DMS Chapter 88

DMS Chapter 88

Ambrose walked proudly on the streets of Ilioven. His stance was straight, and his chest was out, like a proud, spoiled noble that he was before the death of his father made their family fall. The reason he was extremely prideful was because of the powerful stone golem that was walking beside him, carrying the magic sword, shield, and bracers, on its back. Ambroise tied the items to the golem’s back so the golem’s hand would be free to do anything he commanded it to do.

He knew he was showing off, but Ambrose didn’t care. When their family fell, all their friends left them and started looking at them with disdain in their eyes. Now, a few of them approached him, asking about the golem. Ambrose ignored them, of course, and even sniffed contemptuously at some of them. When a few of them tried to challenge him, a simple command from him to the golem brought those braggart guards to their knees. No men, even if there were a few of them, could stand against the powerful stone golem. That made Ambrose more prideful. If he were being honest, he would have climbed the golem’s shoulder, just like what David, Arcios, and Keero did before, just to show off the golem.

Ambrose shook his head at how lucky they were that Flinx took them in as his servants. Even though they were servants, and not nobles anymore, being servants of such a powerful magic caster was something to be proud of.

Flinx was truly a powerful wizard. The wizard was able to conjure a magical tower out of thin air. The man could also summon powerful beings to be his guards. Ambrose, just like any citizen of Ilioven, assumed that someone who had attained such power would be cruel, but Flinx was extraordinarily kind. Ambrose felt like Flinx was one of those light beings who provided good fortune to others, just like the ones from the stories.

David told Ambrose and Christopher that Flinx was also an orphan. They also sadly told him and Christopher that Flinx told them that the magic caster didn’t have the ability to teach magic to others. He could understand the kids, since if Flinx suddenly told him that the caster could teach magic to him, even though it was his dream to become a powerful sword adventurer, he would ruthlessly abandon that dream and become a magic caster as well.

Still, even though he couldn't learn magic from Flinx, he was extremely excited simply because the magic caster could acquire powerful magic items from the dungeon. Based on the magic glow of the sword, shield, and bracers that the stone golem was carrying on its back, the items were already powerful, and Flinx told them that they only came from the 20th floor of the dungeon of Mara. Since they knew that Flinx planned to delve into the dungeon’s deeper floors, it meant that the wizard would be able to acquire the truly powerful magic items.

There was a chance that, because of Flinx’s kindness, he might be able to borrow such items from the wizard until he became powerful enough to acquire his own magic items.

When Ambrose saw that he and his golem were the center of conversation from people littering the streets, he lifted his chest proudly. He only stopped when he stumbled. His nose was so up in the air that he didn’t see the small stone on the ground. When he heard laughter from the surrounding people, he glared at them and rushed toward the Adventurer Guild in shame.

Upon arriving at the guild, a lot of the adventurers there stared at his golem.

“Boy, I heard that the golem was powerful. Can I test it?” An extremely huge adventurer who was carrying a large axe asked him.

Ambrose suddenly thought of a way for him to earn a lot of coins. He didn’t know if Flinx would be angry, but since Flinx didn’t say anything about how to use the golem, he thought that he would take advantage of it.

“Sure! Just pay me 5 silver coins, and you can test my golem for five minutes!”

The huge adventurer grinned, threw a few silver coins at Ambrose, who scrambled to catch them, then followed the man towards the back of the guild where the training fields were located.

When the information spread that Gorba, the axe-wielding adventurer, would test the golem, all the idle adventurers in the guild followed them. When Ambrose saw that the fight between the stone golem and Gorba had acquired such a huge audience, he knew that he couldn’t keep it from Flinx, and he wondered what kind of punishment he would receive.

Ambrose got nervous when he saw a few powerful adventurers in the audience seats. He was shocked to see Semanor there with two others, a slim, powerful-looking man and a woman who was wearing a robe, and based on the items on her, she was a powerful magic caster.

One of the adventurers volunteered to be the referee. Ambrose had to be nearby so he could command the golem.

When the referee shouted that the fight had started, Ambrose shouted at the golem to fight Gorba, but to make sure not to kill the man. Everyone was startled when the stone golem started running towards Gorba.

The movement of the stone golem was extremely agile. They thought that since the golem was made of stone, it would be slow, but its movement was as fast as a speed-type warrior.

Gorba wielded his axe expertly, but since the golem was fast, it managed to avoid being hit. The golem punched one of Gorba’s arms, and everyone saw Gorba’s arm break. The referee shouted that the fight was over and that the golem won.

Everyone was surprised again that the golem stopped when the referee shouted that the fight was over. They realized that the stone golem was intelligent.

Ambrose knew that the stone golem was not an actual golem but an Earth Elemental. He actually didn’t know what it meant, but Flinx told them that elementals were intelligent. After that, adventurers who thought themselves powerful rushed to test the golem. They felt that it was safe enough since the golem didn’t kill Gorba and only broke the man’s arm, which could easily be healed by a healer.

Soon, Ambrose managed to collect a few gold coins from the adventurers who wanted to fight the golem. So far, the golem hadn’t lost, even to gold rank adventurers.

Ambrose was startled when Semanor leapt from the audience seat and threw a gold coin at Ambrose. Everyone cheered when they saw Semanor planning to fight the golem. Since Ambrose couldn’t do anything about it, he just let it be. He just wished that Flinx wouldn’t be angry too much.

When the fight started, Semanor and the golem ran towards each other. The golem’s punch was blocked by Semanor's shield, and the golem’s arm was sliced off by the diamond rank shield warrior. The cheer of the adventurers became loud since they felt that Semanor was upholding the glory of warriors. Everyone was startled, though, when they saw the golem bend down towards the ground to touch the dirt. Then they all saw the golem siphoning off the earth, and its arm grew back; they all cheered, since they knew that the fight wasn’t over. The fight continued, but everyone saw that it was over for the golem. Semanor was just too powerful, and they saw that the shield warrior was now toying with the golem. The referee shouted that the fight was over when the golem was in pieces.

At first, Ambrose was extremely nervous since he thought that the golem was destroyed, but was relieved when he saw the golem start regenerating. After a few minutes, the golem was back. Everyone was truly impressed, even Semanor and his two companions, who were also Diamond Rank adventurers. After that, Semanor asked Ambrose to follow him, so he did.
