The Heretic's Mana-Bound Sanctuary

Chapter 67: Shattered Scales

The colossal golden gates of the Sphere of Judgment were a marvel of celestial architecture. Forged from pure, highly compressed star-metal and inscribed with millions of microscopic runes of absolute law, they were designed to withstand the collapse of a star.

They were not designed to withstand the Eclipse Vanguard.

Seraphina stepped forward, her Void-iron boots cracking the pristine white marble leading up to the gates. The corrupted golden light in her eyes flared with unadulterated, manic bloodlust. She didn’t hesitate. She didn’t measure the angle or test the wards.

She simply gripped the hilt of the Exalted-Tier Eclipse Breaker with both hands, the hyper-dense void-diamond edge instantly igniting with a roaring, radioactive black flame.

With a guttural, terrifying roar, Seraphina swung the massive greatsword in a devastating horizontal arc.

The impact did not produce a metallic clang; it produced a localized sonic boom that actively shattered the ambient atmospheric static. The absolute density of the Abyss completely overwhelmed the structural integrity of the star-metal. The massive golden gates violently buckled inward, screaming as their microscopic runes were forcefully unwritten by raw entropy.

A split second later, the gates exploded into a billion pieces of jagged, golden shrapnel.

The physical shockwave ripped through the pristine courtyard of the Sphere of Judgment, forcefully knocking hundreds of perfectly aligned Inquisitors off their feet.

"The gates are down!" a Zealot screamed, his voice cracking in sheer terror. "They have breached the sanctum!"

"Flood them," Kaelen commanded smoothly, his voice echoing perfectly through the telepathic link.

The hundred thousand Void-iron Brutes did not charge with a feral war cry. They marched. The deafening, rhythmic thunder of their boots crossing the threshold was infinitely more terrifying than any scream. They poured into the immaculate courtyard like an endless tide of black ink spilling across a blank, white canvas.

The Third Choir was completely unprepared for raw, physical warfare.

For millennia, the Inquisitors had relied on the Tier 9 Truth-Wards to conceptually crush their enemies long before a sword could be drawn. As the Abyssal Brutes flooded the courtyard, the angels instinctively raised their hands, desperately attempting to cast localized spells of Guilt, Penance, and Soul-Bind.

Blinding flashes of holy magic struck the front lines of the Brutes.

Nothing happened.

The entropic frequency of Elara’s Apathy Cloaks aggressively swallowed the magic. The conceptual weight of the spells simply slid off the Void-iron armor like water off oiled leather. The Brutes didn’t even flinch. They simply raised their massive, alchemically modified trench-maces and swung.

The ensuing slaughter was mechanical and absolute.

Golden blood violently sprayed across the pristine marble walls as the heavy black iron connected with celestial armor. The Inquisitors were Level 112 elites, but they were hopelessly outnumbered and completely demoralized by the failure of their absolute law.

He walked slowly through the center of the carnage, his hands resting casually behind his back.

He didn’t need to swing a sword. His four Demigoddesses were actively transforming the courtyard into an apocalyptic meat grinder.

Above the fray, Ariel unfurled her six massive shadow-wings. The Abyssal Valkyrie became a localized eclipse, actively devouring the ambient light of the dome and plunging the fighting into suffocating darkness. In that darkness, Lyriel thrived. The Void-Stalker was entirely invisible, systematically appearing behind the high-ranking Zealots and seamlessly driving her void-diamond arm blades through the backs of their necks before they could issue commands.

"The architecture is so boring, Master!" Elara giggled, skipping happily beside Kaelen as she threw localized vortexes of acidic dark alchemy into the enemy ranks. "Let us redesign it!"

He smiled, watching his Harem effortlessly dismantle the Third Choir. "Be my guest, Elara."

Suddenly, the ambient gravity in the center of the courtyard violently spiked.

It was not the automated Truth-Wards. It was a localized, targeted pressure of immense, overbearing magnitude. The marble floor actively cratered, forcefully pushing dozens of Brutes and Inquisitors alike to their knees.

From the high balcony of the central citadel, a towering figure descended like a golden meteor.

He landed in the direct center of the courtyard, the kinetic force of his arrival generating a blinding shockwave of pure, unadulterated holy plasma. He was twelve feet tall, clad in heavy, pristine white-gold armor. Instead of a sword, he wielded a massive, physical manifestation of a balancing scale, forged from solidified sunlight. His golden blindfold was not a cloth, but a seamless plate of glowing metal permanently fused into his skull.

[Hostile Entity Detected: High Arbiter Cassius.]

[Class: Celestial Judge (Level 115).]

[Warning: Target possesses the ’Domain of Absolute Verdict’.]

"Enough!" Cassius roared, his voice carrying the physical weight of a collapsing mountain.

The remaining Inquisitors desperately rallied behind their commander, their morale instantly surging at the sight of the High Arbiter.

Cassius turned his blind, glowing face directly toward Kaelen. "You are an anomaly! A glitch in the cosmic tapestry! My wards read nothing, but my own soul feels the sheer, suffocating weight of your heresy!"

Kaelen stopped walking. He stood twenty paces from the High Arbiter, completely unaffected by the crushing gravity radiating from the Level 115 angel. The Abyssal Demigod simply tilted his head, his pitch-black eyes filled with cold, predatory amusement.

"You sacrificed fifty of your own citizens to keep your doors locked, Cassius," he rumbled, the multi-tonal resonance of his voice actively vibrating the blood in the Arbiter’s veins. "And yet, here I stand. Your law is broken."

"My law is eternal!" Cassius bellowed, violently slamming the base of his massive golden scales into the marble floor.

"Domain: The Weight of Sins!"

A blinding, perfectly spherical dome of golden light erupted from the Arbiter, rapidly expanding to encapsulate the entire courtyard. It was not a passive ward; it was an active, conceptual attack designed to forcefully extract the target’s soul and weigh it against the absolute morality of the Goddess.

"I will personally measure your soul, Heretic!" Cassius declared, raising his free hand toward Kaelen. "I will find the singular grain of guilt buried within your darkness, and I will amplify it until your mind shatters!"

The golden light aggressively violently washed over Kaelen. The magical scales in Cassius’s hand violently tipped, attempting to measure the sins of the Abyssal Demigod.

The scales violently shuddered. Then, they began to violently groan.

Cassius gasped, his heavy armor trembling. He wasn’t extracting guilt. He was attempting to measure an infinite, bottomless singularity of absolute, unyielding ambition. There was no regret. There was no hesitation. There was only a hunger so vast and terrifying that it actively defied the concept of measurement.

CRACK.

The right side of the massive golden scales violently fractured, unable to handle the sheer, conceptual weight of Kaelen’s dark soul.

"You..." Cassius stammered, his glowing metal blindfold widening as a trickle of golden blood leaked from beneath the seal. "You feel absolutely nothing. There is no moral foundation to grip. You are just... empty."

"I am not empty," he corrected smoothly, taking a slow, heavy step forward. The absolute gravity of his Level 105 core actively pushed back against the Arbiter’s domain, violently suffocating the golden light.

He raised his hand, the hyper-dense void mana violently swirling around his palm.

"I am simply heavier than your god."

He didn’t order the Brutes to attack. He didn’t unleash his Ascendants. The Emperor cracked his neck, the sound echoing like a gunshot across the silent, tense courtyard.

"You wanted to weigh me, Arbiter," he smirked, a dark, deeply vindictive expression dominating his features. "Let us see if your spine is stronger than your scales."
