Chapter 293: Gunshot Wound
Bao Shengjie choked back sobs and added, "Brother Yu, I’m sorry. It’s my incompetence that caused Miss Bai to fall."
Hua Yuyu gently patted Bao Shengjie’s head and shook his head. "This is not your fault. We were all fooled by the Xue Wu Gang, and we put Miss Bai at risk."
While Hua Yuyu and the others questioned Bao Shengjie, Wang Kaiye sent a message to Wu Jun.
[We found Shengjie, but Miss Bai fell off a cliff, and Zhuangyu is not with him. He lured a group of assassins away from Miss Bai when they left the hotel.]
Wu Jun read the message and told Xie Wei, "They found Shengjie, but Miss Bai has fallen off the cliff. Zhuangyu might still be near the hotel."
Xie Wei nodded and changed course. As they drove back toward the Yu Group hotel, Hua Yuyu said, "Let’s handle these bodies first. Then we go down the cliff to find Miss Bai. No matter what, we must find her—alive or dead."
"Yes, Captain," the others replied in a solemn tone.
After dealing with the bodies, Hua Yuyu and the others left the forest. When they finally drove back onto the main road, Bao Shengjie used his tablet to check the news.
"Brother Yu, look at this," Bao Shengjie said, showing the screen to Hua Yuyu and the others.
As the reporter adjusted her position, she faced the camera and reported, "More than two hours ago, a car accident occurred on the Shang Du Airport highway. No bodies were found at the scene, only traces of blood."
"Until now, the police have been investigating to determine the cause of the accident. Unfortunately, with the surveillance cameras broken, they are having difficulties uncovering the truth."
After listening to the report, Hua Yuyu handed the tablet back to Bao Shengjie and said, "Looks like we can’t go down the cliff to search for Miss Bai until the police leave the highway."
Hearing this, Wang Kaiye thought for a moment before saying, "Captain, we can go down the cliff from another section of the highway. With the vegetation blocking the view below, the police won’t notice us as long as we move carefully."
Considering the suggestion, Hua Yuyu nodded in agreement. "Alright. Gao Gong, head to Section Two. We will move from there."
"Yes, Captain." With that, Gao Gong drove toward Section Two of the Shang Du Airport highway.
While Hua Yuyu and the others searched for Bai Hanyun while avoiding the police, Wu Jun and Xie Wei found Ouyang Zhuangyu.
Parking the car on the roadside, they hurried down and rushed into a dark alley.
Switching on their phone flashlights, they spotted Ouyang Zhuangyu leaning against a dirty wall, hidden in the shadows.
Shielding his eyes with his hand, Ouyang Zhuangyu squinted to see who was approaching. If they were enemies, then tonight would be his end.
"Brother Zhuangyu!" Xie Wei called out as he and Wu Jun rushed toward him.
Looking at their anxious faces, Ouyang Zhuangyu smiled weakly and said, "I’m glad to see you guys here."
Kneeling beside him, Xie Wei noticed his body was covered in blood. Without hesitation, he opened Ouyang Zhuangyu’s shirt.
Seeing a gunshot wound in his stomach, Xie Wei’s jaw tightened. Checking further, he found another wound on the back of his left thigh and one on the upper part of his right arm.
Without wasting time, Xie Wei rushed back to the car to retrieve the first aid kit. Pulling out a bandage, he said, "I will stop the bleeding first. Brother Zhuangyu, you will be fine."
Ouyang Zhuangyu had already lost a lot of blood and felt dizzy. Closing his eyes, he murmured weakly, "Mhm. With you two here, I will be fine."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he lost consciousness.
Seeing this, Xie Wei exclaimed anxiously, "Quick! We must take him to the hospital at once!"
Without delay, both Xie Wei and Wu Jun carried Ouyang Zhuangyu to the car and drove to the nearest military hospital.
Upon arrival, they rushed straight to the emergency unit.
"Doctor! Doctor!" Xie Wei called urgently.
Seeing them carry in Ouyang Zhuangyu, who was covered in blood, the doctors and nurses immediately rushed to help.
As soon as he was laid on the bed, the emergency doctor examined him while nurses connected several monitoring devices.
"Doctor! His blood pressure is dropping!"
The doctor’s expression hardened as he urgently ordered, "Prepare the operating room! You—give him 1 ml of norepinephrine and epinephrine."
"Yes, doctor!"
After the nurse hung the saline solution, she injected the medicine and adjusted the drip speed.
While the medical team worked to stabilize Ouyang Zhuangyu, Xie Wei and Wu Jun could only watch from outside.
Soon, the nurses pushed Ouyang Zhuangyu out of the emergency unit. "Make way! Make way!"
Following closely, Wu Jun and Xie Wei hurried alongside until they reached the surgery department.
But outside the operating room, a nurse stopped them. "Family members can’t go inside."
She then closed the door, and soon the red light above it turned on. Staring at the closed door, Xie Wei and Wu Jun waited silently.
Six hours later, the light finally went out, and the door opened.
Seeing the doctor come out, both Wu Jun and Xie Wei quickly stood and rushed over.
"Doctor, how is my brother?" Xie Wei asked worriedly.
Removing his surgical mask, the doctor gave him a small smile. "Don’t worry. The surgery was very successful. Although he is out of danger, we still need to monitor his condition for a few days."
Hearing this, both Wu Jun and Xie Wei let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank you, Doctor," they said together.
"This is my duty." The doctor nodded to them before walking away.
Not long after, the surgery room door opened again, and two nurses wheeled out a bed with Ouyang Zhuangyu lying on it.
Seeing Wu Jun and Xie Wei waiting, one nurse said, "Family member, please come with me to complete the documents and payment."
