Chapter 99 99: Tsubaki Collbrande?
Raiden emerged from the passage and a bright open space appeared before her.
A massive hall came into full view.
What drew her attention was the monster standing in the center, surrounded by the adventurers battling it.
A group of upper tier adventurers, averaging level two and level three, were actively besieging Goliath.
It seemed the subjugation expedition had only just begun.
"Mhm, this way I won't feel guilty," Sion thought to himself as he controlled the puppet to step forward.
Deafening noise echoed through the room but he ignored it.
"Watch out, that attack is coming!"
No one noticed Raiden arriving because Goliath had already begun its classic prelude.
Over the course of a thousand years, Goliath's physical data, attack patterns, and skills had been thoroughly studied.
Because of that, even adventurers with an average rank of level two to level three could defeat the monster rex in a coordinated team battle.
"ROAR!"
A bellow echoed out. It was a sound released through mind, which in a sense could be considered a spell of its own.
The shockwave formed by the sound swept across the entire area.
It was highly similar to Alfia's spells but far less powerful.
"What are you doing?!"
As the adventurers desperately retreated to avoid the sonic shockwave, some of them noticed Raiden casually walking upstream against the blast.
They stared at her approaching figure.
Then, amidst Goliath's attack, Raiden drew her sword.
"Torn to oblivion."
Lightning gathered in the steel, and then her figure darted past the massive monster.
The blade vanished into a streak of light, and Goliath stopped moving.
A moment later, the monster was slowly split cleanly in two, turning into black ash and disappearing into the air.
"You must be joking," one adventurer muttered, perfectly expressing the thoughts of everyone present.
"Just one strike."
Goliath was famous for its absurd toughness. It usually took a large, highly coordinated team a long time to defeat it.
However, Raiden only needed a single strike.
'So it really is arcanum type lightning,' Sion pondered for a moment.
'No, this only barely touches upon it's concept. To be perfectly precise, it is an incomplete form of arcanum type lightning.'
That lightning strike just now only consumed one twentieth of Raiden's total power, simply because her lightning surpassed ordinary magic.
Even if it didn't qualify as a true arcanum power, it still carried a trace of its meaning.
It would be considered a lesser subspecies of it.
"Prey successfully secured."
Raiden glanced indifferently at the spot where Goliath was gradually turning to ash beside her.
A current of lightning swept through the debris, absorbing the monster rex's magic stone without anyone noticing.
Although he had just done something highly unethical by stealing their kill, Sion was currently operating from a third person perspective with zero physical feedback.
Because of that, he could easily treat the entire situation like a video game.
Thinking it over, Sion quickly controlled the puppet to leave the area.
His only reason for stealing the prey was because a monster rex dropped a high quality magic stone.
Although the threat level was only equivalent to a level four adventurer as a monster rex its magic stone contained an immense amount of energy.
"It would be great to have a few dozen more magic stones of this exact quality," Sion thought to himself. He then manipulated Raiden to head straight down to the eighteenth floor.
The eighteenth floor was a safe zone.
During this era, before the Zeus familia and Hera familia were completely wiped out, the floor was far more orderly than it would be in the future.
This was because the town of Rivira was currently maintained directly by guild staff.
In the anime, the main forces of the Zeus familia and Hera familia were almost completely annihilated, and the guild's millennia of accumulated wealth were severely depleted as a result.
That catastrophic loss of power caused many things across the city to spiral completely out of control.
For example, the pleasure quarter didn't just magically appear after Ishtar descended to the lower world. It had always existed, and it was originally managed by the guild.
Many black markets and casinos were also tightly controlled by the guild, preventing any faction from doing anything too outrageous.
After the two factions fell from power and left Orario, a series of events allowed Ishtar to take complete control over those areas, while the guild completely lost its grip.
This exact same loss of control happened to Rivira, as well as many other aspects of Orario.
"It still feels incredible no matter how many times I look at it."
Walking through the forest on the eighteenth floor, Raiden murmured softly.
"The dungeon not only produces monsters, but it also forms a complete ecological environment. Ordinary gods could never achieve something like this."
"Only a god who held authorities over creation and life could possibly pull this off."
Thinking about it from this perspective, Sion became even more curious about the true origins of the dungeon.
"Hey, miss in front, wait a minute!"
A voice suddenly called out from behind, causing Raiden, who was quietly admiring the scenery to stop in her tracks.
What came into view was a brown skinned girl wearing an eyepatch over her left eye.
She was tall and had a voluptuous figure.
This specific appearance, could it be Tsubaki Collbrande?
Sion immediately became interested.
Meanwhile, Raiden stared expressionlessly at Tsubaki, who had just run up from behind and asked, "What is it?"
