My Overpowered Demon System

Chapter 70: MONSTER

Abaddon stared at Azrael for a moment longer.

"No one can know of your core’s grade. Not even Sylvester, who brought this matter to my attention, or your friends."

Azrael nodded slowly.

[Are you sure you do not want to raise the matter of the curse here?]

The system asked.

Azrael shook his head subtly.

"What are you dissatisfied about?" Alaric asked immediately.

"Nothing," Azrael replied quickly.

The atmosphere had already softened now that the council had said everything they needed to say.

"If that is all, we can adjourn," Abaddon said.

Jasmine cut in before anyone could move.

"Azrael, go and prepare. We are leaving for a nearby dimension in about seven minutes."

Azrael blinked.

His mind nearly went blank at that.

What did she mean leaving for another dimension in seven minutes. Without any prior warning. Seven minutes to prepare.

Noticing his expression, the others in the room vanished one by one.

It was as though they were afraid of what was coming next.

Azrael’s eyes widened as he looked around.

’Did my father just abandon me?’ He wondered.

But the thought was cut short as Jasmine’s voice reached his ears.

"You mean you did not know that I, your great aunt, do not reside in this estate," she said, her expression shifting as though she were on the verge of tears.

In Abaddon’s office, Lilura furrowed her brows.

"Where is Azrael?" She asked.

Beside her, a boy who stood at the same height as Abaddon sat quietly.

His crimson hair was tied back in a ponytail that cascaded down his back. His crimson eyes flickered faintly.

His bearing was calm but radiated a quiet, cold oppression into the surrounding space.

"Marvin," Abaddon said to the boy with a smile. "Seems like the prodigal son finally decided to come home."

Marvin only smiled as he shifted in his seat.

"Abaddon, you have not answered me. Where is Azrael?" Lilura asked again.

She understood exactly what he was doing. Changing the subject by acknowledging Marvin.

Abaddon sighed and looked away from Marvin.

"Has this trick really stopped working? How rusty have I gotten?" He muttered with an exaggerated exhale.

"You know it is rusty, and you are trying it for the second time. Did you expect me to play along?" Lilura asked with a faint smile.

"He is under Jasmine’s tutelage."

Lilura raised a brow.

"You did not mention there was a new instructor named Jasmine," she said, still smiling. "I just hope she is capable and does not behave like a certain Jasmine I know."

Abaddon cleared his throat.

"There is no new Jasmine."

As if those words were the exact trigger she had been waiting for, Lilura’s expression snapped.

"Why would you allow that child to stay with a monster like her?" Lilura asked, rising smoothly from her chair.

Marvin settled back into his seat and watched with something that looked like genuine curiosity.

This was one of the rare occasions where Abaddon remained passive. No one except Lilura could do this to him, and the two of them rarely argued.

"I did what is best for him," Abaddon said.

"Best for him? By sending him to that monster? So she can kill him for sneezing too loudly?"

She came with question after question.

Abaddon said nothing.

He looked at Marvin.

Marvin lowered his head.

"Just when it was getting interesting," he murmured as he rose and excused himself.

The door shut quietly behind him.

Abaddon looked at Lilura.

"Azrael awakened an Infernal grade core."

It was as though her mind had been cut off at the source.

For several seconds after he said it, she did not speak.

Then she drew in a long breath.

"What if..."

Abaddon looked at her the way someone looks at a person who already knows their own answer.

"Yes. She is strong enough to protect him from anyone. She is an exceptional teacher. And so?"

Abaddon placed his palm on Lilura’s shoulder and guided her back into the seat.

"Do not worry. I made my position clear to her beforehand. She cannot touch a single hair on his head."

Lilura looked into his eyes.

Somehow, those words made her more uneasy than before.

But she did not argue further.

"Just know that if she does anything to Azrael, your clan loses a great elder that day."

Abaddon looked at her with a smile.

"I did not know you had grown so confident," he said.

Lilura puffed her cheek and looked away.

"We can spar later if you want to find out."

Abaddon nodded and rose from the chair.

"So Azrael will not be at the family dinner I spent so long planning?"

"There will be many opportunities for family dinners. The priority right now is making Azrael as strong as possible in as little time as possible."

"One more thing," Lilura said, raising a finger. "Do not use my son as a war instrument."

"Our son," Abaddon replied without missing a beat.

Meanwhile, Azrael stepped through a tear that had been punched through space itself.

His face was heavy, like someone who had just endured the longest seven minutes of their life.

Behind him, Jasmine walked in with her usual carefree ease.

She was barely three feet tall, but the way she carried herself radiated an allure that persisted even in her most unbothered moments.

Azrael did not look up for the first few seconds.

He was still processing those seven minutes and what they meant for how his life was going to look from this point forward.

[I genuinely think you should consider running away and starting fresh somewhere else.]

The system said.

’I am considering it,’ Azrael replied in his mind, and he sounded entirely serious.

Just then, he heard a familiar voice.

One he had heard more than almost any other since arriving in this world.

"Clara," Azrael said with furrowed brows. "How are you here?"

"I asked Alaric to give her a one time key that opens a passage to this place," Jasmine said lazily.

"Oh," Azrael said.

But the word caught in his mouth as he took in the sight before him.
