Chapter 212: Accident
The day passed by in a blur, with Jacob and Violet spending most of the time together. After they had visited Violet’s favorite spot, Jacob took her to eat at one of the academy’s canteens, and finally, at night, he walked her to her room—which was only a few doors away from his—in very romantic fashion.
He had made sure to deliberately forget his jacket with her so he’d have an excuse to speak to her again, or even visit her room—which he was sure was most likely customized by now. Classic move.
By the time he reached his room, the sun had dipped far below the horizon and the twin moons had risen, their lunar lights bathing the world like two reflective spectacles looking down upon it.
There was nothing else on Jacob’s mind but getting a good night’s sleep, letting his body recharge for the next day.
He was grateful to Violet for showing him such a not-so-secret-now spot, as he’d figured he’d use all that space to complete his sign-in quests, which had provided him with several rewards over the years.
He had made it a point to always shower and get himself cleaned up before bed, he had to maintain his good looks and fresh smell somehow. He quickly completed all of that in less than ten minutes and snuggled up in his now more comfortable, much wider, soft, king-sized bed; with about a dozen pillows to keep him company.
Before long, he drifted into a deep slumber.

Jacob awoke to the sound of a horn blaring in the middle of the school grounds. It was not situated in a place that was particularly visible, but it was loud enough that it woke most disciples up.
’Oh god. I was not ready for that.’ He mused as he rubbed his eyes and yawned languorously. Even though he knew this was how they would wake them up for the next three months, it was still shockingly loud.
He got out of bed and quickly got dressed, the entire process not even taking up to 20 minutes as he strolled out of his room casually, with a white button up shirt, and a set of neatly ironed, straight, baggy blue trousers.
His hair fell care-freely, and he wore a pair of round, transparent spectacles with golden frames, which accentuated his already dazzling facial features.
He looked around in the crowd of shuffling disciples, but found no trace of Violet, then with a weak smile on his face, he thought to himself: ’She was the first one to class, wasn’t she?’
He pinched the bridge of his nose between his thumb and index finger and sighed loudly. She was so excited that she had woken up even before the horn, gotten ready, and gone to class on her own.
That was impressive.
As he made his way to class, he accidentally bumped into another young man, just a few inches shorter than him. This young man possessed short black hair and a solid jaw structure.
He was also particularly good looking, and Jacob could tell who he was at first glance. Rin Blackwood. The heir of the fairly popular Blackwood Kingdom. A small landscape located at the outskirts of the Daven Heaven Continent.
Even though they did not have much land, they certainly had enough wealth to expand their coast, but the King just chose not to. Out of modesty, and respect.
Rin looked particularly sour faced, Jacob could not accurately tell if it was for the fact that they had just bumped into each other, or if he was just having a bad day in general. He decided it was both.
"Look at you! you think you’re so high and mighty that you just go around bumping into people, huh?" Rin said at the top of his voice, very determined to ignite some drama right there in the hallway.
"It was an accident, we both weren’t looking where we were going—let’s say our sorries and move on." Jacob’s voice was calm, just like it always was, even in the face of certain danger. If there was anything Jacob absolutely abhorred, it was bullies.
Bullies reminded him too much of his past life, and he had vowed to never be put in a position to be made forcefully weak by another human ever again.
Rin’s face twisted into an even more angry expression. "Sorry?! Sorry?! You want me to tell you sorry?! Sorry my ass!" He spat on the floor and pointed a finger at Jacob.
"You say sorry. You clearly were looking for some trouble this morning, and I’ll give it to you." Rin continued, his words escaping his teeth like hot venom seeping through.
All Jacob could wonder was where all this hatred and anger was coming from, human emotions were the one thing that still remained a mystery to him. Even in his infinitely vast knowledge.
"Whoa, why are you so worked up? It was clearly an accident." Jacob smiled as he raised his two hands in protest and smiled faintly, his eyes fixed on Rin’s. Not even flickering for a second.
A crowd had formed around them by now, watching silently as the two young men were caught in what seemed to be a very serious altercation.
"There was no accident, you liar! You did that on purpose! Ever since you walked onto this campus you’ve been feeling like you’re too good for everyone. As a matter of fact, let me teach you a lesson right here and now!" Rin rolled a sleeve and turned his arm in a clockwise direction multiple times, clearly gearing up to launch an attack at Jacob, who now looked at him with faint amusement. This young man clearly was closer to a street thug than a martial arts master.
Just as Rin was about to launch an attack that would most likely end with him getting his arm broken, or sorely wounded.. a shout erupted from amidst the crowd. One that made Rin stop completely in his tracks.
A smallish girl emerged from the crowd, walking slowly towards Jacob and Rin with a listless look on her face.
She had short white hair, very messy... bright red eyes that glowed like very small rubies, and when she opened her mouth... her fangs laid bare for all to see.
She picked her nose as she moved towards Rin, barely acknowledging Jacob at all, but he wasn’t surprised in the least bit. He had sensed her aura from the moment he stepped into the hallway. Albeit her behavior now was different from the last time they met...
