Chapter 71: CHAOS REALM
The place was an endless stretch of lush greenery.
At first glance, it was probably the most beautiful scene anyone had ever witnessed.
But looking closely, the endless grass was not static for long.
Before Azrael’s eyes, it began to shift.
"This one seems dangerous," Jasmine said, vaulting upward.
Azrael followed instantly.
Beneath them, nothing remained but magma burning at a heat far beyond that of a sun.
Jasmine watched with quiet amusement as the heat reached Azrael.
His clothes dissolved before he could draw the next breath. His body melted and reformed more than ten times within that single moment.
Jasmine watched casually, as though it were entertainment.
The temperature did not so much as make her break a sweat. To her, it seemed to register as only slightly warmer than before.
Clara on the other hand was barely holding on.
Her essence barrier shattered repeatedly under the heat, reforming only to break again.
Then in the next second, the magma vanished.
Replaced by an endless ocean.
At the same time, Azrael felt the intensity of gravity in the area spike to an absurd level.
But it was at least bearable.
"Where is this place?" He asked, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
His body was wrapped in a piece of essence clothing he had shaped at the last possible moment.
"Welcome to the Chaos Realm," Jasmine said with a smile, landing on the ocean’s surface without disturbing it. "A realm where the laws of reality are a never ending puzzle."
She went quiet for a moment.
"You will get used to it soon enough."
The touch of her feet sent a soft ripple outward, rings of water spreading gently from where she stood.
"First lesson. Learn to walk on water using only your essence," Jasmine said, looking up at Azrael who still floated above an essence platform.
"I can hold this for about thirty minutes."
A sharp glint formed in her eyes.
"Which means you must learn to walk on water within thirty minutes, or there will be a punishment."
Before she could finish the sentence, Azrael had already landed on the water’s surface.
"This?"
Jasmine looked at him with a smirk.
"A genius indeed," she said, breaking into a short burst of laughter.
The floor changed before she could continue.
This time it was the void of space itself.
The entire planet was gone. They stood in nothing.
Azrael’s eyes bulged as oxygen left him entirely.
"Second lesson. Survive until the realm switches to somewhere with air."
As she spoke, she enclosed Clara in a protective tube of pure essence.
Clara watched Azrael with barely concealed fear.
She had been warned beforehand that her role here was limited to helping with menial tasks and that she was never to interfere with his lessons. But the instinct to act was difficult to suppress.
Azrael gripped his throat.
"Huh?" Jasmine looked around as the scenery changed again.
They were back somewhere normal.
The sky above them was filled with soft clouds. The ground beneath their feet was short, ordinary grass.
Azrael coughed violently as oxygen rushed back into his lungs.
"Why did that cycle end so quickly?" Jasmine muttered, shaking her head.
"You are quite lucky," she said to Azrael.
Then her expression shifted into something closer to a smile.
"That should be a full cycle, so the next one will not come for another two hours," she said, tapping her chin lightly.
She thought about it for a moment, still watching Azrael.
"Let us go to my house."
Before the words had fully landed, she was already hopping forward.
Azrael watched her from behind.
’What kind of personality is this?’ He wondered.
"Lord Azrael, how are you feeling?"
"Better," Azrael replied, straightening himself.
They followed behind Jasmine, and before long, a building came into view.
"You built this yourself?" Azrael could not help but say as he took it in.
"I created it with essence, then used a tier seventeen soul core to solidify it."
Azrael nodded slowly.
But as the full weight of those words landed, his eyes widened.
He was not alone in that reaction.
For the first time since Azrael had known Clara, he actually saw her expression break.
He found it entirely reasonable.
A tier seventeen core was the absolute apex of the universe.
Such cores were not used on buildings. They were used to create clan treasures, artifacts of generational significance. Even acquiring one required the coordinated effort of at least three tier seventeen cultivators alongside someone with advanced spatial manipulation, all working together against a beast that should not be possible to kill.
And Jasmine had used one to solidify a house.
She did not acknowledge their shock as she walked toward it.
The doors swung open before she reached them.
The mention of dimensional beasts pulled at something in Azrael’s mind.
"Rion," he said quietly.
Rion emerged from his core and settled onto his shoulder.
Clara’s guard rose immediately, her body shifting to place herself between Azrael and the beast.
Then she saw Azrael stroking it and understood.
"Make yourself at home. If you need anything, speak to the house and it will be provided."
Jasmine said those words as they stepped inside.
The interior was plain.
A few chairs.
Five doors.
Two on the left side of a shared corridor, facing each other.
Two more beside each other without a corridor between them.
The last one stood open, revealing a kitchen that had clearly not been used in a very long time.
"You can each take one of the opposite rooms," Jasmine said, gesturing toward the corridor on the left.
Azrael nodded and moved toward the rooms immediately.
He had no desire to spend more time in Jasmine’s company than necessary.
"Sleep early and well. This house is the only place in this realm where you can rest properly," Jasmine said as she watched him head toward the room on the right.
[Translation. You are finished tomorrow.]
The system said in his mind, accompanied by a crying emoji.
Azrael nodded at Jasmine’s words without looking back.
Clara followed, moving to take her usual position in front of Azrael’s door.
Splurt.
Blood hit the air before being absorbed by the building itself before it could touch the floor.
"I made myself clear. Take one of the rooms."
