Chapter 55: That’s Not What I Meant!
Loraine was In shock as she read the Item’s description, not being able to comprehend the insanity of it all. She hesitated wearing the [Sapphire Tears Of The Raging Leviathan], her hands trembling uncontrollably as she couldn’t bring herself to wear something so valuable, something so powerful so casually.
’No...I can’t wear this here, everyone will immediately be able to tell that these earings aren’t ordinary, let alone where they came from. It’ll only put a target on my back, especially now that I have everyone watching me more intently.’ She dismissed the thought, shaking her head as she stored the Item away, saving it for a later time.
She turned her attention back to the giant pile of treasure and bad goods, multiple upon multiple invaluable Items were available, the sheer absurdity of it all still giving her goosebumps as she tried to wrap her head around it all.
Her hands reached for a powerful sword radiating a bright blue light, the hilt carved in gold and housing a crimson ruby in the middle, the blade of the sword reflecting her face as she read the Item’s description.

’Woah...’ Loraine thought to herself in amazement, reading the Item’s description with her [Eyes Of Appraisal] Skill, the Item was far more powerful than the [Twin Steel Cleavers] she had received from the system, it looked like something a hero would wield from a fantasy novel.
"Too bad I can’t wield the damn thing..." Loraine sighed, the system ringing in her ears as it registered a error, wielding the overpowered might of the weapon’s 70 Attack into 1, rendering it’s edge as sharp as a butter knife in her grip.
She shook her head, now was not the time to be feeling sad about what she could and couldn’t wield. She had finally received a good weapon, and now had a rough idea of what she could utilize and what she couldn’t utilize.
’I can’t wield obvious weapons like swords, bows, or even axes.’ Loraine thought to herself, reaching out to grab a giant block of steel that radiated a faint magical pulse in her hands, sending a small shiver down her spine.
’I can wield other tools, like knifes and cleavers, and while most of those are crafted out of mundane steel, who says they can’t be crafted out of something extraordinary?’

Loraine stored the [Magi Steel Ore] into the [Ring Of Storage], as her mind was already formulating ideas on how she could get a suitable weapon crafted for her with the steel. The mountain of gold was hers now, and while she had yet to learn their exchange values, she was certain that she had more than enough for a task like that.
"Only problem would be leaving the damn house again." She sighed, her hand moving to grab another item when a knock came from her door, sending a jolt of surprise through her body as Loraine’s eyes widened in panic.
"Loraine?" Sarah’s called, her voice slightly muffled from the other side of her door. "Are you there? I wanted to see you after I’ve heard the news..."
Loraine’s heart hammered in her chest, her hand shooting out as she quickly stored everything into her [Ring of Storage], standing up and fixing her attire to look presentable.
’!?’ Loraine recoiled, her face scrunching up in agony as she had finally noticed the horrid smell that was plaguing her room. "God It smells so horrible in here, what do I do..." Loraine whispered to herself, covering her nose with her hand.
She couldn’t use [Cleanse] on the air as she needed to come in direct contact with something, it was the sole reason she would touch her clothes to activate the Skill, and you can’t exactly touch nothing.
Her eyes darted around the room for a moment, scanning for something she could use. Her eyes landed on the broom to her wall as she quickly rushed to it, grabbing the broom and opening her windows to let the foul smell out.
"The smell’s not going away fast enough," Loraine muttered to herself, her expression turning to that of resolve.
She tightened her grip on her broom, and with one powerful stroke, send a powerful shockwave that made the foundations of her room shake as a powerful gust of wind tore through the air and spiraled outside with the sound of a thunderclap.
The smell of crystal substances and drugs leaving her room all together, as she sniffed the air just to make sure that nothing she missed was still lingering.
"Come in!" Loraine said, using [Magical Grasp] to unlock the door as the lock clicked and the door swung open, revealing a surprised Sarah in the doorway.
