Daniel, Arcios, Keero, and Violet took off their clothes, with only their underwear remaining, when everyone left the tower. They ran towards the pond and immediately jumped into it, and started playing. What delighted them so much was that the water obeyed all of the commands they shouted at it, like throwing them up in the air, allowing them to walk and glide on top of the water, allowing them to bounce around, and even allowing them to dive deep inside, with them able to breathe.
It felt to the kids that they had entered a true magical land. Their laughter floated around the area, and thankfully, the tower was far enough away from their neighbors that their loud noises didn’t reach them; otherwise, they would have received complaints already.
Even though it was a little cold, Daniel, who was the proclaimed leader of the four of them weren’t worried that they would get sick. Before Flinx left, he gave Daniel four magic potions that Deniel had left on the table inside the tower. The magic caster knew that the four children would spend the day frolicking in the pond, and there was a good chance that they could catch a cold, so, hence, the potions. Daniel planned to follow Flinx’s instructions for each one of them to drink the potions after they were done playing.
The four kids played a very complex game of tag inside the pond since the water obeyed their commands. They used different tactics to get away from the “It” kid, and the “It” kid would also use every command that he could toward the water to catch the other three kids.
After a while, the four kids heard a knocking on the gate. Daneil grumpily went out of the water to chase away the person knocking on the gate. Unfortunately, it was their noble neighbor.
“Hello, kid. Is Flinx inside?” The noble said. Daniel forgot the old man’s name.
“No, old man. Flinx went to the dungeon,” Daniel told the nobleman.
The noble just smiled and asked Daniel to call him Faraway.
“I have a window overlooking your pond, and I saw that it was some kind of magic water. Can I look at it?”
“Sure. Just close the gate after you enter,” Daniel left the nobleman to rush back into the pond and jumped into it once he was near enough.
Flinx told them that even though there was supposed to be a magic lock on the gate, once it was open, anyone could enter. The magic lock would only work once it was closed. Flinx also told them that the magic lock was simple and could easily be bypassed. The true guardian of the tower was the pond and the stone golem that were still standing by the door. That was why Daniel wasn’t afraid of any intruder.
The kids ignored the nobleman who was watching them play. They did see that the man who called himself Faraway had an amazed expression on his face. Daniel could understand the nobleman. Even he, who was playing in the pond, still couldn’t believe the magic that allowed them to command the water, with the water obeying their every whim.
Faraway stayed for hours watching the kids play inside the pond. The kids continued ignoring the old man, which seemed to just make the nobleman amused.
When the kids got tired and hungry, they all exited the pond and went inside the tower to get the food prepared for them by Christopher. The food was simple fare, just bread with meat and some kind of sauce inside. Still, they tasted delicious to the hungry kids. The funny thing was, they were still ignoring the nobleman.
Faraway approached the kids who were eating beside the pond. The nobleman noticed that the stone golem that was standing by the door started focusing on him.
“So the water was bespelled by Flinx?” The noblemen asked the kids.
“The pond is not actually water. It’s a giant water golem that can turn itself into a pond. That’s why it’s obeying our command. It’s the actual guardian of the tower. It only allowed you here because I allowed you to enter to watch us play. You’re not a pervert, are you? If you are, our water golem can snuff you out easily,” Daniel boasted.
The old nobleman laughed at the rough statement from the kid. He knew that the four kids were street rats that Flinx supposedly hired as his servants, but based on what Faraway could see, the kids were being treated as family members.
Since the four kids were very proud of Pondy, which was the name they had given the water elemental, they boasted to the old man about its powerful abilities.
“Can I try swimming in it?” The old nobleman asked, which startled the kids.
“It’s awfully cold, old man. You might get sick. Flinx gave us magic potions that we’re supposed to drink after we’re done playing to make sure that we’ll not get sick. He only gave us four, so we can’t give you one. The potion is so magical. Arcios and Ambrose got sick with the cold, and they were healed immediately!” Daniel boasted.
“Not only that, Pondy will not obey you. Pondy’s only supposed to obey us,” Violet stated in her high voice.
Normally, Violet didn’t intrude on any conversation since she was supposed to make sure that no one would know that she was a girl for her safety. Ever since Flinx took them in, Violet had been slowly regaining her voice and her confidence. The kids felt safe within Flinx’s tower area.
“How can the pond be the tower’s guardian?” the old nobleman asked.
“Pondy! Show this old man your golem form!” Daniel commanded.
They all saw the water climb out from the pond and turn into a giant water elemental. The kids saw the old noblemen’s jaw drop upon seeing the water golem’s huge form. The kids laughed, and after that, Daniel commanded Pondy to return to being a pond. The huge water golem went to the pond and transformed into a clear pool of water.
“Flinx is truly a powerful magic caster,” the nobleman softly exclaimed.
“He sure is! We saw him fight the Semanor, the powerful shield warrior. Flinx was like a god! He flew up into the air, and all sorts of magic spells came out from him to attack Semanor. The warrior could hardly move!” Daneil boasted.
“I believe Flinx is a light guardian! He came down from the heavens to help us!” Violet exclaimed loudly.
“Flinx is not a light guardian! He’s just a very kind wizard!” Keero retorted.
A brawl suddenly started between the four children, and they only stopped when the water elemental extended four water arms and picked up the four kids to separate them. After the water elemental brought them down, they ran towards the pond, jumped in, and started playing again. They ignored the old nobleman again.
Daniel let the old man be after he saw Faraway had found a rock to sit on to continue watching them. He didn’t detect any malice from the old nobleman, and Daniel was an expert in detecting perverts. They all had to be to avoid being enslaved by malicious people.
He saw that the old man was just entertaining himself at the magical scene of the water obeying their every command.
