The Heretic's Mana-Bound Sanctuary

Chapter 80: Tartarus Vaults

The assimilation of a divine dimension was not a quiet affair.

When the Abyssal Void-Cruiser reappeared above the ruined Zenith Spire, it did not come empty-handed. Trailing behind the corrupted crystal ship, bound in heavy, radioactive violet alchemical tethers, was the entire foundational terminal of the Silver Archives. It was a massive, floating block of hyper-dense silver geometry, humming with the agonizing weight of heaven’s root-code.

Kaelen stood on the boarding ramp as the ship hovered over his petrified throne.

"Drop it," he commanded.

Elara, hanging upside down from the ship’s outer hull by her knees, giggled maniacally and severed the tethers.

With a deafening, localized shockwave, the massive silver terminal crashed directly onto the obsidian platform of the Abyssal Court, shattering the pristine marble beneath it. The sheer density of the data caused the ambient air to visibly warp and shudder.

"Link it to the Labyrinth Core, Forge-Master," he ordered, descending the ramp.

She didn’t hesitate. She bounded down after him, her soot-stained hands already weaving complex, floating arrays of dark data. She slammed her palms against the silver terminal, forcefully bridging the gap between the celestial blueprints and Kaelen’s Black Genesis domain.

A blinding pillar of deep violet light erupted from the terminal, shooting directly into the swirling gray static of the sky.

[System Notification: Foundational Blueprints detected.]

[Initiating localized reality override. Assimilating Sphere of Judgment into ’Floor 20’.]

[Assimilation Progress: 10%... 45%... 70%...]

He walked slowly to his throne, pulling a fresh goblet of crimson wine from his spatial ring. He watched with a cold, predatory satisfaction as the system systematically devoured ten thousand years of absolute law.

At the base of the dais, High Arbiter Cassius flinched violently with every percentage gained. The chains of Void-iron binding him to the rusted desk rattled as his ruined, weeping eye sockets squeezed shut. He could physically feel his dimension being eaten alive.

[Assimilation Progress: 82%... 85%...]

[ERROR: Assimilation Stalled at 85%.]

The blinding violet pillar suddenly violently flickered, choked by a sudden, massive surge of heavy, suffocating crimson light from deep beneath the crust of the dimension.

She gasped, her alchemical arrays sparking aggressively as she was forcefully pushed back from the terminal.

"Master!" she cried out, her emerald eyes churning with frantic calculations. "The root-code is rejecting the final overwrite! There is a localized conceptual anchor buried at the absolute center of the Sphere. It is infinitely heavier than the Judiciary’s laws! It’s... it’s radiating pure, unfiltered malice!"

A low, rattling sound echoed from the base of the dais.

It was Cassius. The broken High Arbiter was laughing.

It wasn’t a sane laugh. It was a wet, hollow, broken sound that scraped against the throat. Cassius lifted his head, the black fluid leaking from his empty eyes staining his pale face.

"You thought it was over," Cassius wheezed, a hysterical, manic grin spreading across his face. "You thought you could just burn my parchment and claim the realm."

Kaelen didn’t stand up. He lazily rested his chin on his knuckles. "Explain, scribe."

"The Judiciary only writes the laws, Emperor," he whispered, his voice trembling with a primal, deeply ingrained terror that had nothing to do with Kaelen. "We govern the light. But what do you think happens to the celestial citizens who break those laws? What happens to the fallen angels who cannot be rehabilitated?"

Ariel stepped forward, her six shadow-wings stiffening. The Abyssal Valkyrie’s corrupted blue eyes widened in sudden, horrifying realization.

"The Penitence Engine," Ariel breathed.

Cassius’s manic grin widened. "You have conquered the surface, Heretic. But you have just forcefully attempted to overwrite the Heart of Judgment. You have awakened the Wardens of the Deep. You have triggered the Tartarus Protocol."

[WARNING: Hostile Sub-Dimension Detected - ’The Tartarus Vaults’.]

[Entity Type: Celestial Executioners.]

[Status: Unchained.]

The entire obsidian platform violently violently shook. It wasn’t a magical attack; it was a physical seismic event. Deep within the core of the Sphere, massive, hyper-compressed locks were manually disengaging.

"Ariel," he rumbled, his pitch-black eyes turning to his Valkyrie. "What is a Celestial Executioner?"

Ariel’s jaw tightened. "They are the dirty secret of the Third Choir, Sovereign. They are angels who have been purposely conceptually lobotomized. They have no grace. They have no mercy. They are completely immune to Truth-Wards because they do not possess the cognitive capacity to understand guilt. They only understand punishment."

"They are butchers," Cassius laughed, coughing up golden blood. "We kept them locked in the basement of reality because even the Goddess feared their absolute brutality. And now, you have given them a reason to come upstairs."

From the sunken gladiator pits far below, a sudden, deafening chorus of screams erupted.

It wasn’t the wingless Inquisitors screaming. It was the Void-iron Brutes.

Kaelen’s eyes narrowed. He tapped into the Abyssal Trinity link, looking through the fragmented, localized senses of his army.

In the center of the rusted arena, the obsidian floor had violently violently shattered outward. Erupting from the depths were towering, fifteen-foot-tall monstrosities. They had the wings of angels, but the feathers were charred black and dripping with corrosive crimson plasma. They wore heavy, seamless iron masks with no eye holes, and they wielded massive, jagged cleavers forged from solidified, coagulated sin.

They didn’t cast spells. They didn’t declare laws.

One of the Executioners swung its massive cleaver, moving with a terrifying, jerky speed that actively defied the physics of its massive frame. The blade connected with a heavily armored Void-iron Brute. The hyper-dense dark metal, designed to withstand the crushing gravity of holy magic, was effortlessly sheared in half like wet paper.

[Army Status Update: Vanguard Brute (Level 95) - Terminated.]

"They are bypassing the Apathy Cloaks," Elara reported, her voice completely devoid of its usual manic cheer. "Master, their weapons aren’t magical. They are conceptually forged from raw kinetic trauma!"

Seraphina practically vibrated at Kaelen’s side, her Exalted-Tier greatsword igniting with roaring black fire. The Eclipse Vanguard did not look afraid. She looked like she had just been handed the greatest gift in the cosmos.

"Finally," Seraphina hissed, her corrupted golden eyes dilating with pure, unadulterated bloodlust. "Real meat."

He stood up from his throne. The heavy, intoxicating gravity of his Level 105 core actively washed over the platform, instantly silencing Cassius’s manic laughter.

The Abyssal Emperor didn’t look annoyed by the delay. The slow, deeply predatory smirk that curled his lips promised absolute, world-ending violence. The Void-Cruiser would have to wait. The Sphere of Knowledge was safe for a few more days.

Because Kaelen had just found the real heart of the dimension.

"You thought you were springing a trap, Cassius?" he rumbled, his multi-tonal voice vibrating the crimson wine in his goblet before he casually tossed it aside. "You thought throwing a pack of rabid dogs at a Dungeon would save your Goddess?"

He walked down the steps of the dais, the absolute darkness of his God-Eater authority violently swirling around his fists.

"Seraphina. Ariel," the Emperor commanded, his voice echoing across the telepathic link with catastrophic intent. "Rally the elite cohorts. Leave the ship. We are going to the basement."

He looked over his shoulder at the chained, weeping Arbiter.

"Draft the eviction notices, Cassius. The Executioners are about to be permanently unemployed."
