Chapter 211: The Best Advice

Jacob did not even protest as she dragged him along, her smaller hands tightly gripping his. He also did not dare ask, as he knew already where she was taking him. They whizzed past the hostel building, moving towards the rear end of the school.

When they got to the final stop, there was a large stony fence, fleshed out at the edges, it was not too high, but it didn’t drop too low either. It was just high enough that it towered like two or three feet aboveJacob’s head.

Violet grinned at him and turned her bright eyes towards the top of the fence, her eyes and palms glowed simultaneously in a bright golden color, and then thin strings of gold thread instantly materialized from the palms of her hands. She was about five foot eight, which was significantly shorter than Jacob. She tossed her strings towards the top of the fence and used them to pull herself towards the other end in less than a few seconds.

Jacob was not surprised, he was able to tell her power from the moment he set his eyes on her. She was able to manipulate her Qi in a way that it created long, sturdy lines of golden strings. It was beautiful to watch... or so he thought.

"Can you come to this side already?!" She screamed for him to cross over, as though she already knew it was something he would be able to do with relative ease.

"Coming!" Jacob sighed as he responded, then, like he’d done it forever, he scaled the thick fence at once—as easily as taking a step—and his feet planted softly into a bed of thick green grass right beside Violet, who was already looking ahead with nothing but wonder in her eyes.

"It’s beautiful isn’t it." She said without looking at him, and walked forward, each step creating a small set of footprints in the grass.

They stood atop what seemed to be the edge of a mountain, but rather than being covered in frost... it was covered in soft, healthy, green grass. Violet walked closer to the edge and sat down, swinging her legs, then she looked back at Jacob and gestured for him to come closer.

In the distance was a set of different mountains, some with their peaks lost behind the clouds, they stood independently, each one with a different layout and different crevices.

The sun shone brilliantly from behind them, making the scene a sight for sore eyes. Jacob instantly could tell why she loved it. He inched closer and sat right beside her, one foot pressed into the grass, and the other swinging off the edge. He looked at her as he responded in a soft tone: "It definitely is."

She noticed his tone of voice and then turned her face towards him, but he looked away instantly—nearly blushing—towards the setting sun.

"Jacob, can I tell you something?" She asked as she looked down. She was not scared, even after noticing that there was no bottom in sight. Surely if someone were to fall off this edge, they most likely would not make it.

"Sure you can."

"Another major reason I wanted to come to this school, is because... I wanted to get out of the house." She said as she rubbed the length of her arm. The breeze that blew along the edge of the mountain was certainly chilly, even with the sun shining brightly from a distance.

Jacob noticed this and instantly remembered the movies he used to watch as a young man in his past life, where the man would take his jacket off and wrap it around the woman beside him.

He always thought it was too clichè, as he’d never experienced female attention or intimacy before, but the Jacob of this moment was a very different man. At only eighteen, he had seen, explored, and tasted nothing but the very best, across multiple species.

But there was something, something about this woman that just made him watch in awe of her, damn near ogling. Every move she made intrigued him, and whenever she looked at him...

He took off his coat and wrapped it around her, watching as her face instantly lit up with another smile.

"Why did you want to get out of the house?" He asked, now feeling the brunt of the cold himself, but he was fine, as his body had developed permanent resistance to most elements earlier.

"Well, for the past few years... my parents had been fighting a lot." Her face returned to gloom again as she looked away. "...they even spoke of separation many times. I just wanted to get away from there as I figured it won’t affect me much if I was far away, and tried my best to make a life for myself."

"Why do they fight?" He asked.

"It’s mostly frivolous things, any thing could set it off... one time, it started with how hot... or cold the food was... I don’t really remember."

"I think you made a good decision." Jacob said flatly, staring off into the distance.

"I think so too, but I still worry about them sometimes... you know?" She looked at him now, right into his eyes, as if searching for an answer. But he did not have the answer to everything.

"When I was younger. My father used to always tell me not to worry about things that were out of my control. I think they are just going through a phase that every couple goes through." Said Jacob who had never seen his parents even disagree in his entire life. "Meanwhile... you are in a new place, with new people. Try to have fun, give them some time to work things out on their own."

Jacob wrapped an arm around her, he had gotten pretty used to this, seeing as he was taller and she smelled extremely good.

She laughed, with a snort, as though Jacob had said something funny, he looked at her with a confused expression as he asked: "What? What is it? Did I say something wrong?"

"No no!" She responded, with a faint glint in her eyes, she looked at him with amusement and said: "You really don’t give the best advice, do you?"
