Chapter 103: Water City
"I'm wondering if I'm taking up too much of your time," Meteria said hesitantly.
As Sion's partner, Meteria was naturally aware of his strength.
Because of that, she felt a little uneasy about him always accompanying her into the dungeon instead of focusing on his own progress.
"Don't think like that." Sion gently rubbed her head and said.
"For me, everything else is secondary, only you are the most important."
"Moreover, I have developed a spell that splits my mind into three separate parts."
"One part is constantly training my reserves, one part controls Raiden, and the final part stays right here with you."
"Even if I have to divide my attention, I'm still dedicating my time to you." Only after hearing Sion's words did Meteria finally relax.
"Mhm, that's great." Meteria smiled sweetly.
She knew she was the most important person to him but she still felt guilty for holding him back.
"You two are so slow."
After changing their clothes, they went downstairs and were met with Alfia's stern voice.
"You were diligent when you were sick but now that you're better, you've become lazy."
"If you slept in his arms, you probably wouldn't want to get up either," Meteria gave her a teasing smile.
Alfia was left completely speechless.
It was true...
Although she has feelings for Sion. Alfia wasn't mentally prepared for that kind of step yet.
"Let's go eat," Sion interrupted the twins playful banter.
It was getting late.
After eating their breakfast and resting for a bit, they would head straight back into the dungeon.
This didn't stop Sion from playing his own game on the side.
Piloting Raiden, he quickly reached the final section of the middle floors.
The area from the 19th to the 24th floor was known as the large tree labyrinth.
The reason it was called that was because all six floors shared the exact same scenery, a massive forest filled with towering trees.
In a sense, these six floors could be considered one giantly interconnected ecosystem.
The monsters relied entirely on the dense forest environment to ambush adventurers.
Many of them were fire type or poison type creatures, which drastically increased the overall danger.
They would either set the entire forest on fire or act with extreme cruel law of the jungle.
Once a massive fire started, both monsters and adventurers would burn to death.
Though, the monsters would eventually respawn and the dungeon would naturally restore the environment.
Because of that, the adventurers were always the ones who suffered the true losses.
Because it was far too dangerous, there were basically no solo explorers on these floors, everyone worked in dedicated teams.
Without the abnormal resistance development ability, it was difficult to survive the deadly threats of this floors.
But none of this mattered to Raiden.
Neither deadly poison nor flames could threaten her. She had a body forged entirely from soul matter and her true form was pure lightning.
Most of the time, the monsters couldn't even land an attack on her.
"Now, you shall perish!" Raiden stated coldly.
Endless bolts of purple energy transformed into lightning rods that pierced high into the sky before crashing back down.
Lightning streaked across the canopy like a violent rainstorm, indiscriminately striking the entire area while perfectly avoiding any wandering adventurers.
Countless monsters were completely destroyed, but the sheer heat also set the surrounding forest ablaze.
Seeing this, Raiden swung her blade once more.
"Torn to oblivion."
A massive lightning slash that stretched two hundred meters across the sky completely extinguished the growing sea of fire.
Conceptual lightning held power, precision, and an area of effect that far exceeded any ordinary magic.
It was practically an absolute racial advantage.
She then maximized her absorption magic to draw out the pure energy from the destroyed monsters and their fallen magic stones.
The energy consumed by her massive attack was fully restored in a matter of seconds, and her reserves could even be further increased through mind applications.
Absorbing goliath's magic stone earlier, combined with the massive haul from this floor allowed Raiden to level up her core strength by a significant margin.
However, her overall power was only equivalent to a level 4.
"The energy provided by level 2 magic stones is still far too little, and this environment isn't convenient either."
"I should continue deeper," Sion thought to himself as he controlled Raiden to venture further down into the dungeon.
Instead of staying in the big tree labyrinth, she headed down into the water labyrinth.
This aquatic region spanned three floors, from the 25th to the 27th floor.
They were entirely connected by a four hundred meter high waterfall known as the great fall, making it a spectacular sight.
What was even more exciting was that there was a monster rex residing in the water city. Its primary hunting ground extended across all three floors.
The Amphisbaena.
It had a baseline threat level equal to a level 5 adventurer which drastically increases to level 6 if fought directly in the water.
"It is truly magnificent."
All sorts of aquatic monsters coexisted here.
Instead of taking the standard steep tunnels, Sion controlled Raiden to levitate high into the air before using the sonar detection spell.
The spell scanned all three floors simultaneously.
The exact locations of the living creatures and the complex environmental layout were perfectly simulated into his mind.
"Found it," Sion muttered.
Having locked onto the monster rex, Raiden descended directly to the 27th floor.
