I’ll meet her and let her meet Alpha King Ragnar. I’ll convince him to get her admitted to the best college possible."
I watched Rochelle’s eyes widen.
Her sister, Diana, was only nineteen, and she was incredibly good-looking.
My brother would love her.
Perfect.
"When can I send her here?" she asked, clasping her hands together excitedly.
"I’ll ask Alpha King Ragnar when he can, like, spend the night here with me. Then I’ll convince him to meet her. And, you know, if she stays with me for a while, it’ll be better for her because I go to parties and meetings with Ragnar, and there are Alphas there. So, you know, she could get lucky," I said.
Rochelle nodded happily.
Little did she know, I’d chosen her sister to be the blessed one who would sacrifice her purity for me.
And then I would get her admitted wherever she wanted.
I’d get her a mate too.
"Perfect, then I’ll let you know," Rochelle said, leaving her report cards behind for me before walking out of my room.
That had been so easy.
I mean, if my brother couldn’t do it with Verity, then Rochelle’s sister was already next in line.
Or maybe I could do it for her too.
Maybe I could spark whatever was missing between me and Ragnar again.
For the first time in a while, I finally felt relaxed.
However, there were still things going wrong for me.
I needed to get into that mansion and live with the brothers now more than ever, especially after I received a text from Theodore.
Theodore: Listen, I need to speak with you, he wrote.
I bit my bottom lip and replied.
Me: Theodore, I don’t want to talk about anything. What happened last night, Just forget about it, okay? You’re very dear to me. I don’t want to lose you. Please don’t burden yourself with guilt, okay?
I hit send, and he replied with four shocked emojis.
