Chapter 102: A Free Soul
"Since the Sacred Palace serves as the core for the Rukh circulation, I need to modify its functions so that the Rukh no longer distinguishes between black and white." Lucian spoke out. "Do you have any thoughts on this, Ugo? And you, Solomon."
"Will lacking Rukh truly not negatively impact the lifeforms of the new world?" Ugo asked hesitantly.
"My own spiritual structure contains absolutely no Rukh. This thing isn't a necessity; your structures merely differ from mine because you are derivative entities of Ill Ilah. This data is derived directly from myself and the people of my home world, so please put your worries to rest." Lucian explained, "Furthermore, I won't completely eradicate the Rukh. After all, it's a unique specialty of this world."
"If there truly won't be any issues, then I agree." Ugo gritted his teeth and made up his mind.
"Very well. I'm going to begin reclaiming the Rukh."
Lucian gave a warning and easily took over control of the Sacred Palace. Driven by the Calculation Power of his Divine Avatar and the World Will, the internal structure of the Sacred Palace began to rapidly alter. First, he connected the Sacred Palace with the outside world, opening a channel, and utilized Ill Ilah's will to overwrite the colors of the Rukh.
Across the entire globe, the Rukh began to surge. The black and white Rukh transitioned into gold. Solomon's will was replaced by Lucian's, incapable of mounting even the slightest resistance. Next, using the Sacred Palace as the source, he constructed a grand magic to modify the structure of life. Compared to casting the magic directly himself, utilizing the Sacred Palace was far more convenient and worry-free.
"I am the Lord of Illusions. I hereby grant the people of this world free souls."
Lucian murmured, and this voice appeared in everyone's ears. A colossal magic array pierced the heavens and earth, covering the entire planet. Subsequently, golden light cascaded down, and the Rukh departed from the living beings, soaring freely in the space. Despite this, life continued to exist; the alteration to their underlying constitution caused them absolutely no harm. Furthermore, Lucian retained a portion: upon death, life would transform into Rukh and return to the Great Flow.
Seemingly nothing had changed, but Lucian had resolved the core issue—namely, the fact that destiny was controlled in the hands of God. After dyeing all the Rukh golden, Lucian's will withdrew from the Rukh and bestowed them with free will.
As microscopic spirits, the Rukh were the smallest building blocks of life; they naturally should possess their own consciousness. Rather than Solomon replacing Ill Ilah to act as the will of the Rukh, the Rukh themselves would possess will. The Great Flow still existed, but its nature had changed, becoming a Sea of Life comprised of countless Rukh.
The microscopic spirits possessed free will. From this day forward, no one would ever be able to control the Great Flow again, and even Solomon had become a member of the microscopic spirits. That is to say, the Rukh transitioned from a collective will to individual wills.
Having accomplished this, Lucian utilized the functions of the Sacred Palace to summon the labyrinth. He didn't build a dimensional channel between the new planet of the new world and Alma Torran; instead, he directly moved the entire subterranean city over, including the Sacred Palace itself, which Lucian brought to the new world.
"You really did it." Ugo muttered, his tone filled with melancholy.
Now he was no longer composed of Rukh either, but his traits as a Magi were still present, allowing him to continue acquiring mana through the Rukh. When he died, he would also transform into Rukh and become a part of the world, yet he would be able to maintain human consciousness. Until he passed his Magi traits to someone else, or resurrected himself through magic.
"The Rukh have gained free will, and I have also granted them the property of being free from interference." Lucian spoke out. "Magicians can still converse with the Rukh and issue command formulas to them, but they cannot interfere with their composition and will, nor is it possible to replace the will of the Rukh."
In other words, they could cast magic through the Rukh, but they could not interfere with the Rukh themselves. Without Ill Ilah as the origin, the characteristic of black Rukh creating life naturally disappeared. Because human birth was no longer related to the Rukh, their deaths would still return to the Rukh.
In the future, the Rukh in this world would only multiply, sufficient to support the residents of this world in heading toward the stars, or even terraforming alien environments.
"Thank you very much!" The blue giant, Ugo, faced Lucian and bowed respectfully to him.
It was precisely because of Lucian's help that the people of this world could step toward a future entirely different from the original canon, completely becoming independent individuals.
"I suppose that makes me a 'Warrior Who Liberated Destiny,' doesn't it?" Lucian joked. Then he added, "Ugo, you must have things you want to do now as well, right?"
The Sacred Palace still existed. Although it was no longer needed to manage the circulation of Rukh, it remained a planet-class magical tool, even capable of launching grand magic that could destroy the surface dozens of times over. A Djinn's life was eternal. As long as Ugo didn't want to die, he could protect this world forever. As a fellow homebody who had spent countless years, Lucian didn't need to worry about him losing his original intentions.
"Things I want to do... Ah, that's right. Aladdin." Ugo murmured, "I need to let Aladdin be born into this world so he can live his own life."
Recalling Sheba's entrustment, Ugo's confused eyes became resolute.
"In that case, I won't overstay my welcome." Lucian nodded slightly and said, "I am going to resolve the hidden dangers of this world now. Until we meet again, Ugo."
"Mhm..." Ugo nodded slightly, and then his expression turned conflicted.
"Do you have something you want to say?" Lucian asked with a smile.
"Um... it's nothing..." Ugo hesitated for a long time but failed to speak.
"Don't leave yourself with any regrets, Ugo." Lucian reached out. "My friend, thank you for your support."
Lucian didn't want to clash with Ugo. Although he could forcefully accomplish these things, not breaking out into conflict was the best result. Thanks to Ugo's good character and sincerity, Lucian was very willing to become Ugo's friend.
"Friend..." Hearing this, Ugo felt somewhat moved in his heart, and similarly reached out his hand to touch Lucian's. He fidgeted somewhat, completely displaying the personality of a shy, oversized boy.
"Until we meet again, my friend." Ugo revealed a smile.
"Until then." Lucian chuckled softly and teleported away.
This time, he arrived at the Kou Empire, the lair of Al-Thamen. Watching Lucian disappear, Ugo also slowly stood up.
"How long has it been since I felt like this?" Ugo sighed. "The feeling of no longer being lonely... it really is wonderful."
Even a tech nerd would find it somewhat unbearable to spend infinitely long years alone. Next, he would let Aladdin be born, then raise him, travel with him, and make many, many friends...
As for the safety of the Sacred Palace, there was no need to worry. Lucian had optimized the Sacred Palace's defense system. Being breached like Sinbad did in the original work was impossible now. Especially since Ugo's will was connected to the Sacred Palace, to replace Ugo's will, one would at least need the ability to shatter the Sacred Palace's defenses. If someone could achieve that, they wouldn't need a magical tool like the Sacred Palace either.
Author's Note: The Sacred Palace has no concept of time, so Aladdin's birth has been delayed. The Magi arc is nearing its end, so there will be no plots related to Aladdin for now.
