Chapter 116 Little Angel
While Lucas was still on his way towards Beacon Hills, Allison was staring blankly at the scenery outside the classroom window.
She was thinking of Lucas and wondering if he was okay. These past few days, they haven't talked much.
Every day that she went home from school, she couldn't look into her father's eyes without thinking of Gerard's dying face.
"Crash!"
"Ahhgr!"
The moment she was distracted, she tipped over a glass flask and broke it, and one piece of the glass went right into her hand.
All of the students looked in shock at the blood, and Mr. Harris rushed over. "Let's go to the school medic!"
••••
The doctor stitched the last part of the wound and put a bandage over it. He then took off his gloves and looked at her.
"It's nothing to worry about, but you should go to the hospital just in case. They have some better equipment there."
"Thank you." Allison nodded and left the medic's office. Then she called her father to pick her up.
When the car stopped in front of her, a slightly anxious Chris walked out. "What happened?!"
"Dad, I'm fine, just a cut. The doctor said it's alright, but I just need to go to the hospital." She reassured him while slightly shifting her eyes away from his.
Chris nodded and opened the door for her, then drove off toward the hospital.
Arriving at the hospital, Allison just did a regular checkup. After finishing, she walked around as her father was filling out some paperwork.
Just as she was walking down a different part of the hospital, she suddenly saw someone familiar. "John?"
Hearing the familiar voice, John stopped staring at the glass window and glanced back. He was surprised to see Allison. "Hey. Everything alright?"
Allison nodded as she approached him and looked over into the room. "I'm fine. But… what's going on?" Inside the room, she could see a little girl on the bed. Her head had no hair, and her face was very pale.
John's face hardened and he glanced at the girl with pain in his eyes. "That's my little angel, Hope… she has leukemia."
Allison couldn't help but feel sad at the sight. With tubes in her arm and nose, the little girl still had a happy smile on her face.
John gestured towards Allison, then entered the room. "Sweetheart, we have a guest."
"Is it Lucas?!" Hope raised her eyes excitedly, then glanced behind her father. When she saw that it wasn't him, her eyes dropped a little, but she still smiled. "Hi!"
"Hi! I'm Allison." Allison came closer to her and shook her little hand with extreme caution. "Do you know Lucas?"
When Hope heard Allison mention him, her eyes were filled with excitement once more. "Lucas is my friend! He helps Dad and me a lot… now he's even my dad's boss!"
Allison nodded and listened to her every word carefully. She pretty much figured out what was going on, realizing why John was so focused on money and why Lucas helped them whenever needed.
"Boss?" She couldn't help but glance at John with inquiry in her eyes.
John didn't show anything on his face and responded calmly. "Yeah. Just a security company. Lucas must have forgotten to mention it."
Allison nodded and didn't dwell much on it. She knew that he had a lot of secrets, but he had also disclosed many to her.
"Is someone talking about me?" This voice brought everyone's eyes over, and when they saw that it was Lucas, two people exclaimed simultaneously.
"Lucas!" x2
Allison glanced awkwardly at Hope and John, then walked over and hugged him.
Lucas grabbed her by the waist and kissed her, then he glanced at Hope and smiled while ignoring John's glare.
"Did you miss me?"
"Yes!" Hope shouted excitedly when suddenly her face became paler, and a little blood came out of her nose.
Lucas and John quickly approached her. While John was wiping the blood away in worry, Lucas was staring at her face.
"Uhhhg…"
Seeing her cry in pain, Lucas' eyes struggled for a moment, then he brought his hand over hers. "Everything is going to be fine."
He whispered as a barely visible black vein came from Hope straight into his body. Then Hope's struggling expression began to ease visibly.
Even John and Allison noticed her quick recovery. Allison glanced at his hand and realized what was going on.
Although John had no idea what was happening, he was no fool. The moment Lucas touched his daughter, her pain started fading away.
This brought back some memories of what happened on one of his previous missions. He stared at Lucas in deep thought. 'Could it be…?'
