Hayato looked at the word for a long time.
Rei hated that most.
The report had arrived at the end of morning drills, when the room still held the smell of sweat, ink, cold tea, and old paper pretending not to listen. Sawamura had been running a supervised route-recognition exercise with the students, not because he had inherited Kitahara’s function, but because Moriyama had allowed him to begin building a different one under observation.
That distinction had taken twenty minutes to write.
Daigo had complained for nineteen of them.
Then the notice came.

Everyone looked at her.
She looked at the report.
“They cannot say he was swallowed. He kept choice. So they call that diffusion”
Tomonari’s voice was quiet.
“If he learns from us, we infected him. If he does not, he was excluded. Both frames serve containment”
Rei felt the old protective impulse rise so violently it almost tasted like blood.
Make Hayato smaller.
Move him out.
Argue that he was never part of this.

Hayato stood.
Not all the way.
Just enough that the chair stopped holding him.
“I learned role refusal because a curse tried to make me the bad student. I learned not to let a report make that disappear because the first report made me perimeter discipline. I learned maybe later is not yes because support can come in bad frames. I learned I am not non-core because that word came through a bad route”
His voice shook.
He kept going.
“I did not learn those because I wanted to be in a special room. I learned them because things kept using me after I thought I was outside”
Daigo looked away first.
Akiha did not.
Hayato continued “If other students are never allowed to learn any of that, then the first time a room uses them, they will only have adult words. That might not be enough”
He stopped.
Then added, smaller but clear:
“I do not want to be evidence that the room infects people. I am evidence that outside is not always outside”
