Chapter 325: What’s Wrong, Leader?
Aoki remembered in vivid detail how Konan had been captured, and then Hanzo had forced Yahiko and Nagato to kill each other in exchange for Konan's life. The image flashed through Aoki's mind again, making his chest feel heavy.
But now, with Aoki's advice, Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan had chosen a completely different path. They stopped messing with Hanzo, and instead, the Akatsuki group, led by Yahiko, had begun raising fish.
It was a simple move, but one that had the potential to change fate—trying to achieve peace for Amegakure Village through trade, not war.
Aoki didn't know for sure what would happen next. There was no guarantee that everything would go smoothly, or that the future he knew would be completely erased. But one thing was clear—that future might have changed, and this time, it was born of Aoki's own, overt actions.
Indeed, Aoki had already changed some major aspects of the world's trajectory. Starting with Sakumo's death, which Aoki managed to prevent, Akarin, who should have been pregnant but now finds herself in a different situation, Rin, who should have died but is still alive, and Ajisai, whom Aoki took out of Amegakure.
In Aoki's view, all of these were predictable changes. He had a general idea of the consequences and knew how to prepare for the next step.
However, the changes that occurred in Akatsuki—who now decided to farm fish—were completely unexpected. Indeed, Aoki himself had made this suggestion to the organization's higher-ups.
But a suggestion… was still just a suggestion. Aoki never truly expected them to accept and implement it, especially in such a short time. And now, seeing them do so, filled Aoki with a mixture of surprise, relief, and wariness.
Now, Aoki didn't know what would happen next for Akatsuki and Amegakure. The vision of the future he knew was fading, replaced by new possibilities he couldn't have predicted.
One thing Aoki knew—in the original plot he remembered, Obito would turn dark, or rather, sink into darkness. He would become completely evil, ultimately trying to manipulate Nagato to gather the Bijuu, the tailed beasts that were the core of this world's power.
But now, with the changes already underway, Aoki wondered: how would Obito manipulate Nagato? Would the path remain the same, or would it change completely? There was no definitive answer.
Aoki took a deep breath, a heaviness pressing down on his chest. His gaze seemed to stare blankly through the walls of the room, as if he were trying to find an answer within the now-dark future.
Aoki's right hand slowly lifted, touching his chin, as his mind began to spin, contemplating all the possibilities of what might happen in Naruto's world… or, as he now saw it, the world of ninjas whose futures he had personally meddled with.
Aoki then turned, his body movements calm, but his eyes immediately fixed on Kurisu. The stare lingered long enough to leave Kurisu slightly confused, so she reflexively looked back, trying to decipher the meaning behind Aoki's gaze.
"What's wrong, Chief?" Kurisu finally asked, her eyebrows slightly raised and her lips pressed into a thin line. Her face displayed genuine confusion.
"Nothing," Aoki replied with a light shake of his head, his tone then changing to a more relaxed one.
"Oh, by the way... let's eat. I haven't eaten since I got here." As he said that, Aoki rubbed his stomach gently, his expression aggravated, but his eyes revealed that he was indeed getting hungry.
"That's right," Kurisu replied seriously, taking a step forward toward him.
