Raising Yanderes to save the world

Chapter 257: Ch 256: Lyra’s Confession

"I like you. I would even go as far as to say that I possibly love you. But I have no intention of forcing my feelings on you, so please do not worry. I am simply content to be by your side."

Lyra was looking at Kael the whole time she confessed. But her eyes showed that she did not have much hope of Kael reciprocating her feelings.

And Kael truly had no idea how he could reply to this confession.

He did like Lyra, but not in the sense that he wanted to date her. He thought of her more as a pet, or maybe a young girl (despite her age) whom he needed to look after.

And somehow, Lyra seemed to know that as well because she let out a sigh at Kael’s thoughtful expression.

"See, I knew you did not see me the same way I saw you. But there is nothing for you to worry about. I won’t force my feelings on you, and I have no intention of forcing you to commit to a relationship with me either."

Lyra told Kael with a smile on her face, but that smile did not reach her eyes. She was masking her feelings, which made Kael want to tell her that there was no need to.

But telling her this would also make him confront her feelings and offer a solution. And he could only think of time and space as things that could help her.

"Lyra—"

"I will be fine! I am much stronger mentally than those other kids since I have lived for such a long time. I can also wait for you to come around if time is what you need. Initially, I did not even want to confess to you like this, but it just happened anyway. Hahaha..."

Lyra told Kael, and he sighed. He felt like he needed to counsel her about bottling up her feelings and holding herself back. But based on what had happened... maybe it would be better if Kael did not say anything to her after all.

"I am sorry that I do not see you that way. Anyone else would be delighted to have you as a partner. But as someone who sees you as family—"

"Do you know that being family in the demon world is akin to being married? I would appreciate it if you did not call me your family until you intend to see it through."

Kael immediately stopped talking, now feeling at a loss.

Lyra waved her hand and laughed to ease the tension. But the sadness in her eyes was still visible.

"I already knew you were not asking me to become that kind of family with you, but my instincts took over, and before I knew it, I started liking you. But you are the kind of person who loves everyone equally. Do you even hold anyone special in your heart?"

Lyra asked, and Kael flinched at that question. He had never thought about it before, but if he did think about it... no special person came to mind.

No, he was lying. There was one person he had been more concerned about than anyone else, and that was Seraphina. But that was because she was suicidal with her tendency to push past the limits meant to protect her.

She had even pushed herself too much during the previous fight and had almost gotten hurt, which caused Kael to panic and—

"See, you are still thinking about someone else while you are standing in front of me. This is why I have no intention of forcing you to accept my feelings."

The demon queen told him, and Kael remained quiet. He wanted to hear what else she had to say.

The demon queen gathered herself and then chuckled.

"Anyway, since I said all this, I might as well continue speaking. This is my declaration to you, Kael! You might not like me now, but I will make you look at me for the rest of your life. You won’t be able to escape me anytime soon."

With those final words out of her mouth, the demon queen left.

Kael sighed as he looked at her retreating back with a heavy expression.

"Looks like I poked a hornet’s nest by asking Lyra a useless question. I should have kept my mouth shut."

He sighed, but honestly, he did not regret asking her those questions. It helped him understand Lyra better, and he also had a feeling she needed to get all of this off her chest one way or another.

...

"So, did you confess to Mother?"

Elena asked Lyra as the demon queen came back. And for a second, Lyra looked at her with weary eyes, debating what she should do about the other female. But finally, she sighed and nodded to show that she had confessed.

"So what if I confessed to Kael? He wanted to know, so I told him my feelings."

Lyra told the necromancer, and the younger girl sighed.

"I see. So Mother rejected you. That was a given since Mother loves us all equally. So, what are you going to do now?"

Elena asked, and Lyra chuckled at her words.

"He loves us all equally, huh? Somehow, I don’t think that’s true. He might treat all of us equally, but I bet he is more attached to some of us than to others."

Lyra paused before she answered the second part of the question.

"As for what I am about to do? Isn’t that obvious? I am going to try my best to get together with Kael and make him see me in a new and romantic light."

Her confession made the necromancer sigh. But she knew that the demon queen was not saying these words simply because she wanted to.

No! She was determined to see this through.

’My poor, innocent Mother is not ready for what is about to come. Now that Lyra has realized her feelings and decided to act, it is only a matter of time before the others make a move as well.’
