Danmachi: The Magic Grandmaster

Chapter 98: Goliath

Alfia thought for a moment before giving her twin a warning look. She took Meteria's hand and sat down on the sofa right next to Sion.

She was genuinely envious of how the two of them interacted.

Normally, she would've simply gone straight upstairs to her room.

However, her recent experiences in the dungeon made her realize that being so stubbornly reserved was completely unnecessary.

There was no reason to deny herself what she truly wanted just because she felt a little embarrassed.

"Come here, it's comfortable."

Fresh out of the bath and soothingly warmed by Sion's regulation magic, Meteria felt relaxed and cozy.

Stepping off his lap, Meteria leaned against Sion's shoulder and gently tugged at Alfia's hand.

"Come here."

He smiled and extended his hand. Alfia's breathing hitched slightly as she carefully sat down on his lap.

They fell completely silent.

Sion didn't overstep any boundaries, he simply wrapped his arms around her waist in a gentle comforting hug.

Under the soothing influence of his spell, Alfia slowly closed her eyes as the lingering tension in her body finally melted away.

Time passed quietly.

Resting intimately against Sion's chest, the twins could clearly feel the rhythm of each other's heartbeats.

"I'm going to sleep."

Twenty minutes later, Alfia stood up.

"Goodnight," Sion said with a warm smile.

"Mhm, goodnight."

Alfia didn't turn back around, refusing to let Sion see the unusually soft expression on her face.

Compared to her usual intimidating demeanor, she had softened considerably.

"Goodnight, sister."

Meteria chuckled softly before wrapping her arms around Sion's neck.

"Mhm."

Sion stood up and carried Meteria back to their room.

Although they had just said their goodnights, their actual evening had only just begun.

Thanks to his regulation spell, they only needed a short nap to fully recover their stamina.

Because of that, Meteria was currently brimming with energy.

"They're so noisy."

Hearing the faint commotion coming from the floor below, Alfia slowly opened her eyes.

She used her magic to completely block out her hearing.

Though, feeling strangely agitated and entirely unable to sleep, she eventually canceled the spell and unblocked her ears.

She propped herself up in bed, pulled back the curtains slightly, and quietly stared up at the moon.

She only managed to lay back down three hours later, long after the sounds had finally faded away.

The next day brought clear weather.

Perhaps she was simply too tired from the night before, or maybe she was just far too comfortable.

Even though Meteria was awake, she remained curled up in Sion's arms, half asleep and unwilling to get out of bed.

Sion held Meteria close while simultaneously taking control of Raiden to explore the dungeon.

Even though he was lazily lying in bed, it didn't stop him from effectively playing a highly immersive game while cuddling his gf.

"Then, let's begin."

Raiden gazed at the dark passage stretching out before her.

She then charged straight into the depths of the dungeon.

Raiden crossed multiple floors to reach the seventeenth floor of the dungeon.

"Elementalization test complete," Sion muttered through the puppet.

Emerging from the brilliant glow of thunder, Raiden clenched her fist and stepped forward.

The seventeenth floor of the dungeon was home to a highly special monster.

It was a monster rex.

A monster rex was born inside a massive separate room, typically acting as a gatekeeper right before a safe floor.

In other words, to proceed to the next floor, adventurers had to either defeat the monster or desperately escape its attacks.

A monster rex held a threat level far beyond the standard monsters of its floor.

For example, on a floor suitable for level two exploration, the boss would boast a threat equal to a level four.

Coupled with their enormous size and formidable strength, they were classified as terrifying calamities that couldn't be defeated by any single individual.

Even among monsters of the exact same level, there were no opponents more troublesome than them.

It was exactly like the difference between an ordinary bos and a domain boss.

Putting the immense gap in raw stats aside, their attack patterns and physical resilience were superior to any normal monster.

Regular monsters were like ordinary minions, enhanced species were like elite enemies, irregulars were like mini bosses and a monster rex was the ultimate area boss.

Above even them were the three great monsters. Te ultimate calamities that made up the three grand quests issued by the guild.

They stood at the highest pinnacle of this world's hierarchy.

...

The monster rex of the seventeenth floor was none other than goliath.

By the time Raiden arrived inside the massive room, goliath had already respawned and a large group of adventurers had formed a subjugation squad to fight it.

"Is this a goliath subjugation campaign? I'm sorry but I need that magic stone," Sion mumbled through his puppet.
