Chapter 462: Holding On and Not Letting Go (Part 2)
Seeing that Nadia Chapman was doing alright, Seraphina Sterling finally relaxed. "Mr. Quinn, I’ll leave your men for you to handle. I just taught them a small lesson. It shouldn’t be life-threatening!"
’A small lesson?’ The corner of Leo Warren’s mouth twitched. Though he hadn’t seen the state of the men inside, he had heard their sharp screams loud and clear. ’If this was just a small lesson, what would a harsh one be?’ Leo Warren didn’t dare to imagine. ’How can a young woman be so violent!’ Of course, he would never admit he was just a little jealous of Seraphina Sterling’s impressive skills.
"I’ll handle the rest. Westbound will give President Chapman a satisfactory explanation," Martin Quinn said, his voice low. A flicker of malice crossed his deep-set eyes—the signature ruthlessness of the Quinn Family’s heir.
"Fine. We’ll be waiting for your explanation. But that’s for later. Can you put Nadia down now? We need to go home." Seraphina Sterling glanced at the empty sofa, then back at Martin Quinn’s posture, unable to figure out what this heir was thinking. ’Could he really be interested in Nadia? No, that can’t be right.’
’A man like him is far too calculating; he’s not someone Nadia could handle. A scion from a powerful family like his, especially one groomed to be the heir since birth, would be incredibly shrewd. Unless he spells things out himself, we’ll never know what he’s truly thinking.’
"Miss Sterling, you may leave. President Chapman stays," Martin Quinn said. His words were concise, but his meaning was unmistakably clear.
"No!"
"No!"
Seraphina Sterling and Nadia Chapman cried out in unison. The moment perfectly highlighted their rapport.
"I came here today to take Nadia home, and I absolutely will not allow her to stay here by herself!" Ever since she had arrived, Seraphina Sterling had maintained a faint smile, even in her anger. But after hearing Martin Quinn’s words, the smile vanished from her face, her expression turning unyieldingly firm.
"President Chapman is injured and was drugged. This incident happened at Westbound, and as the one responsible for this place, I have an obligation to look after her health. Recuperating here at Westbound is the most appropriate course of action." Martin Quinn wasn’t as agitated as Seraphina Sterling, but his resolve was every bit as firm as hers, if not more so.
"Since you know Nadia was harmed at Westbound, Mr. Quinn, you should understand that this is hardly a comforting place for her. Staying here won’t allow her to rest with any peace of mind. Her impression of Westbound is terrible, and after what happened, this place now fills her with fear. The best thing is for Nadia to come home with me. As for her health, I will take responsibility."
Seraphina Sterling refused to back down an inch, even when facing Martin Quinn, the scion of an immensely powerful family.
"However, you did make a good point, Mr. Quinn. This happened at Westbound, and as its owner, you are indeed responsible. You’ll cover all of Nadia’s medical fees. In addition, there’s compensation for pain and suffering, plus recuperation costs. You don’t have to give much—a hundred thousand, or maybe two, should suffice."
Nadia Chapman listened quietly to their argument, nodding with every word Seraphina Sterling spoke. She was in awe of Seraphina’s courage and eloquence. ’If it were me,’ she thought, ’facing someone as domineering as Martin Quinn, I can’t say I’d be able to stand my ground so firmly without wavering.’ Just as she was marveling at how Seraphina would go to bat for a friend, she suddenly heard the mention of a hundred or two hundred thousand for expenses, and her mind went completely blank.
She was truly floored by the astronomical figure. ’Seraphina actually had the nerve to ask for that much? A hundred or two hundred thousand? Isn’t that too outrageous? Why would a man like Martin Quinn ever fork over such a ridiculous sum!’