Sarah was surprised to see that Loraine had opened the door from such a great distance, a smile blooming on her face as she entered the room, softly closing the door behind her. She stood there for a moment, the two of them locking eyes as neither said anything for a few seconds, the air charged with a different kind of tension.
’So I guess the rumors were true, Loraine really has awakened.’ Sarah thought, a spark of joy lighting up in her chest as she truly felt happy for her best friend.
She remembered how she was cleaning when she had first heard it, the maids whispering about Loraine’s awakening sent a wave of shock crashing down on her, and she couldn’t believe it for a long time as she was surprised.
Her best friend had awakened, and she wanted to come see it for herself as nobody had informed her about it.
"Loraine...." Sarah called out her name, a more profound emotion behind it, heavy with the weight of their bond as she stepped forward. Loraine turned around to face her best friend, a gentle smile on her face.
"Wassup?" Loraine asked, placing her hands on her hips as she feigned confidence, her stance tall and bountiful, though inside her heart was a racing mess, hammering against her ribs and threatening to jump out entirely.
’Thank god I reacted quickly, It would’ve been bad if Christine saw everything, or smelled how bad my room was just a minute ago.’ She thought to herself, inwardly breathing a sigh of relief as she didn’t want her best friend to think she was a consumer of that kind of product.
"Congrats on your awakening," Sarah said, her tone carrying genuine happiness as she placed a hand over her racing heart, her cheeks flushed with a slight tinge of embarrassment. "I honestly couldn’t believe my ears when I heard them speak about you, I wanted to rush over immediately."
Loraine let out a small chuckle, a grin spreading across her lips. She was about to retort and say something, when Sarah moved forward, wrapping her arms around Loraine as she pulled her into a tight hug, a startled gasp escaping Loraine’s lips as her body momentarily locked in place, the surprise catching her off guard.
"I’m so happy for you Loraine!" Sarah said, her tone taking on a more happier one as she picked Loraine up in her arms with surprising strength, spinning her around in a small circle as Loraine screamed from fright and surprise.
"You’re finally a proper maid now! Everyone’s gonna start acknowledging you!" She said with a joyous giggle, her face beaming.
"Sarah!" Loraine yelled, though her voice sounded less like a scream and more like a startled yelp, her face burning hot with embarrassment as she tried to hold onto the blonde haired maiden.
’Since when she was she so strong!?’ Loraine thought to herself, being spun around in the blond maiden’s arms for a bit before finally being let down, Sarah laughing at how embarrassed Loraine looked.
Loraine was about to retord and shout at Sarah for spinning her around like that, but was caught off guard by how happy Sarah looked in that moment, the world slowing down as she barely saw her smile with that much joy on her face.
"Thank you, Sarah." Loraine expressed her gratitude, walking up to the blonde maiden as she walked up to her, grabbing her hand as she looked into her eyes. "For everything,"
She took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for what she was about to say next, her heart racing.
"I’m so thankful for having someone like you in my life," She began, taking another step closer until the space between them was almost miniscule, Sarah’s face flushing in embarrassment as she gazed up at Loraine’s determined expression. "You were always there for me when I had nothing, taking care of me, protecting me, and supporting me when I was at my lowest."
Loraine felt her heart hammering as she gripped her chest, "Now I want to do the same for you, I want to protect you and care for you, just as much as you cared for me."
"As long as I am here, I won’t let anyone harm you ever again!"
Loraine declared, her face burning hot with embarrassment as she had never exerted this much passion for someone before, not even in her past life.
Sarah felt her heart melt at Loraine’s declaration, her face turning red as she started to blush uncontrollably.
"L...Loraine?"
"What?"
"You can’t just say things like that...yknow?"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
Loraine was confused by what Sarah was implying, as she had only meant to sound like a friend who really cared about their bestie. She thought about it hard for a moment, before realization stuck her and a blush started to form on her own cheeks, realizing just how her words sounded.
"Wait! Wait! Wait! That’s not what I meant!"
