Chapter 403: Mr. Grant’s Mrs. Grant (7)
’Pay attention, my ass! So much happened yesterday—I nearly lost my innocence! How was I supposed to remember all that?!’
"You have five minutes. If you don’t get a move on, you’re really going to be late!" Terrence Grant reminded her, lifting his wrist to look at his watch. A stinging pain flared from the spot—the medicine was working. He could see with perfect clarity that the bite mark was becoming more and more pronounced.
’He did it on purpose! Everything last night was part of his plan! That insidious man!’ Seraphina Sterling made a mad dash and vaulted right over the campus wall. She desperately wanted to stop thinking about that meticulous, arrogant, insidious, and cunning man! He had deliberately taken her to his home, deliberately chosen not to take her back to school, because he knew she wouldn’t be late even if they woke up the next morning! Terrence Grant was completely and utterly shameless!
Only after watching her get safely onto campus did Terrence Grant turn to leave. ’Of course I did it on purpose. It’s best to strike first. Otherwise, how am I supposed to fend off all those romantic rivals by myself? Wyatt Gallagher is over there, watching like a hawk. And that old geezer, Felix Gallagher, is helping him, too. I have to keep a close watch on her. If that little troublemaker really gets snatched away by Wyatt, who will I complain to then?’
Seraphina Sterling walked into the classroom with just one minute to spare. She headed straight for the last empty seat, having narrowly averted disaster.
And so, her life at the university began. Aethelgard University boasted a strong academic atmosphere. Its policies toward students were a mix of lenient and strict. Besides the required courses, students could freely choose other classes based on their interests. If you were capable enough, you could even complete the next year’s credits ahead of time, shortening your degree program—all you had to do was schedule your classes wisely.
Most freshmen, having just survived the brutal college entrance exams and gone through hell to finally get into university, were naturally eager to relax. Simply not being late or skipping class was the most they could manage, let alone trying to complete credits in advance. But Seraphina Sterling was different. She didn’t need to relax. What she lacked most was time. Between juggling her classes and running her company, she had no spare time to get ahead on credits.
After a week, Seraphina Sterling had settled into the rhythm of her new life. Every day in their dorm room, she had to listen to Shelby Fenton flaunting her wealth and Yvonne Hollis’s fawning sycophancy. If those two started trouble with either her or Genevieve Churchill, a verbal sparring match would immediately break out, one that she and Genevieve invariably won.
They won every single time, yet Shelby Fenton and Yvonne Hollis never learned their lesson. The next time, they would inevitably start another fight, only to be promptly defeated again. While the coursework wasn’t overwhelming, it wasn’t a walk in the park either. Seraphina decided to keep a low profile, only speaking when called on by a professor and otherwise fading into the background. While the professor lectured at the front of the room, she would be monitoring the stock market on her phone.
Plenty of students used their phones in class, so the professors didn’t pay it much mind. Whenever she got caught, as long as she could answer the professor’s question perfectly, they wouldn’t care what she was doing. By the end of the week, Seraphina Sterling had been called on more than any other student; nearly every professor had put her on the spot. It was because she was always on her phone or doing something else during lectures. Soon, however, none of them had a problem with her apparent lack of attention anymore. There was nothing to be done about it—the girl already knew everything. For her, sitting through class was just a waste of time.
Of course, whenever a professor scolded students for playing on their phones, they would reflexively use Seraphina Sterling as a shield. "I’m not the only one on my phone! Why don’t you go yell at Seraphina Sterling?"
