DMS Chapter 89

DMS Chapter 89

Semanor led Ambrose to a large study with bookcases and comfortable seats. The shield warrior’s two companions, who were also sporting diamond rank identification cards that they wore as medallions on their chests, were already there drinking beverages. The slim man was drinking some sort of ale, and the woman who was wearing robes was drinking something hot in a delicate cup.

Once everyone was seated, Semanor asked Ambrose a question.

“That golem was conjured by Flinx?”

“Yes! He conjured three of them to guard our family. He also conjured a very powerful water golem that could turn itself into a crystal clear pond!” Ambrose enthusiastically replied to Semanor

Ambrose idolized Semanor since the man was a powerful warrior adventurer, and his ambition was to become like Semanor someday. Besides, Flinx’s conjuration wasn’t a secret.

“How did he conjure it?” the lady who was wearing a robe asked.

When Ambrose was about to answer the woman, they saw him hesitate in replying and realized that it was because the boy didn’t know her name. Semanor apologized to Ambrose for not introducing his companions immediately.

Ambrose then learned that the slim warrior was called Ranul and the woman, whom Semanor confirmed as a wizard, was called Elizabeth.

“There was no elaborate process, Miss Elizabeth. We were outside the magic tower that Flinx also conjured when one moment, the golems, which he called Earth Elementals, were suddenly there.”

“So, they’re not golems but elementals!” The wizard called Elizabeth exclaimed.

“You said Flinx also conjured a magic tower?” the slim warrior called Ranul asked.

“Yes. It had five floor and it was wonderful. There’s always light if you want, but you can turn the lights down when you want to before you sleep. There’s hot water and cold water on the toilet and the sink on the first floor. There’s a magic toilet that flushes down your shit when you’re done, and there’s a hose that squirts out water to clean your bum. The temperature inside the tower is always comfortable regardless of the weather outside. At least that’s what Flinx had told us.”

“Can we look at that magic tower of yours?” Elizabeth asked.

“Well, it’s going to be Flinx’s decision if he’ll let you, but I’m sure he will! He’s extremely kind!”

Ambrose then told the three how Flinx adopted four orphans and hired his sister, his brother, and him to take care of the kids.

“He keeps saying that we’re his servants, but he treated us as his family!” Ambrose exclaimed.

Ambrose had been very open about his experiences with Flinx. He told them that Flinx left them alone to delve into the dungeon and had sent him to the guild to have three magic items appraised.

Ambrose wasn’t some naïve boy. All the information that he told Semanor and his two companions could easily be acquired by anyone. As a matter of fact, Flinx hadn’t told them anything that needed to be kept a secret. He was hoping that his stories about Flinx would earn the man a good reputation since he knew how important it was to have a good relationship with powerful people like Semanor and his friends.

He told them everything, like the family’s plan to open a business. After that, he quieted down and waited for a response from the three powerful diamond rank adventurer.

“Thank you for being open, Ambrose. You said you have items that need to be appraised? If you want, Elizabeth here could do that for you as thanks for sharing information about your family with us,” Semanor said, and Ambrose saw Elizabeth nodding her agreement.

Ambrose smiled and gave the three items to the wizard. He had been carrying the items since the start of the golem’s fight with the adventurers. When the wizard named Elizabeth received Ambrose’s sword, shield, and bracers, she made some gestures toward the items while muttering some incomprehensible words. Some kind of blue light emitted from the wizard’s hands and flowed towards the items. After that, she wrote a few things on a paper and handed it to Ambrose.

“That paper contains the details of your items. You can check it out later. You mentioned that ever since your magic tower was conjured by Flinx, he had always been delving into the dungeon. Since it’s the dungeon of Mara, I assume that he does go home every night, am I right?” Elizabeth asked, and Ambrose simply nodded after storing the paper in one of his pockets.

The three diamond rank adventurers asked Ambrose to inform Flinx that they wanted to visit their tower. Since there was nothing he could do, Ambrose simply nodded.

“Remember to tell Flinx to pay the tax for those items. I assumed that Elizabeth wrote the average prices of those three items.” Semanor asked while looking at Elizabeth, and the wizard nodded.

After the discussion, Ambrose was dismissed. Instead of going home immediately, Ambrose decided to register as an adventurer in the guild since he had the funds to do so. He so wanted to do it earlier, but Olivia was against it, and since she controlled their remaining funds, there was no chance for Ambrose to fulfill his desire to register as an adventurer.

Upon receiving the Iron Rank guild card, Ambrose immediately hid it since he didn’t want her sister to know that he had it. Besides, he wasn’t planning to do anything about being an adventurer yet. He was well aware that he wasn’t capable of fighting even the first floor of a beginner dungeon. Flinx did promise them that once the business was earning coins, they could use the funds to train themselves.

Since he was hungry, Anton decided to eat at the guild. While waiting for the food that he ordered, he read the paper that the diamond rank wizard Elizabeth gave him. The paper stated that the sword was a “flaming sword” that dealt flaming damage in its attacks. The shield was called a sturdy shield capable of increasing durability and adding defense to the shield holder, and the bracers add strength to the wearer. The paper noted that the items were intermediate magical items with a total cost of 200 gold coins each, which meant that Anton would have to pay 60 gold coins to the guild.

The information excited Ambrose and started imagining himself wielding the items inside the dungeon. He thought of something outrageous. He knew that Flinx didn’t need the items and would most likely just sell them. He would try to ask the wizard to let him keep the items, and once he was capable of delving into dungeons, he would earn the coins to pay back the magic caster three times the items’ worth. He was doubtful and a little ashamed, though, since Flinx would be the one who would fund his learning.

Ambrose thought that the first thing he would do was talk to Christopher and David. They were more intelligent than he was and could help him think of what he could say to persuade Flinx to let him keep the three items. He felt a little forlorn that Christopher didn’t want to become an adventurer. It would have been fun if both of them were delving into dungeons. He then thought of another outrageous idea. Maybe he could request Flinx to let one of the golems follow him inside the dungeon. That would make killing the monsters inside easier.
