Chapter 292: Ambush
As the car neared the emergency signal’s location, Wang Kaimu suddenly said, "Stop! There is an ambush ahead."
As the team’s ambush specialist, his words meant only one thing—there was definitely an ambush ahead.
Hearing this, Gao Gong slammed on the brakes.
The moment the off-road car stopped, the four of them grabbed their weapons and got out.
Wang Kaiye leaped onto the car roof in one swift motion, while the others raised their weapons and aimed in three different directions.
While Wang Kaiye assembled his sniper rifle, Hua Yuyu asked without lowering his guard, "Kaimu, where are the ambushers?"
Scanning the area, Wang Kaimu spotted traces on the ground. Without hesitation, he replied, "Three at nine o’clock, five at six o’clock, and two at eleven o’clock."
As soon as he spoke, Wang Kaiye finished assembling his sniper rifle, lay prone on the roof, and aimed in the direction his elder brother had given.
A second later, he spotted the ambushers hidden among the vegetation and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

The bullets cut through the dense vegetation and struck the three ambushers squarely in the forehead, killing them instantly.
The remaining ambushers, realizing what had happened, quickly returned fire at Hua Yuyu and the others.

The sudden gunfire echoed through the silent mountain forest, startling birds and other small animals.
Not far away, Bao Shengjie heard the gunshots’ echoes from his hiding place. His eyes lit up as he thought, ’It must be Brother Yu and the others! They are finally here!’
Grabbing his tablet, Bao Shengjie scanned the surroundings for a moment. When he was sure no one was nearby, he sprinted out of his hiding place and ran toward the source of the sound.
While Bao Shengjie was on his way, Hua Yuyu and the others exchanged fire with the ambushers.

As two more ambushers fell to Wang Kaiye’s sniper rounds, the leader gritted his teeth and ordered, "Kill the sniper first!"
At once, all the ambushers focused their fire on Wang Kaiye.

Seeing this, Wang Kaimu shouted, "Kaiye, get down!"
Under the hail of bullets, Wang Kaiye was forced to jump down from the car roof and use the vehicle as cover.
Without Wang Kaiye’s help, the remaining ambushers gained the advantage from their hidden positions, and their attack intensified.

Another round of bullets was raining down on them, forcing Hua Yuyu, Wang Kaimu, and Gao Gong to fall back and join Wang Kaiye.

Seeing the situation shift, Hua Yuyu’s mind raced. A second later, he asked, "Kaimu, how many enemies are left?"
Wang Kaimu closed his eyes to heighten his hearing. A few seconds later, he opened them and replied, "Three left. Two at seven o’clock, and one at five o’clock."
Getting his answer, Hua Yuyu turned to Wang Kaiye. "Kaiye, can you take the two at seven o’clock?"
Wang Kaiye nodded. "I marked their positions earlier. I need only two seconds to take them down."
"Good. You take the two at seven o’clock," Hua Yuyu ordered.
"No problem."
Hua Yuyu then turned to Wang Kaimu and continued, "Kaimu, Gao Gong and I will cover you. You handle the one at five o’clock."
"Yes, Captain," Wang Kaimu replied.
After the plan was set, Hua Yuyu exchanged a glance with Gao Gong. Both nodded, then rolled out from behind the car—one to the left, one to the right.
A heartbeat later, they raised their guns and fired toward five and seven o’clock.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Their continuous fire forced the ambushers to take cover and halt their own shooting.
Seizing the moment, Hua Yuyu shouted, "Now!"
Without hesitation, Wang Kaiye stood up while Wang Kaimu darted toward five o’clock, sliding low over wet, rotten leaves.
Shrush!
In a heartbeat, he was face-to-face with the ambusher and pulled the trigger.
Bang! Thud!
At the same time, Wang Kaiye set his sniper on the car roof and fired in quick succession.

In less than five seconds, both brothers had killed the three remaining ambushers.
When the surroundings fell into silence, Hua Yuyu lowered his gun and calmly ordered, "Check their bodies."
"Yes, Captain," the others answered in unison.
As they searched the ambushers’ bodies for any evidence or clues, the bushes suddenly rustled. Instantly, the four of them raised their guns and pointed at the bushes.
A second later, Bao Shengjie burst out of the bushes, covered in wounds and blood. The sight of four barrels aimed at him made him cry out, "It’s me!"
Relieved to see him alive, Hua Yuyu and the others lowered their weapons.
Gao Gong rushed forward, grabbed Bao Shengjie by the shoulders, and asked, "Little Brother, are you all right?"
Bao Shengjie clung to him and wept with joy. "Brother Gong! I thought tonight I was going to report back to Yan Wang!"
Seeing him alone, Hua Yuyu asked anxiously, "Why are you alone? Where are Miss Bai and Zhuangyu?"
Bao Shengjie released Gao Gong and threw himself at Hua Yuyu. "Brother Yu!"
Patting his head, Hua Yuyu repeated, "Shengjie, why are you alone? Where are Miss Bai and Zhuangyu?"
Bao Shengjie’s face fell at his questions. He looked down and replied in guilt and sadness, "Miss Bai—she... she was thrown off the railing and fell down the cliff when the assassins rammed our motorbike."
At his words, everyone was stunned.
Seeing Bao Shengjie’s wounds and bloodstains, Hua Yuyu clenched his fists. "What about Zhuangyu?" he demanded.
Bao Shengjie’s eyes reddened as he explained, "When we were leaving the hotel, a group of assassins chased us. Brother Zhuangyu lured them away to give us time to escape."
"However, on the airport highway, a car slammed into our motorbike. Miss Bai was thrown over the railing and fell down the cliff."
"I tried to find her, but the assassins forced me to run. Outnumbered, I could only hide in the mountain forest and send an emergency signal."
