Chapter 50: What’s wrong with you?
Archie stopped immediately and looked aside in confusion.
Miranda chuckled. "You shouldn’t have gone abroad. Whoever or whatever sent you there successfully gave this person a chance..."
Archie’s eyes narrowed and he looked above his shoulder. "What are you talking about?"
Miranda lifted her chin. "Someone else claimed her."
Archie froze. He paused for a while. "What?" He was still waiting for her to say she was kidding.
Miranda nodded. "Someone much more powerful, Ahhh" she laughed. " So, you don’t even know. You are too late, Archie." She smirked. "She has been claimed."
Archie turned around in confusion and walked toward her with his long legs. In no time, he was in front of her. He looked down at her. "What nonsense are you spouting? Are you saying this because I want you to snap out of wanting someone who can never be yours?"
Miranda looked up at him and chuckled. "I should be saying that to you. You are the closest to her and yet you lost her to someone else. Why don’t you ask her where she is living right now?"
Archie froze. Why didn’t she tell him? He didn’t think he would be able to accept this.
"You are wondering why she didn’t tell you? You are just like another headache to her. So, we have a lot in common," Miranda said. Then she left.
Archie clenched his fists and went back to his car. He drove straight to Abigail’s company and barged into her office. He met Abigail pacing back and forth, trying to connect to Miranda. She was so surprised to see him after he had already dropped her off.
"Are you okay?" Archie asked.
Abigail stopped pacing and looked at him with wide eyes. "Archie? What are you doing here? I thought you left already."
Archie looked at her hand. There was no ring. He moved so close to her that Abigail could not help but take a step back until her back reached the wall. "What?" she asked in confusion.
Archie placed one hand beside her and chuckled. "I want to drive you home. Call me when you are done, okay?"
Abigail was very surprised and looked at him in disbelief. "But you are always busy, Archie. You are the heir of Lane...."
He sighed and stood straight, putting his hands in his pockets. "You know I don’t care about that. You are the only person I care about the most. You understand me the most, Abigail." Then he bent to her ear. "You also know my weaknesses."
Abigail did not want to cry, or else it would make her feel guilty forever. Archie was more like a brother to her, and he should know everything. But this marriage was unexpected. "Don’t worry about..."
"Who’s he?" Archie sighed anyway. He was tired of playing games.
Abigail was once shocked. She asked him, "How do you know?"
" Doesn’t matter now Abbie.... Who was the person?"
Abigail sighed and told him it was just a contract marriage with Draco. Nothing much. She would soon get out of it.
But Archie would not buy it. He knew it’s for the company sake. He even asked if the man had ever touched her.
Abigail was shocked and looked at him in confusion..." What’s wrong Archie?"
" Really?" He scoffed, ran his fingers through his hair . "I loved you since childhood. Why couldn’t you notice? Why did you go to Draco for help? My family company is good enough to help you. Why couldn’t you lie to Draco that you were married instead?"
Archie kept roughing his hair in rage. Abigail tried to reach him, but he avoided her hand and left. Abigail felt pained that he did not let her speak.
On this matter, Henry was the only person who could help her company without getting hurt. Even Oliver knew about it but did not just want to admit it. It was very risky for Archie’s family company. Because her company had been labelled by a powerful politician she did not know.
She had made some research and found out that Henry’s father was a great backer for most successful businessmen. He handled Henry, Oliver, and even Min Ho. She could have used Oliver to get to him. But the man hated games, and using Draco was a good thing.
Henry may have understood her more. That was why he married her. In fact, all he was doing was for her sake. She just connected the dots and found it weird. The dinner was specially made for her to meet his father. But the man was not around.
Very soon, she would start going to Draco’s company, and they would mix up their employees. This would make this person reveal himself and back off her company. She just hoped Archie would understand and would not fight Henry.
Whoever told him about this had successfully added another huge problem to her life just after she thought about how to be careful with Selena, Susan, and Anna.
Her spies told her Anna was trying to investigate her connections with Oliver Lancaster, and very soon she would find out. This would cause another problem.
"Archie??" she cried. She was a strong woman, but she cried as she chased him. But Archie was too fast and left.
Abigail went back to her office to find her phone. She did not even know Archie loved her that much. To be honest, Archie was who she had been planning to at least date, but who knows something like that would happen.
After finding her phone, she called Oliver immediately and started crying. She told him Archie found out about Henry.
Oliver was shocked. " That jerk! Didn’t I tell him to meet him to meet me at his hotel?" He sighed. " Don’t worry, relax Abbie, I will get back at you later"
Abigail trusted him and finally calmed down. Not long, Michael entered gracefully and put four pictures down. Then he frowned at her. "What’s wrong with you?"
