Rejected By Her Family, Claimed By The Masked CEO

Chapter 82: Dream car

Abigail stood quietly inside HMD Technology Company’s research and development center. Her eyes were fixed on the smart toy cars being assembled before her. Even after seeing them several times, she still found the process fascinating.

The large machines moved smoothly as they worked on different parts of the children’s cars. Some robotic arms carefully installed the wheels while others placed the tiny smart sensors inside the car’s body. Engineers in white lab coats stood nearby checking the screens before them and discussing improvements.

Unlike ordinary toy cars sold in the market, these ones were designed to be smarter and safer. They could avoid obstacles, stop automatically when necessary, and even respond to simple voice commands made by children. There were also plans to add educational features in the future.

For Abigail, this project was slowly bringing her dream to life.

When she first started designing children’s toy cars, she only wanted to create something beautiful for children. She never imagined that one day she would be working together with one of the biggest technology companies in the world.

A smile slowly appeared on her face.

Perhaps this cooperation wasn’t bad after all.

Miranda smiled as she watched her happily looking around the large hall. "Someone looks very happy today."

Abigail chuckled softly. "Of course! This is my design we’re talking about."

Miranda laughed before shaking her head helplessly.

Just as Abigail was about to reply, her eyes unconsciously landed on a familiar figure standing not too far away from them.

Henry was currently discussing something with several engineers. One of his hands was tucked inside his pocket while the other held a tablet. His expression remained cold as usual as he occasionally gave instructions after checking the reports before him.

He was dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit that made him look elegant and untouchable at the same time. The people around him couldn’t help becoming nervous whenever he frowned slightly.

He wasn’t smiling. Then again, when had she ever seen Henry smile freely?

Her smile slowly disappeared as countless questions filled her mind once again.

Why had he approached her as Michael?

Why had he hidden his identity from her?

Who exactly was he hiding from?

She still remembered what Archie had told her yesterday.

"He hid his identity because of Madam Perry."

The more she thought about it, the more confused she became.

What exactly was Madam Perry’s relationship with the Michelson family?

And why hadn’t she heard from her all this while?

Even her phone wasn’t reachable anymore.

Thinking about Madeline’s words concerning Henry’s father made her frown deepen slightly.

Perhaps she should simply ask Henry directly later.

There was no point guessing anymore.

Just as she was about to walk toward him, she paused slightly.

An elegant young woman had suddenly walked over and smiled sweetly at Henry while handing him some documents.

Henry simply nodded indifferently before lowering his eyes back to the tablet in his hands.

The woman continued smiling while talking to him.

For some strange reason, Abigail suddenly hated that smile.

Her expression immediately froze.

Hated?

What was wrong with her? It would have been much better if she had never discovered that Michael was Henry.

At least she wouldn’t have been feeling this strange.

She couldn’t even explain what was happening to her lately.

Miranda followed her gaze before looking back at Abigail.

After watching her expression for several seconds, she couldn’t help laughing softly.

Without saying anything, she gently held Abigail’s hand. "You are in love, girl."

Abigail immediately looked at her as if she had heard something ridiculous. "Ahhh.... What?"

Miranda chuckled. "You heard me."

"No, I’m not."

"You are, my dear! stop denying it"

"No." Abigail folded her arms immediately and shook her head seriously.

Miranda laughed helplessly. "Then why are you staring at him like that?"

"I wasn’t staring at him!"

"You’ve been staring at him for almost five minutes."

"..." Abigail immediately looked away awkwardly. "That’s because he’s discussing my project."

"And??" Miranda chuckled.

"And that woman suddenly appeared beside him."

"And??""

"She’s smiling strangely."

Miranda smiled knowingly before patting her shoulders. "Girl, that’s called jealousy."

Abigail immediately shook her head in denial. "I’m not jealous!"

Miranda laughed louder this time. "Ahhh.... Sure."

Abigail rolled her eyes helplessly before pretending to look elsewhere.

Love?

That was impossible. She wasn’t someone who would fall in love so easily.

At least, that was what she wanted to believe.

Seeing Abigail stubbornly refusing to admit it reminded Miranda of herself.

The smile on her face slowly disappeared.

She had once promised herself that she would stop loving Oliver.

She had confessed her feelings and accepted his rejection calmly.

Everything should have ended there. Unfortunately, feelings weren’t something that could disappear overnight.

Sometimes, she hated herself for it.

Especially during the quiet hours of the night when she would unconsciously pick up her phone and stare at his pictures and videos on social media.

She could still remember smiling foolishly whenever she saw him attending interviews or charity events.

There were even times when she secretly watched the same video several times before sleeping.

How embarrassing!

She lowered her eyes slightly as bitterness filled her heart once again.

Perhaps she wasn’t good enough for him after all.

Oliver was handsome, powerful, and adopted by one of the wealthiest families in the world.

He deserved someone equally outstanding. Someone who could stand proudly beside him.

Tears slowly filled her eyes as she thought about it. For the first time, she realized that the biggest problem wasn’t Oliver rejecting her.

It was the fact that no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t stop loving him.

Abigail immediately noticed the sadness in her expression and gently held her hand. "You promised not to cry anymore."

Miranda forced a smile. "Yeah.... I’m trying."

Abigail sighed helplessly before pulling her into a hug. "You are more than enough, Miranda."

Miranda smiled bitterly. "You know that’s not true."

"No." Abigail shook her head immediately. "It is true."

She smiled softly before continuing. "If Oliver doesn’t love you, that’s his loss. It doesn’t make you less amazing."

Miranda laughed softly. "When did you become so good at comforting people?"

Abigail raised her chin proudly. "I’ve always been good at it."

"Except when you’re comforting yourself." She giggled.

"..." Abigail was stunned.

Miranda immediately laughed after seeing her speechless expression.

Perhaps that was why they became friends. One was stubborn in love while the other was busy denying she had already fallen into it. Neither of them was doing any better than the other.
