Chapter 79: Cornered
Yura stood outside Loraine’s door, knocking gently on the hard wood to get Loraine’s attention.
She felt a bit bad for what she had said at the restaurant, and wanted to make it up to her and talk to her about what it meant to be an adventurer, and perhaps take her on a small mission to show her what it was like and give her some encouragement.
"Strange...she’s not answering." Yura muttered to herself, a bit bummed out as she knew that Loraine didn’t seem like the type to be a heavy sleeper, as she had been knocking on her door for the past five minutes.
’Is this related to that bad feeling I had gotten back at the restaurant?’ She asked herself, remembering how weird Loraine had acted and wondering if perhaps the young maid was thinking of doing something stupid, her teeth clenching at the thought as she was absolutely pissed.
"Don’t tell me the damn girl actually sneaked out!" She said to herself in an irritated tone, turning around to make her way down the hall and towards the main lobby.
The receptionist glanced up from her desk, eyes blinking in surprise as she recognized the famous adventurer from the Royal Capital, Yura Aliviere, the [Radiant Spear Master]. The tall woman’s crimson gaze stared at her questioningly, her arms crossed in a gesture of dominance and authority.
"Tell me, did you see a woman with white hair leave the Inn?" Yura asked questioningly, the receptionist nodding in confirmation as she spoke up.
"White haired woman? You mean Loraine, right?" The receptionist asked, scratching her chin contemplatively. "She did leave a little while ago, said she was going out to breathe some fresh air to help her sleep, but she hasn’t returned for a while now."
The receptionist’s words lit up a sense of dread and urgency in Yura’s heart, the crimson haired woman gritting her teeth in annoyance and frustration as she made her out of the Inn in great urgency, her speed a blur of movement as she run around the streets of Aveldon.
’Damn it Loraine! Where are you?’ Yura thought to herself, her eyes flickering to every nook and corner in the town of Aveldon, searching for the white haired woman.
As an A-Rank Adventurer, Yura possessed super human capabilities that most elites in the Adventurer rankings could only dream off, being able to move at speeds the normal human eye wouldn’t be able to comprehend and battle on a scale that could wreck immense destruction in her wake.
She eventually moved to the entrance of the town, the cold night air blowing against her face as her hair danced in the wind, her expression turning to that of worry as she didn’t know where Loraine could’ve gone.
’Did she go towards a monster forest? Surely she couldn’t be that dumb, right?’ Yura thought to herself, the woman sighing in quiet resignation and pity as she was starting to worry that Loraine could’ve possibly already have gotten herself killed, as she knew that even as a [Sacred Maid], Loraine just wasn’t going to have a chance of fighting against a monster.
Or....that was what she thought, as when she had reached the entrance of the town of Aveldon, gazing out into the distance, what her eyes caught made them widen in shock and surprise, the crimson haired woman not believing what she was seeing.

The battle was fierce and violent, Loranine’s blades gleaming through the moonlight as she slashed at her enemy with everything she had, the Horned Devil Rabbit proving to be a frustrating challenge for her as it had avoided everything she could possibly throw at it.
With every swing of her [Twin Steel Cleavers], the Devil Rabbit effortlessly evaded the attack, it’s agility far too much for Loraine to put up with, it’s beady eyes gleaming with mockery as Loraine grit her teeth in annoyance.
WHOOSH!
CLANG!
"Gurgh!!!" Loraine grunted as she blocked the Devil Rabbit’s attack, using her blades to block a direct strike with it’s horn, the attack aimed at her chest and full of killing intent.
’Damn...not good...’ Loraine thought to herself, grunting in pain as she felt the shock from the attack reverberate trough her arms, her arms throbbing with pain and feeling like jelly for a moment, before Loraine pushed the monster off of her with the last of her strength.
The Devil Rabbit flipped miraculously in the air, it’s head snapping down at Loraine mid-air as it charged a [Air Vortex Howl] at Loraine, the white haired maiden’s eyes snapping up at the Devil Rabbit as her expression changed to one of panic.
"Oh shi-!" Loraine didn’t have time to complete her curse as the powerful force of concentrated wind travelled towards her, her body moving with the last of its strength to leap out of the way, but she couldn’t make it out of the blast’s full radius in time.
The [Air Vortex Cannon] hit the earth where Loraine stood with great, earth-shattering force, the ground splitting apart before exploding violently, the shockwave impacting Loraine and blowing her backward, a pained grunt escaping her lips.

[HP: 390/780]
Loraine rolled on the ground for a moment, her breaths leaving her lips in exhausted bursts, her vision blurring as she grit her teeth, her body throbbing with pain.
’Fuck....50% on the dot?’ Her eyes shifted to the notification on her side, the system’s screen flickering in a warning light in the corner of her eyes.
’I can’t get hit anymore, not even the slightest bit.’ Loraine thought to herself, pushing herself off of the ground with great effort, a pained cry escaping her lips as her muscles screamed in protest, her chest heaving with exhaustion.
The Horned Crimson Eyed Devil Rabbit made it’s way over to her slowly, it’s form intimidating in the moonlight. The monster took it’s sweet time making it’s way over to Loraine, the white haired maiden gritting her teeth as she had to think of a solution quickly.
