Chapter 117 Visions
"Is something bothering you?" Feeling his gaze, Lucas turned towards him.
John broke from his thoughts and shook his head. "No, just thankful that you're here for Hope."
Lucas stared at him without blinking, making John avert his eyes by instinct. Seeing this reaction, Lucas didn't say anything and gazed back at Hope and smiled.
One hour passed by as Lucas stayed and talked continuously with Hope. In the end, she finally went to sleep, and they went outside the hospital and sat on a bench.
"How's the business progressing?" As he sat down, he glanced at John with a serious look. Then he saw him glancing at Allison. "Don't worry, she knows more than you."
Although he didn't understand the full meaning, John nodded. "We already started building your base and the headquarters for the business. I made it a priority to finish your base first, which will take around one week."
Lucas nodded. He didn't mind waiting that long. Then he turned towards Allison and explained what was happening.
After hearing his explanation, she finally understood his motives. Her family also had a front business involving weapons, so Lucas was trying to do the same.
"There's something else." John suddenly spoke and brought back their attention. "The four former colleagues of mine arrive today."
Lucas looked thoughtful for a second, then responded. "Okay, when they arrive, call me." He then got up and patted his shoulder a few times.
Then he left for school with Allison.
"I feel like I've forgotten something." While in the car, Allison couldn't help but mention this to Lucas.
He steered to the left, then glanced over at her. "Maybe it's just a feeling."
Meanwhile, the "feeling" was waiting outside the hospital while constantly checking his phone. "Where did she go?"

Just as Lucas got out of one of his classes, he couldn't help but stop and glance at the girl in the distance.
It was Lydia, and she was speaking and looking in front of her, but there wasn't anyone there.
He smiled at this interesting scene, then started walking towards her. "You seem troubled."
Lucas' voice startled her, then she looked over, but when she glanced back in front of her, the boy disappeared. "Where did he go?"
Hearing her whispering, Lucas glanced around, then spoke. "Who are you talking about?"
Lydia suddenly broke out of her daze, then looked at him. "No one! Absolutely no one!" She then lowered her eyes and turned her body, wanting to leave his presence as soon as possible.
But a hand suddenly grabbed her arm and pushed her against the wall. Her heart jumped, and she looked over at Lucas.
"If you need help… You must ask for it." Lucas gazed into her eyes and smiled while brushing the back of his hand against her cheek.
Lydia was strangely quiet, but the growing anxiety and constant whispering in her head came to a stop with his touch.
This made her feel relieved and tense at the same time. "I… I'm just tired."
He chuckled and observed her tense body. He didn't want to scare her, but bring her a sense of relief, even if just for a moment, or she would go crazy.
When Lucas took back his hand, her body relaxed, but at the same time, she felt a sense of loss, as her mind became chaotic once more.
"Go on." Lucas gestured for her, then watched her leave in her heels in panic.
••••
As night set in and they finished school, Lucas brought Allison to his future base. The workers had left by now, and he could see that they had already progressed with the construction.
"Why are we here?" She glanced at him curiously, then studied the basement carefully.
As Lucas was about to answer, he heard footsteps. "For them." He pointed towards the incoming group. It was John at the front, followed by four people.
John arrived in front of them and started introducing the men. "This is Mason, Cole, Grant, and Owen." He then pointed towards each of them.
Mason was slightly skinnier than the rest but the tallest of them, at more than 190 cm (6 feet). He glanced at John, then at Lucas. "This kid is our new boss? Did you lose your mind?"
Cole, the most muscular of them all, tried pulling his arm, but Mason ignored him.
Grant pushed up his glasses and watched the show with anticipation, while Owen didn't care and just made some space, thinking of not getting involved in the trouble.
Just as John was about to speak, Lucas raised his hand. Then he approached Mason and looked up at him. "What? Do you require a beating to shut up?"
Mason was startled, but so was everyone else. Grant even took out some snacks and became even more excited.
"Kids these days have a lot of balls." Mason glanced at him with a smile, then glanced at his comrades. He didn't burst out since, to him, Lucas was just a kid.
