Dual World Apocalypse: My Harem Gives Me 10x Rewards

Chapter 103: Step 103 to Greatness: Learn to Bamboozle Your Family

Adrian spent the night cleaning up. As much as someone would have been enraged at their home being invaded, Adrian was thankful to them. If not for the attack, he would have had a headache trying to make his parents move to the warehouse they owned.

It’s a warehouse only in name. It’s more like a second home.

Adrian’s family used to be quite big, with over a dozen uncles and aunts on either side of the family. However, most of them left once the grandparents ascended to heaven.

Thanks to that, the massive houses that were once occupied by them as ’rentals’ for which they didn’t pay a cent were converted into warehouses for their business.

Unfortunately, his father had already sold most of them to cover the debt, with only two remaining. Thankfully, those two properties were the easiest to defend when the time was right.

But before all that, Adrian needed to make another call. Hopefully, the last one.

The next morning, Yeji woke up to the sound of people moving around outside. She got up, thinking the goons had returned to thrash what was left of their home.

Instead, when she looked out of the window, she saw a moving truck parked outside with Adrian directing the movers to load boxes and furniture inside the truck.

"This boy, what is he up to now?"

She hurried downstairs, thinking Adrian was selling things off to help with the debt. However, she saw that even Mark was helping with the boxes.

"What is all this?" Yeji asked, looking at them.

"Ah, you’re up," Mark smiled, turning to her. "I know this is hurried, but Adrian made a good point, and I couldn’t ignore it—"

"Adrian!? You’re listening to a child and doing whatever this is?"

"You’re the one who keeps asking me to treat him like an adult, so that’s what I did," Mark shrugged.

"...treating him like an adult doesn’t mean you let him do what he wants," Yeji shook her head and walked to Adrian. "Young man, you tell me, what are you doing now?"

Adrian handed the box over to a mover and wiped the sweat off his forehead before replying.

"Ma, you think those collectors would stop sending goons after us?" he asked. "That’s why I’m thinking of us moving to the warehouses for a while till the heat dies down. It’s safer there, and we can stay low for a bit."

"Warehouses? But that’s up the hills. And what about your school? Young man, I’m telling you. No matter what the school decides, you’re not dropping out—"

A sigh escaped Adrian’s lips. His mother always wanted to study more, but her parents forced her into a marriage, and then she had him, and slowly getting a degree was the last thing on her mind.

She had never told him about it, but it wasn’t difficult to know how she felt about it. That’s why dropping out was a sensitive topic for her.

"Ma, I’ve been suspended. Even though they didn’t mention it explicitly, even you know it," Adrian smiled. "So, while I wait for them to deliver the verdict, I can focus on family instead."

Yeji wanted to object immediately, but couldn’t say a word as the images from last night began flashing in her mind.

"But what about the neighbors? What will people say—?"

"Darling, the neighbours aren’t going to help us fix our home," Mark said, hugging her from behind. "Besides, our son will turn 18 in four days. I think we can trust him. Also, with the house taken care of, I can actually focus on making money and get us out of this debt trap."

As soon as Adrian heard those words, he wanted to snort. That debt was something that ruined their family, and the only reason he even managed to get out of it was because of Adrian’s stepfamily in his last life.

That reminds me... is this guy having an affair already?

In his last life, Adrian was so guilt-ridden that he never thought about it. But now that he did, the timeline felt suspicious. After all, his stepmother and father got married in less than three months of dating. Who wouldn’t find it suspicious?

Honestly, if not being biologically related to you, I would have left you here as well. I hope you pray to God that I don’t find any evidence of your affairs before the apocalypse hits, or else you’ll be on the road begging for your life.

Mark noticed Adrian staring at him for a long moment and was a bit weirded out by it.

"Is something on my face, son?" he asked, cleaning his hands on his jeans and patting his face.

"Not yet," Adrian replied and walked inside to carry more boxes.

Yeji and Mark exchanged confused glances. Yeji’s brow furrowed as she watched her son disappear into the house.

"What was that about?" she whispered to her husband.

"I have no idea. He’s been acting a bit strange since yesterday," Mark shrugged, looking equally puzzled. "Maybe the stress from the debt collectors is getting to him."

"I hope that’s all it is. He’s been through enough already."

With that, they continued on with the packing and locked the house, not knowing it was the last time they’d be there... at least for a long time.

The convoy of trucks rolled toward the warehouse, the family car following closely behind. When they arrived at the large warehouse complex on the outskirts of the city, Yeji’s eyes widened in surprise.

"Honey... what is all this?" she mumbled, pointing at the armada of trucks ahead.

Apart from the two trucks behind them, over two dozen trucks were already parked in front of the warehouses.

Men were unloading boxes and crates filled with supplies, from medicines, canned food, bottled water, to fuel cans, heaters, coolers, generators, blankets, first aid kits, and all kinds of things. There were even black cases hiding god knows what inside.

"Did you arrange all this?" Yeji asked Mark.

"Honey... you think I have money for all this?" Mark shook his head, looking equally clueless. "Adrian, is this your doing again?"
