Chapter 101: Liberating Destiny
Lucian had realized early on that the planet of the DanMachi World was unique. It wasn't just because it was a habitable planet, but because this specific world possessed an Inner Sea of the Planet. Put simply—only a "living" planet could generate an Inner Sea of the Planet, and even then, it was a matter of sheer coincidence.
The same was true for Ill Ilah in the world of Alma Torran. Because the planet was "alive," coupled with a stroke of chance, He was born. Even if His physical manifestation resembled a black jellyfish, He was the genuine will of the planet itself—a composite entity of Gaia and Alaya.
Even though Ugo had guided the lifeforms of Alma Torran to the new world, he had brought the Rukh along with them; therefore, they remained eternally bound to Ill Ilah.
"First, I need to release the souls trapped in this space and let them return to the Great Flow."
With a mere thought, Lucian teleported the lingering souls out of the dimensional space. Because Ill Ilah had descended upon Alma Torran and devoured a massive number of lifeforms, those lifeforms were trapped within His body, while another portion remained scattered across this void. Since the Great Flow was created by Solomon, it served as the final resting place for these souls. Lucian released this portion of the souls, subsequently teleporting them back into the interior of the new world.
"You've returned?" Yamraiha looked at Lucian with palpable anxiety.
"It is done." Lucian nodded slightly. With a flip of his wrist, a small black jellyfish materialized in his hand.
"This is... the God who created us?" Sinbad seemed somewhat taken aback.
"Don't let His small size fool you. If He were to unleash His power, every living thing on the surface would be wiped out in an instant." Lucian chuckled. "And without a doubt, the people of your world are derivative lifeforms of Ill Ilah. It is exactly because of Him that you were able to be born... Although this world is far from perfect, that is an issue of your own making."
Solomon was able to siphon Ill Ilah's Rukh because Ill Ilah lacked a self-aware will. Once He gained consciousness and the presence of a manipulator like Lucian emerged, reclaiming the power that inherently belonged to Him became effortlessly simple. Furthermore, at this point, Ill Ilah had not yet been subjected to hierarchy-altering magic; Ugo hadn't yet contained Him like a pet within the Sacred Palace.
In truth, even if His hierarchy had been altered, Ill Ilah's fundamental essence would remain unchanged. A displaced God is still a God, a concept akin to the Angel Fall incident from A Certain Magical Index. If He so desired, He could snatch back His throne in an instant. The prerequisite being that He possessed self-awareness, or someone was manipulating Him.
"I see..." Sinbad felt a wave of relief in his heart.
According to Lucian, no one had ever truly manipulated their destinies; humanity merely perceived themselves as puppets due to Ill Ilah's existence. In reality, humanity simply caught glimpses of their collective destiny as a facet of Alaya. Ill Ilah Himself had no autonomous thoughts. Now, Lucian intended to sever their connection to the Rukh, granting them absolute freedom and liberation. Their destinies would finally be placed in their own hands—and from there, it was up to them to forge ahead.
The future of this world should be walked by humanity itself. The reason the original Sinbad had enacted the magic to return the world to the Rukh was to free humanity's destiny, constructing a form of existence akin to heaven. Now presented with a vastly superior alternative, he naturally no longer felt conflicted.
"I am going to pay a visit to the Sacred Palace now." Lucian nodded slightly, and the light of teleportation flared, transferring him to the Sacred Palace.
Although the Sacred Palace was located in a different dimension, it remained the core for the flow of Rukh. Ill Ilah Himself acted as the medium for guidance, thereby pinpointing the coordinates. With Lucian's teleportation magic, even with the Sacred Palace in a completely sealed state, it was like going home.
"A pleasure to meet you for the first time, Ugo. And—Solomon, the will currently residing within the Rukh." Lucian looked at the blue giant before him and smiled. "I am Lucian, a God from another world."
"The Sacred Palace is in a state of absolute lockdown. How did you bypass its defense systems and arrive here?" Ugo asked, a mix of profound confusion and lingering apprehension in his voice. "My Sacred Palace system should be flawless. And the defenses haven't been breached, yet you appeared without a trace, much like how you descended upon this world."
He's making quite a pitiful expression...
Lucian brought out Ill Ilah and said, "Therefore, I bypassed the Sacred Palace's defenses entirely and directly materialized within the world's interior. All Rukh originates from Ill Ilah. The Sacred Palace is an efficient tool to circulate the Rukh, acting as a critical node for the world. With Ill Ilah present, following the flow of the Rukh will pinpoint the Sacred Palace's coordinates. As long as coordinates exist, I can easily reach even a higher-dimensional world without needing to shatter the World Barrier."
He was a walking mechanic exploit. Teleportation gates didn't care about standard logic; as long as the coordinates and initial mana were provided, they would function. The energy in the Magi world operated on a nearly perfect closed-loop system. When Ugo mentioned in the original canon that shattering dimensions required the entire mana of a God, he was referring to that initial magical cost. Even if that mana was expended to break through dimensions, it would eventually cycle back.
"Amazing..." Ugo gasped in awe. "You control Ill Ilah with such ease. Could it be that you yourself hail from a higher-dimensional world?"
"Perhaps... or maybe I come from a world entirely different from the higher dimensions." Lucian conversed with eager interest. "If the world truly possesses a multi-layered structure, and shattering this world's ceiling leads to a higher realm, then—what lies beyond the multiverse?"
"A world beyond the multiverse?" Ugo muttered, unable to hide the surging excitement in his voice. "To think such a thing actually exists!"
Typical tech nerd... The moment the topic shifted to his field of expertise, Ugo completely let his guard down and showed this posture, regardless of whether Lucian was friend or foe.
"Alright, let's put the discussion on world structure on hold for now. It's time for business." Lucian smiled and said, "I came here at the behest of the people of this world to liberate their destiny."
"Liberate their destiny?" Ugo blinked, clearly confused.
"This is the structure of a normal soul." Lucian reached out, constructing a blank soul.
"This is... there's no Rukh?" Ugo was somewhat stunned.
"The Rukh originates from Ill Ilah, so you are naturally derivative lifeforms of Ill Ilah," Lucian spoke out. "As long as you break free from the Rukh, you can become truly independent beings. That is exactly why I am here."
"Incredible!!" Ugo exclaimed excitedly, leaning in to closely inspect the soul Lucian had created. "There really is no Rukh. I can't detect any trace of destiny at all. This way, everyone can be freed from fate! What even Solomon couldn't accomplish in the past can actually be realized!"
Lucian didn't dislike simple people. Living completely alone in the Sacred Palace must have been somewhat hard. Once this was complete, Ugo would also be able to be liberated.
